1En toe Hy ná etlike dae weer in Kapernaum ingekom het, is daar gehoor dat Hy tuis is.
aLetterlik: in 'n huis.
Καὶ ⸀εἰσελθὼν πάλιν εἰς Καφαρναοὺμ διʼ ⸀ἡμερῶν ἠκούσθη ὅτι ⸂ἐν οἴκῳ⸃ ἐστίν·A few days later Jesus went back to Capernaum. And when the people heard that He was home,
2En baie het saamgekom, sodat daar nie meer plek was nie, selfs nie by die deur nie; en Hy het die woord tot hulle gespreek.⸀καὶ συνήχθησαν πολλοὶ ὥστε μηκέτι χωρεῖν μηδὲ τὰ πρὸς τὴν θύραν, καὶ ἐλάλει αὐτοῖς τὸν λόγον.they gathered in such large numbers that there was no more room, not even outside the door, as Jesus spoke the word to them. 3En hulle kom en bring na Hom 'n verlamde man wat deur vier gedra word.καὶ ἔρχονται ⸂φέροντες πρὸς αὐτὸν παραλυτικὸν⸃ αἰρόμενον ὑπὸ τεσσάρων.Then a paralytic was brought to Him, carried by four men. 4En omdat hulle hom weens die skare nie na Hom kon bring nie, het hulle die dak oopgemaak waar Hy was, en nadat hulle dit uitgegrawe het, laat hulle die bed sak waarop die verlamde gelê het.καὶ μὴ δυνάμενοι ⸀προσενέγκαι αὐτῷ διὰ τὸν ὄχλον ἀπεστέγασαν τὴν στέγην ὅπου ἦν, καὶ ἐξορύξαντες χαλῶσι τὸν κράβαττον ⸀ὅπου ὁ παραλυτικὸς κατέκειτο.Since they were unable to get to Jesus through the crowd, they uncovered the roof above Him, made an opening, and lowered the paralytic on his mat. When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven.” 6Maar sommige van die skrifgeleerdes het daar gesit en in hulle harte geredeneer:ἦσαν δέ τινες τῶν γραμματέων ἐκεῖ καθήμενοι καὶ διαλογιζόμενοι ἐν ταῖς καρδίαις αὐτῶν·But some of the scribes were sitting there and thinking in their hearts, 7“Waarom praat hierdie een so? Hy laster! Wie kan sondes vergewe behalwe God alleen?”
aSommige manuskripte lees: Waarom praat hierdie een so lasterlik?
bLetterlik: behalwe een, God.
Τί οὗτος οὕτως λαλεῖ; ⸀βλασφημεῖ· τίς δύναται ἀφιέναι ἁμαρτίας εἰ μὴ εἷς ὁ θεός;“Why does this man speak like this? He is blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?”
8En Jesus het dadelik in Sy gees besef dat hulle so by hulleself redeneer, en Hy het vir hulle gesê: “Waarom redeneer julle hierdie dinge in julle harte?καὶ ⸀εὐθὺς ἐπιγνοὺς ὁ Ἰησοῦς τῷ πνεύματι αὐτοῦ ὅτι ⸀οὕτως διαλογίζονται ἐν ἑαυτοῖς ⸀λέγει αὐτοῖς· Τί ταῦτα διαλογίζεσθε ἐν ταῖς καρδίαις ὑμῶν;At once Jesus knew in His spirit that they were thinking this way within themselves. “Why are you thinking these things in your hearts?” He asked. 9Wat is makliker: om vir die verlamde te sê: ‘Jou sondes word vergewe,’ of om te sê: ‘Staan op en neem jou draagbed op en loop’?τί ἐστιν εὐκοπώτερον, εἰπεῖν τῷ παραλυτικῷ· ⸀Ἀφίενταί σου αἱ ἁμαρτίαι, ἢ εἰπεῖν· ⸀Ἔγειρε καὶ ἆρον ⸂τὸν κράβαττόν σου⸃ καὶ περιπάτει;“Which is easier: to say to a paralytic, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up, pick up your mat, and walk’? 10Maar sodat julle kan weet dat die Seun van die mens gesag het op die aarde om sondes te vergewe—” Hy sê vir die verlamde:ἵνα δὲ εἰδῆτε ὅτι ἐξουσίαν ἔχει ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ⸂ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς ἀφιέναι ἁμαρτίας⸃— λέγει τῷ παραλυτικῷ·But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins...” He said to the paralytic, 11“Vir jou sê Ek, staan op, tel jou bed op en gaan na jou huis toe.”Σοὶ λέγω, ⸀ἔγειρε ἆρον τὸν κράβαττόν σου καὶ ὕπαγε εἰς τὸν οἶκόν σου.“I tell you, get up, pick up your mat, and go home.” 12En hy het opgestaan en dadelik die draagbed opgeneem en voor almal uitgegaan, sodat almal verstom was en God verheerlik het en gesê het: “So iets het ons nog nooit gesien nie.”καὶ ἠγέρθη ⸂καὶ εὐθὺς⸃ ἄρας τὸν κράβαττον ἐξῆλθεν ⸀ἔμπροσθεν πάντων, ὥστε ἐξίστασθαι πάντας καὶ δοξάζειν τὸν θεὸν λέγοντας ὅτι ⸂Οὕτως οὐδέποτε⸃ εἴδομεν.And immediately the man got up, picked up his mat, and walked out in front of them all. As a result, they were all astounded and glorified God, saying, “We have never seen anything like this!”
