1En die HERE het met Moses gepraat en gesê:וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֥ה לֵּאמֹֽר׃Then the LORD said to Moses, 2“En vir die Israeliete moet jy sê: ‘Elkeen van die Israeliete en van die vreemdeling wat as vreemdeling in Israel woon, wat van sy nageslag aan Molek gee, moet sekerlik gedood word; die volk van die land moet hom met klip stenig.וְאֶל־בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֘ל תֹּאמַר֒ אִ֣ישׁ אִישׁ֩ מִבְּנֵ֨י יִשְׂרָאֵ֜ל וּמִן־הַגֵּ֣ר׀ הַגָּ֣ר בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל אֲשֶׁ֨ר יִתֵּ֧ן מִזַּרְע֛וֹ לַמֹּ֖לֶךְ מ֣וֹת יוּמָ֑ת עַ֥ם הָאָ֖רֶץ יִרְגְּמֻ֥הוּ בָאָֽבֶן׃“Tell the Israelites, ‘Any Israelite or foreigner living in Israel who gives any of his children to Molech must be put to death. The people of the land are to stone him. 3En Ek self sal My aangesig teen daardie man stel en hom uit die midde van sy volk afsny, omdat hy van sy nageslag aan Molek gegee het, om My heiligdom onrein te maak en die naam van My heiligheid te ontheilig.וַאֲנִ֞י אֶתֵּ֤ן אֶת־פָּנַי֙ בָּאִ֣ישׁ הַה֔וּא וְהִכְרַתִּ֥י אֹת֖וֹ מִקֶּ֣רֶב עַמּ֑וֹ כִּ֤י מִזַּרְעוֹ֙ נָתַ֣ן לַמֹּ֔לֶךְ לְמַ֗עַן טַמֵּא֙ אֶת־מִקְדָּשִׁ֔י וּלְחַלֵּ֖ל אֶת־שֵׁ֥ם קָדְשִֽׁי׃And I will set My face against that man and cut him off from his people, because by giving his offspring to Molech, he has defiled My sanctuary and profaned My holy name. 4En as die volk van die land beslis hulle oë toemaak vir daardie man wanneer hy van sy nageslag aan Molek gee, om hom nie dood te maak nie,וְאִ֡ם הַעְלֵ֣ם יַעְלִימֽוּ֩ עַ֨ם הָאָ֜רֶץ אֶת־עֵֽינֵיהֶם֙ מִן־הָאִ֣ישׁ הַה֔וּא בְּתִתּ֥וֹ מִזַּרְע֖וֹ לַמֹּ֑לֶךְ לְבִלְתִּ֖י הָמִ֥ית אֹתֽוֹ׃And if the people of the land ever hide their eyes and fail to put to death the man who gives one of his children to Molech, 5dan sal Ek self My aangesig teen daardie man en teen sy familie rig, en Ek sal hom afsny, en almal wat agter hom aan ontrou is om agter Molek aan ontrou te wees, uit die midde van hulle volk.

Letterlik: hoereer.

וְשַׂמְתִּ֨י אֲנִ֧י אֶת־פָּנַ֛י בָּאִ֥ישׁ הַה֖וּא וּבְמִשְׁפַּחְתּ֑וֹ וְהִכְרַתִּ֨י אֹת֜וֹ וְאֵ֣ת׀ כָּל־הַזֹּנִ֣ים אַחֲרָ֗יו לִזְנ֛וֹת אַחֲרֵ֥י הַמֹּ֖לֶךְ מִקֶּ֥רֶב עַמָּֽם׃then I will set My face against that man and his family and cut off from among their people both him and all who follow him in prostituting themselves with Molech. 6En die persoon wat hom tot die dodegeeste en die waarsêgeeste wend om hulle ontrou na te loop — Ek sal My aangesig teen daardie persoon rig en hom uit die midde van sy volk uitroei.

Of: dodebesweerders en waarsêers.

Letterlik: om agter hulle aan te hoereer.

