1En dit het gebeur, toe Hy op 'n sabbat in die huis van een van die leiers van die Fariseërs ingegaan het om brood te eet, dat hulle Hom noukeurig dopgehou het.Καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τῷ ἐλθεῖν αὐτὸν εἰς οἶκόν τινος τῶν ἀρχόντων τῶν Φαρισαίων σαββάτῳ φαγεῖν ἄρτον καὶ αὐτοὶ ἦσαν παρατηρούμενοι αὐτόν.One Sabbath, Jesus went to eat in the home of a leading Pharisee, and those in attendance were watching Him closely. 2En kyk, daar was 'n sekere mens voor Hom wat aan waterseer gely het.καὶ ἰδοὺ ἄνθρωπός τις ἦν ὑδρωπικὸς ἔμπροσθεν αὐτοῦ.Right there before Him was a man with dropsy.
καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν πρὸς τοὺς νομικοὺς καὶ Φαρισαίους λέγων· ⸀Ἔξεστιν τῷ σαββάτῳ ⸂θεραπεῦσαι ἢ οὔ⸃;So Jesus asked the experts in the law and the Pharisees, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath or not?”
But they remained silent. Then Jesus took hold of the man, healed him, and sent him on his way. 5En Hy het vir hulle gesê: “Wie van julle se seun of os sal in 'n put val, en hy sal hom nie dadelik op die sabbatdag uittrek nie?”⸀καὶ πρὸς αὐτοὺς εἶπεν· Τίνος ὑμῶν υἱὸς ἢ βοῦς εἰς φρέαρ ⸀πεσεῖται, καὶ οὐκ εὐθέως ἀνασπάσει αὐτὸν ⸀ἐν ἡμέρᾳ τοῦ σαββάτου;And He asked them, “Which of you whose son or ox falls into a pit on the Sabbath day will not immediately pull him out?” 6En hulle was nie in staat om hierop te antwoord nie.καὶ οὐκ ἴσχυσαν ⸀ἀνταποκριθῆναι πρὸς ταῦτα.And they were unable to answer these questions.
7Hy het ook vir die wat geroep was 'n gelykenis gesê, terwyl Hy gelet het hoe hulle die voorste plekke uitgekies het, en vir hulle gesê:Ἔλεγεν δὲ πρὸς τοὺς κεκλημένους παραβολήν, ἐπέχων πῶς τὰς πρωτοκλισίας ἐξελέγοντο, λέγων πρὸς αὐτούς·When Jesus noticed how the guests chose the places of honor, He told them a parable: 8“Wanneer iemand jou na 'n bruilof roep, moenie op die voorste plek gaan sit nie, sodat iemand wat meer vereer word as jy, nie dalk deur hom geroep is nie,Ὅταν κληθῇς ὑπό τινος εἰς γάμους, μὴ κατακλιθῇς εἰς τὴν πρωτοκλισίαν, μήποτε ἐντιμότερός σου ᾖ κεκλημένος ὑπʼ αὐτοῦ“When you are invited to a wedding banquet, do not sit in the place of honor, in case someone more distinguished than you has been invited. 9en hy wat jou en hom geroep het, sal kom en vir jou sê: ‘Gee aan hierdie een plek’, en dan sal jy met skaamte begin om die laaste plek in te neem.καὶ ἐλθὼν ὁ σὲ καὶ αὐτὸν καλέσας ἐρεῖ σοι· Δὸς τούτῳ τόπον, καὶ τότε ἄρξῃ μετὰ αἰσχύνης τὸν ἔσχατον τόπον κατέχειν.Then the host who invited both of you will come and tell you, ‘Give this man your seat.’ And in humiliation, you will have to take the last place. But when you are invited, go and sit in the last place, so that your host will come and tell you, ‘Friend, move up to a better place.’ Then you will be honored in front of everyone at the table with you. 11Want elkeen wat homself verhoog, sal verneder word, en hy wat homself verneder, sal verhoog word.”ὅτι πᾶς ὁ ὑψῶν ἑαυτὸν ταπεινωθήσεται καὶ ὁ ταπεινῶν ἑαυτὸν ὑψωθήσεται.For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”
12Hy het ook vir hom wat Hom geroep het, gesê: “Wanneer jy 'n middagete of 'n aandmaal gee, moenie jou vriende roep nie, ook nie jou broers nie, ook nie jou familie nie, ook nie ryk bure nie, sodat hulle nie dalk ook jou terugroep en 'n vergelding vir jou kom nie.Ἔλεγεν δὲ καὶ τῷ κεκληκότι αὐτόν· Ὅταν ποιῇς ἄριστον ἢ δεῖπνον, μὴ φώνει τοὺς φίλους σου μηδὲ τοὺς ἀδελφούς σου μηδὲ τοὺς συγγενεῖς σου μηδὲ γείτονας πλουσίους, μήποτε καὶ αὐτοὶ ⸂ἀντικαλέσωσίν σε⸃ καὶ γένηται ⸂ἀνταπόδομά σοι⸃.Then Jesus said to the man who had invited Him, “When you host a dinner or a banquet, do not invite your friends or brothers or relatives or rich neighbors. Otherwise, they may invite you in return, and you will be repaid. 13Maar wanneer jy 'n onthaal gee, roep armes, verminktes, kreupeles, blindes;ἀλλʼ ὅταν ⸂δοχὴν ποιῇς⸃, κάλει πτωχούς, ἀναπείρους, χωλούς, τυφλούς·But when you host a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, and the blind, 14en jy sal gelukkig wees, omdat hulle niks het om jou mee te vergoed nie; want dit sal vir jou vergoed word by die opstanding van die regverdiges.”καὶ μακάριος ἔσῃ, ὅτι οὐκ ἔχουσιν ἀνταποδοῦναί σοι, ἀνταποδοθήσεται γάρ σοι ἐν τῇ ἀναστάσει τῶν δικαίων.and you will be blessed. Since they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.”
