At the end of every seven years you must cancel debts.2En dit is die saak van die kwytskelding: elke skuldeiser moet die lening wat hy aan sy naaste geleen het, kwytskeld; hy mag sy naaste en sy broer nie aanmaan nie, want 'n kwytskelding vir die HERE is uitgeroep.aLetterlik: elke eienaar van 'n lening van sy hand wat hy aan sy naaste leen. This is the manner of remission: Every creditor shall cancel what he has loaned to his neighbor. He is not to collect anything from his neighbor or brother, because the LORD’s time of release has been proclaimed.3Die vreemdeling mag jy aanmaan, maar wat van jou by jou broer is, moet jou hand kwytskeld. You may collect something from a foreigner, but you must forgive whatever your brother owes you.4Egter, daar sal geen behoeftige onder jou wees nie, want die HERE sal jou beslis seën in die land wat die HERE jou God jou as erfdeel gee om dit in besit te neem,אֶ֕פֶס כִּ֛י לֹ֥א יִֽהְיֶה־בְּךָ֖ אֶבְי֑וֹן כִּֽי־בָרֵ֤ךְ יְבָֽרֶכְךָ֙ יְהוָ֔ה בָּאָ֕רֶץ אֲשֶׁר֙ יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ נֹֽתֵן־לְךָ֥ נַחֲלָ֖ה לְרִשְׁתָּֽהּ׃There will be no poor among you, however, because the LORD will surely bless you in the land that the LORD your God is giving you to possess as an inheritance,5net as jy terdeë luister na die stem van die HERE jou God, om hierdie hele gebod wat ek jou vandag beveel, te onderhou en te doen.רַ֚ק אִם־שָׁמ֣וֹעַ תִּשְׁמַ֔ע בְּק֖וֹל יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֑יךָ לִשְׁמֹ֤ר לַעֲשׂוֹת֙ אֶת־כָּל־הַמִּצְוָ֣ה הַזֹּ֔את אֲשֶׁ֛ר אָנֹכִ֥י מְצַוְּךָ֖ הַיּֽוֹם׃if only you obey the LORD your God and are careful to follow all these commandments I am giving you today.6Want die HERE jou God het jou geseën soos Hy aan jou gesê het. When the LORD your God blesses you as He has promised, you will lend to many nations but borrow from none; you will rule over many nations but be ruled by none.
If there is a poor man among your brothers within any of the gates in the land that the LORD your God is giving you, then you are not to harden your heart or shut your hand from your poor brother.8Maar jy moet jou hand sekerlik vir hom oopmaak en hom sekerlik leen, genoeg vir sy gebrek, wat hy ontbeer. Instead, you are to open your hand to him and freely loan him whatever he needs.9Wees op jou hoede dat daar nie 'n nikswerdige woord by jou hart is nie, naamlik: “Die sewende jaar is naby, die jaar van die kwytskelding,” en jou oog boos is teenoor jou broer, die arme, en jy niks aan hom gee nie, en hy oor jou na die HERE roep en dit sonde by jou word. Be careful not to harbor this wicked thought in your heart: “The seventh year, the year of release, is near,” so that you look upon your poor brother begrudgingly and give him nothing. He will cry out to the LORD against you, and you will be guilty of sin.10Jy moet hom sekerlik gee, en jou hart mag nie boos wees as jy aan hom gee nie, want ter wille van hierdie saak sal die HERE jou God jou seën in al jou werk en in alles waaraan jy jou hand slaan.aLetterlik: In alles waaraan jy jou hand slaan: letterlik in elke uitstuur van jou hand. Give generously to him, and do not let your heart be grieved when you do so. And because of this the LORD your God will bless you in all your work and in everything to which you put your hand.11Want die behoeftige sal nie ophou uit die midde van die land nie; daarom beveel ek jou en sê: “Jy moet jou hand wyd oopmaak vir jou broer, vir jou arme en vir jou behoeftige in jou land.” For there will never cease to be poor in the land; that is why I am commanding you to open wide your hand to your brother and to the poor and needy in your land.
If a fellow Hebrew, a man or a woman, is sold to you and serves you six years, then in the seventh year you must set him free.13En wanneer jy hom vry van jou af wegstuur, mag jy hom nie leeg wegstuur nie. And when you release him, do not send him away empty-handed.14Jy moet hom ruim voorsien uit jou kleinvee, uit jou dorsvloer en uit jou wynpers; waarmee die HERE jou God jou geseën het, moet jy aan hom gee. You are to furnish him liberally from your flock, your threshing floor, and your winepress. You shall give to him as the LORD your God has blessed you.15En jy moet onthou dat jy 'n slaaf in die land Egipte was en dat die HERE jou God jou losgekoop het; daarom beveel ek jou vandag hierdie saak. Remember that you were slaves in the land of Egypt, and the LORD your God redeemed you; that is why I am giving you this command today.16En as hy vir jou sê: “Ek sal nie van jou af weggaan nie,” omdat hy jou en jou huis liefhet, omdat dit vir hom goed is by jou,וְהָיָה֙ כִּֽי־יֹאמַ֣ר אֵלֶ֔יךָ לֹ֥א אֵצֵ֖א מֵעִמָּ֑ךְ כִּ֤י אֲהֵֽבְךָ֙ וְאֶת־בֵּיתֶ֔ךָ כִּי־ט֥וֹב ל֖וֹ עִמָּֽךְ׃But if your servant says to you, ‘I do not want to leave you,’ because he loves you and your household and is well off with you,17dan moet jy die els neem en dit in sy oor en in die deur steek, en hy sal vir ewig jou slaaf wees. וְלָקַחְתָּ֣ אֶת־הַמַּרְצֵ֗עַ וְנָתַתָּ֤ה בְאָזְנוֹ֙ וּבַדֶּ֔לֶת וְהָיָ֥ה לְךָ֖ עֶ֣בֶד עוֹלָ֑ם וְאַ֥ף לַאֲמָתְךָ֖ תַּעֲשֶׂה־כֵּֽן׃then take an awl and pierce it through his ear into the door, and he will become your servant for life. And treat your maidservant the same way.18Dit mag nie hard wees in jou oë as jy hom vry van jou af wegstuur nie, want dubbel die loon van 'n huurling het hy jou ses jaar gedien. Do not regard it as a hardship to set your servant free, because his six years of service were worth twice the wages of a hired hand. And the LORD your God will bless you in all you do.
You must set apart to the LORD your God every firstborn male produced by your herds and flocks.