וְהַנֶּ֗פֶשׁ אֲשֶׁ֨ר תִּפְנֶ֤ה אֶל־הָֽאֹבֹת֙ וְאֶל־הַיִּדְּעֹנִ֔ים לִזְנ֖וֹת אַחֲרֵיהֶ֑ם וְנָתַתִּ֤י אֶת־פָּנַי֙ בַּנֶּ֣פֶשׁ הַהִ֔וא וְהִכְרַתִּ֥י אֹת֖וֹ מִקֶּ֥רֶב עַמּֽוֹ׃Whoever turns to mediums or spiritists to prostitute himself with them, I will also set My face against that person and cut him off from his people.

7En heilig julleself en wees heilig, want Ek is die HERE julle God.וְהִ֨תְקַדִּשְׁתֶּ֔ם וִהְיִיתֶ֖ם קְדֹשִׁ֑ים כִּ֛י אֲנִ֥י יְהוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶֽם׃Consecrate yourselves, therefore, and be holy, because I am the LORD your God. 8En onderhou My insettinge en doen dit. Ek is die HERE wat julle heilig.וּשְׁמַרְתֶּם֙ אֶת־חֻקֹּתַ֔י וַעֲשִׂיתֶ֖ם אֹתָ֑ם אֲנִ֥י יְהוָ֖ה מְקַדִּשְׁכֶֽם׃And you shall keep My statutes and practice them. I am the LORD who sanctifies you.

9Want elkeen wat sy vader en sy moeder vloek, moet sekerlik gedood word; hy het sy vader en sy moeder gevloek; sy bloed is op hom.

Letterlik: sy bloed is in hom.

כִּֽי־אִ֣ישׁ אִ֗ישׁ אֲשֶׁ֨ר יְקַלֵּ֧ל אֶת־אָבִ֛יו וְאֶת־אִמּ֖וֹ מ֣וֹת יוּמָ֑ת אָבִ֧יו וְאִמּ֛וֹ קִלֵּ֖ל דָּמָ֥יו בּֽוֹ׃If anyone curses his father or mother, he must be put to death. He has cursed his father or mother; his blood shall be upon him. 10En 'n man wat egbreuk pleeg met die vrou van 'n man, wat egbreuk pleeg met die vrou van sy naaste, moet sekerlik gedood word, die egbreker en die egbreekster.וְאִ֗ישׁ אֲשֶׁ֤ר יִנְאַף֙ אֶת־אֵ֣שֶׁת אִ֔ישׁ אֲשֶׁ֥ר יִנְאַ֖ף אֶת־אֵ֣שֶׁת רֵעֵ֑הוּ מֽוֹת־יוּמַ֥ת הַנֹּאֵ֖ף וְהַנֹּאָֽפֶת׃If a man commits adultery with another man’s wife—with the wife of his neighbor—both the adulterer and the adulteress must surely be put to death. 11En ’n man wat by die vrou van sy vader lê, het die naaktheid van sy vader ontbloot; hulle twee moet sekerlik gedood word; hulle bloed is op hulle.וְאִ֗ישׁ אֲשֶׁ֤ר יִשְׁכַּב֙ אֶת־אֵ֣שֶׁת אָבִ֔יו עֶרְוַ֥ת אָבִ֖יו גִּלָּ֑ה מֽוֹת־יוּמְת֥וּ שְׁנֵיהֶ֖ם דְּמֵיהֶ֥ם בָּֽם׃If a man lies with his father’s wife, he has uncovered his father’s nakedness. Both must surely be put to death; their blood is upon them. 12En 'n man wat by sy skoondogter lê, albei van hulle moet sekerlik gedood word; 'n verdorwenheid het hulle gedoen, hulle bloed is op hulle.וְאִ֗ישׁ אֲשֶׁ֤ר יִשְׁכַּב֙ אֶת־כַּלָּת֔וֹ מ֥וֹת יוּמְת֖וּ שְׁנֵיהֶ֑ם תֶּ֥בֶל עָשׂ֖וּ דְּמֵיהֶ֥ם בָּֽם׃If a man lies with his daughter-in-law, both must surely be put to death. They have acted perversely; their blood is upon them. 13En 'n man wat by 'n manspersoon lê soos by 'n vrou, 'n gruwel het albei van hulle gedoen; hulle moet sekerlik gedood word, hulle bloed is op hulle.