13En Hy het weer uitgegaan langs die see; en die hele skare het na Hom gekom, en Hy het hulle geleer.Καὶ ἐξῆλθεν πάλιν παρὰ τὴν θάλασσαν· καὶ πᾶς ὁ ὄχλος ἤρχετο πρὸς αὐτόν, καὶ ἐδίδασκεν αὐτούς.Once again Jesus went out beside the sea. All the people came to Him, and He taught them there. 14En terwyl Hy verbygaan, het Hy Levi, die seun van Alfeus, by die tolhuis sien sit, en Hy het vir hom gesê: “Volg My.” As He was walking along, He saw Levi son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax booth. “Follow Me,” He told him, and Levi got up and followed Him.
aOf: in Sy huis.
While Jesus was dining at Levi’s house, many tax collectors and sinners were eating with Him and His disciples—for there were many who followed Him.
καὶ οἱ γραμματεῖς ⸂τῶν Φαρισαίων⸃ ⸀ἰδόντες ⸂ὅτι ἐσθίει⸃ μετὰ τῶν ⸂ἁμαρτωλῶν καὶ τελωνῶν⸃ ἔλεγον τοῖς μαθηταῖς αὐτοῦ· ⸀Ὅτι μετὰ τῶν ⸂τελωνῶν καὶ ἁμαρτωλῶν⸃ ⸀ἐσθίει;When the scribes who were Pharisees saw Jesus eating with these people, they asked His disciples, “Why does He eat with tax collectors and sinners?”
On hearing this, Jesus told them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”
καὶ ἔρχονται καὶ λέγουσιν αὐτῷ· Διὰ τί οἱ μαθηταὶ Ἰωάννου καὶ οἱ ⸀μαθηταὶ τῶν Φαρισαίων νηστεύουσιν, οἱ δὲ σοὶ μαθηταὶ οὐ νηστεύουσιν;Now John’s disciples and the Pharisees were often fasting. So people came to Jesus and asked, “Why don’t Your disciples fast like John’s disciples and those of the Pharisees?” 19En Jesus het vir hulle gesê: “Kan die bruilofsgaste, terwyl die bruidegom by hulle is, vas?
καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς ὁ Ἰησοῦς· Μὴ δύνανται οἱ υἱοὶ τοῦ νυμφῶνος ἐν ᾧ ὁ νυμφίος μετʼ αὐτῶν ἐστιν νηστεύειν; ὅσον χρόνον ⸂ἔχουσιν τὸν νυμφίον μετʼ αὐτῶν⸃ οὐ δύνανται νηστεύειν·Jesus replied, “How can the guests of the bridegroom fast while He is with them? As long as He is with them, they cannot fast.
aSommige manuskripte lees: in daardie dae.
ἐλεύσονται δὲ ἡμέραι ὅταν ἀπαρθῇ ἀπʼ αὐτῶν ὁ νυμφίος, καὶ τότε νηστεύσουσιν ἐν ⸂ἐκείνῃ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ⸃.But the time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them; then they will fast.
No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment. If he does, the new piece will pull away from the old, and a worse tear will result.
And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. If he does, the wine will burst the skins, and both the wine and the wineskins will be ruined. Instead, new wine is poured into new wineskins.”
One Sabbath Jesus was passing through the grainfields, and His disciples began to pick the heads of grain as they walked along.
καὶ οἱ Φαρισαῖοι ἔλεγον αὐτῷ· Ἴδε τί ⸀ποιοῦσιν τοῖς σάββασιν ὃ οὐκ ἔξεστιν;So the Pharisees said to Him, “Look, why are they doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath?”
25En Hy sê vir hulle: “Het julle nooit gelees wat Dawid gedoen het toe hy nood gehad het en honger geword het, hy en dié wat by hom was nie?καὶ ⸀λέγει αὐτοῖς· Οὐδέποτε ἀνέγνωτε τί ἐποίησεν Δαυὶδ ὅτε χρείαν ἔσχεν καὶ ἐπείνασεν αὐτὸς καὶ οἱ μετʼ αὐτοῦ;Jesus replied, “Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry and in need?
⸀πῶς εἰσῆλθεν εἰς τὸν οἶκον τοῦ θεοῦ ἐπὶ Ἀβιαθὰρ ἀρχιερέως καὶ τοὺς ἄρτους τῆς προθέσεως ἔφαγεν, οὓς οὐκ ἔξεστιν φαγεῖν εἰ μὴ ⸂τοὺς ἱερεῖς⸃, καὶ ἔδωκεν καὶ τοῖς σὺν αὐτῷ οὖσιν;During the high priesthood of Abiathar, he entered the house of God and ate the consecrated bread, which was lawful only for the priests. And he gave some to his companions as well.”
27En Hy het vir hulle gesê: “Die sabbat het ter wille van die mens ontstaan en nie die mens ter wille van die sabbat nie;καὶ ἔλεγεν αὐτοῖς· Τὸ σάββατον διὰ τὸν ἄνθρωπον ἐγένετο ⸀καὶ οὐχ ὁ ἄνθρωπος διὰ τὸ σάββατον·Then Jesus declared, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. 28sodat die Seun van die mens Here is, ook van die sabbat.”ὥστε κύριός ἐστιν ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου καὶ τοῦ σαββάτου.Therefore, the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.”