Letterlik: die beddegang van 'n vrou.

וְאִ֗ישׁ אֲשֶׁ֨ר יִשְׁכַּ֤ב אֶת־זָכָר֙ מִשְׁכְּבֵ֣י אִשָּׁ֔ה תּוֹעֵבָ֥ה עָשׂ֖וּ שְׁנֵיהֶ֑ם מ֥וֹת יוּמָ֖תוּ דְּמֵיהֶ֥ם בָּֽם׃If a man lies with a man as with a woman, they have both committed an abomination. They must surely be put to death; their blood is upon them. 14En 'n man wat 'n vrou en haar moeder neem, dit is ontug; hy en hulle moet met vuur verbrand word, en daar mag nie ontug in julle midde wees nie.וְאִ֗ישׁ אֲשֶׁ֨ר יִקַּ֧ח אֶת־אִשָּׁ֛ה וְאֶת־אִמָּ֖הּ זִמָּ֣ה הִ֑וא בָּאֵ֞שׁ יִשְׂרְפ֤וּ אֹתוֹ֙ וְאֶתְהֶ֔ן וְלֹא־תִהְיֶ֥ה זִמָּ֖ה בְּתוֹכְכֶֽם׃If a man marries both a woman and her mother, it is depraved. Both he and they must be burned in the fire, so that there will be no depravity among you. 15En ’n man wat met ’n dier gemeenskap het, moet sekerlik gedood word; en die dier moet julle doodmaak.

Letterlik: wat sy lê aan ’n dier gee.

וְאִ֗ישׁ אֲשֶׁ֨ר יִתֵּ֧ן שְׁכָבְתּ֛וֹ בִּבְהֵמָ֖ה מ֣וֹת יוּמָ֑ת וְאֶת־הַבְּהֵמָ֖ה תַּהֲרֹֽגוּ׃If a man lies carnally with an animal, he must be put to death. And you are also to kill the animal. 16En ’n vrou wat enige dier nader om daarmee gemeenskap te hê — jy moet die vrou en die dier doodmaak; hulle moet sekerlik gedood word; hulle bloed is op hulle.וְאִשָּׁ֗ה אֲשֶׁ֨ר תִּקְרַ֤ב אֶל־כָּל־בְּהֵמָה֙ לְרִבְעָ֣ה אֹתָ֔הּ וְהָרַגְתָּ֥ אֶת־הָאִשָּׁ֖ה וְאֶת־הַבְּהֵמָ֑ה מ֥וֹת יוּמָ֖תוּ דְּמֵיהֶ֥ם בָּֽם׃If a woman approaches any animal to mate with it, you must kill both the woman and the animal. They must surely be put to death; their blood is upon them. 17En 'n man wat sy suster neem, die dogter van sy vader of die dogter van sy moeder, en haar naaktheid sien en sy sien sy naaktheid, dit is skande; hulle moet afgesny word voor die oë van die kinders van hulle volk. Die naaktheid van sy suster het hy ontbloot; sy ongeregtigheid sal hy dra.וְאִ֣ישׁ אֲשֶׁר־יִקַּ֣ח אֶת־אֲחֹת֡וֹ בַּת־אָבִ֣יו א֣וֹ בַת־אִ֠מּוֹ וְרָאָ֨ה אֶת־עֶרְוָתָ֜הּ וְהִֽיא־תִרְאֶ֤ה אֶת־עֶרְוָתוֹ֙ חֶ֣סֶד ה֔וּא וְנִ֨כְרְת֔וּ לְעֵינֵ֖י בְּנֵ֣י עַמָּ֑ם עֶרְוַ֧ת אֲחֹת֛וֹ גִּלָּ֖ה עֲוֺנ֥וֹ יִשָּֽׂא׃If a man marries his sister, whether the daughter of his father or of his mother, and they have sexual relations, it is a disgrace. They must be cut off in the sight of their people. He has uncovered the nakedness of his sister; he shall bear his iniquity. 18En 'n man wat by 'n vrou lê wat ongesteld is en haar naaktheid ontbloot, haar bron het hy blootgelê, en sy het die bron van haar bloed ontbloot; albei van hulle moet uit die midde van hulle volk afgesny word.

Letterlik: siek.

וְ֠אִישׁ אֲשֶׁר־יִשְׁכַּ֨ב אֶת־אִשָּׁ֜ה דָּוָ֗ה וְגִלָּ֤ה אֶת־עֶרְוָתָהּ֙ אֶת־מְקֹרָ֣הּ הֶֽעֱרָ֔ה וְהִ֕יא גִּלְּתָ֖ה אֶת־מְק֣וֹר דָּמֶ֑יהָ וְנִכְרְת֥וּ שְׁנֵיהֶ֖ם מִקֶּ֥רֶב עַמָּֽם׃If a man lies with a menstruating woman and has sexual relations with her, he has exposed the source of her flow, and she has uncovered the source of her blood. Both of them must be cut off from among their people. 19En die naaktheid van die suster van jou moeder en van die suster van jou vader mag jy nie ontbloot nie, want sy naasbestaande het hy blootgelê; hulle ongeregtigheid sal hulle dra.

Letterlik: sy vlees.

וְעֶרְוַ֨ת אֲח֧וֹת אִמְּךָ֛ וַאֲח֥וֹת אָבִ֖יךָ לֹ֣א תְגַלֵּ֑ה כִּ֧י אֶת־שְׁאֵר֛וֹ הֶעֱרָ֖ה עֲוֺנָ֥ם יִשָּֽׂאוּ׃You must not have sexual relations with the sister of your mother or your father, for it is exposing one’s own kin; both shall bear their iniquity. 20En 'n man wat by sy tante lê, het die naaktheid van sy oom ontbloot; hulle sonde sal hulle dra; kinderloos sal hulle sterf.וְאִ֗ישׁ אֲשֶׁ֤ר יִשְׁכַּב֙ אֶת־דֹּ֣דָת֔וֹ עֶרְוַ֥ת דֹּד֖וֹ גִּלָּ֑ה חֶטְאָ֥ם יִשָּׂ֖אוּ עֲרִירִ֥ים יָמֻֽתוּ׃If a man lies with his uncle’s wife, he has uncovered the nakedness of his uncle. They will bear their sin; they shall die childless. 21En 'n man wat die vrou van sy broer neem, dit is onreinheid; die naaktheid van sy broer het hy ontbloot; kinderloos sal hulle wees.וְאִ֗ישׁ אֲשֶׁ֥ר יִקַּ֛ח אֶת־אֵ֥שֶׁת אָחִ֖יו נִדָּ֣ה הִ֑וא עֶרְוַ֥ת אָחִ֛יו גִּלָּ֖ה עֲרִירִ֥ים יִהְיֽוּ׃If a man marries his brother’s wife, it is an act of impurity. He has uncovered the nakedness of his brother; they shall be childless.

22En julle moet al My insettinge en al My verordeninge onderhou en dit doen, en die land waarheen Ek julle bring om daarin te woon, sal julle nie uitbraak nie.וּשְׁמַרְתֶּ֤ם אֶת־כָּל־חֻקֹּתַי֙ וְאֶת־כָּל־מִשְׁפָּטַ֔י וַעֲשִׂיתֶ֖ם אֹתָ֑ם וְלֹא־תָקִ֤יא אֶתְכֶם֙ הָאָ֔רֶץ אֲשֶׁ֨ר אֲנִ֜י מֵבִ֥יא אֶתְכֶ֛ם שָׁ֖מָּה לָשֶׁ֥בֶת בָּֽהּ׃You are therefore to keep all My statutes and ordinances, so that the land where I am bringing you to live will not vomit you out. 23En julle mag nie in die insettinge van die nasie wandel wat Ek voor julle vandaan wegstuur nie, want al hierdie dinge het hulle gedoen, en Ek het 'n afkeer van hulle gekry.וְלֹ֤א תֵֽלְכוּ֙ בְּחֻקֹּ֣ת הַגּ֔וֹי אֲשֶׁר־אֲנִ֥י מְשַׁלֵּ֖חַ מִפְּנֵיכֶ֑ם כִּ֤י אֶת־כָּל־אֵ֨לֶּה֙ עָשׂ֔וּ וָאָקֻ֖ץ בָּֽם׃You must not follow the statutes of the nations I am driving out before you. Because they did all these things, I abhorred them. 24En Ek het vir julle gesê: ‘Julle sal hulle grond in besit neem, en Ek sal dit aan julle gee om dit in besit te neem, ’n land wat oorloop van melk en heuning.’ Ek is die HERE julle God, wat julle van die volke afgesonder het.וָאֹמַ֣ר לָכֶ֗ם אַתֶּם֮ תִּֽירְשׁ֣וּ אֶת־אַדְמָתָם֒ וַאֲנִ֞י אֶתְּנֶ֤נָּה לָכֶם֙ לָרֶ֣שֶׁת אֹתָ֔הּ אֶ֛רֶץ זָבַ֥ת חָלָ֖ב וּדְבָ֑שׁ אֲנִי֙ יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶ֔ם אֲשֶׁר־הִבְדַּ֥לְתִּי אֶתְכֶ֖ם מִן־הָֽעַמִּֽים׃But I have told you that you will inherit their land, since I will give it to you as an inheritance—a land flowing with milk and honey. I am the LORD your God, who has set you apart from the peoples. 25En julle moet onderskeid maak tussen die rein dier en die onreine, en tussen die onrein voël en die reine; en julle mag julleself nie verfoeilik maak deur die diere en die voëls en deur alles wat op die grond kruip, wat Ek vir julle as onrein afgesonder het nie.וְהִבְדַּלְתֶּ֞ם בֵּֽין־הַבְּהֵמָ֤ה הַטְּהֹרָה֙ לַטְּמֵאָ֔ה וּבֵין־הָע֥וֹף הַטָּמֵ֖א לַטָּהֹ֑ר וְלֹֽא־תְשַׁקְּצ֨וּ אֶת־נַפְשֹֽׁתֵיכֶ֜ם בַּבְּהֵמָ֣ה וּבָע֗וֹף וּבְכֹל֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר תִּרְמֹ֣שׂ הָֽאֲדָמָ֔ה אֲשֶׁר־הִבְדַּ֥לְתִּי לָכֶ֖ם לְטַמֵּֽא׃You are therefore to distinguish between clean and unclean animals and birds. Do not become contaminated by any animal or bird, or by anything that crawls on the ground; I have set these apart as unclean for you. 26En julle moet vir My heilig wees, want heilig is Ek, die HERE, en Ek het julle van die volke afgeskei om Myne te wees.וִהְיִ֤יתֶם לִי֙ קְדֹשִׁ֔ים כִּ֥י קָד֖וֹשׁ אֲנִ֣י יְהוָ֑ה וָאַבְדִּ֥ל אֶתְכֶ֛ם מִן־הָֽעַמִּ֖ים לִהְי֥וֹת לִֽי׃You are to be holy to Me because I, the LORD, am holy, and I have set you apart from the nations to be My own. 27En 'n man of 'n vrou, as daar in hulle 'n dodegees of 'n waarsêgees is, moet sekerlik gedood word; met klip moet hulle gestenig word; hulle bloed is op hulle.’”וְאִ֣ישׁ אֽוֹ־אִשָּׁ֗ה כִּֽי־יִהְיֶ֨ה בָהֶ֥ם א֛וֹב א֥וֹ יִדְּעֹנִ֖י מ֣וֹת יוּמָ֑תוּ בָּאֶ֛בֶן יִרְגְּמ֥וּ אֹתָ֖ם דְּמֵיהֶ֥ם בָּֽם׃ פA man or a woman who is a medium or spiritist must surely be put to death. They shall be stoned; their blood is upon them.’”