aSommige manuskripte lees: ete eet.
When one of those reclining with Him heard this, he said to Jesus, “Blessed is everyone who will eat at the feast in the kingdom of God.”
16Maar Hy het vir hom gesê: “'n Mens het 'n groot aandmaal gemaak en baie mense geroep,ὁ δὲ εἶπεν αὐτῷ· Ἄνθρωπός τις ⸀ἐποίει δεῖπνον μέγα, καὶ ἐκάλεσεν πολλούς,But Jesus replied, “A certain man prepared a great banquet and invited many guests. 17en hy het sy slaaf gestuur op die uur van die aandmaal om vir die wat geroep was te sê: ‘Kom, want dit is al gereed.’καὶ ἀπέστειλεν τὸν δοῦλον αὐτοῦ τῇ ὥρᾳ τοῦ δείπνου εἰπεῖν τοῖς κεκλημένοις· Ἔρχεσθε, ὅτι ἤδη ἕτοιμά ⸀ἐστιν.When it was time for the banquet, he sent his servant to tell those who had been invited, ‘Come, for everything is now ready.’ 18En almal het eenparig begin om verskoning te vra.
But one after another they all began to make excuses. The first one said, ‘I have bought a field, and I need to go see it. Please excuse me.’
19En 'n ander het gesê: ‘Ek het vyf paar osse gekoop en ek gaan om hulle te toets; ek vra jou, beskou my as verskoon.’καὶ ἕτερος εἶπεν· Ζεύγη βοῶν ἠγόρασα πέντε καὶ πορεύομαι δοκιμάσαι αὐτά· ἐρωτῶ σε, ἔχε με παρῃτημένον.Another said, ‘I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I am going to try them out. Please excuse me.’ 20En 'n ander het gesê: ‘Ek het 'n vrou getrou en daarom kan ek nie kom nie.’καὶ ἕτερος εἶπεν· Γυναῖκα ἔγημα καὶ διὰ τοῦτο οὐ δύναμαι ἐλθεῖν.Still another said, ‘I have married a wife, so I cannot come.’ 21En die slaaf het gekom en dit aan sy heer vertel. Toe het die huisheer kwaad geword en vir sy slaaf gesê: ‘Gaan gou uit na die strate en stegies van die stad en bring die armes en verminktes en blindes en kreupeles hier in.’καὶ παραγενόμενος ὁ ⸀δοῦλος ἀπήγγειλεν τῷ κυρίῳ αὐτοῦ ταῦτα. The servant returned and reported all this to his master. Then the owner of the house became angry and said to his servant, ‘Go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the city, and bring in the poor, the crippled, the blind, and the lame.’ 22En die slaaf het gesê: ‘Heer, wat u beveel het, is gedoen, en daar is nog plek.’καὶ εἶπεν ὁ δοῦλος· Κύριε, γέγονεν ⸀ὃ ἐπέταξας, καὶ ἔτι τόπος ἐστίν.‘Sir,’ the servant replied, ‘what you ordered has been done, and there is still room.’ 23En die heer het vir die slaaf gesê: ‘Gaan uit na die paaie en heinings en dwing hulle om in te kom, sodat my huis vol kan word.καὶ εἶπεν ὁ κύριος πρὸς τὸν δοῦλον· Ἔξελθε εἰς τὰς ὁδοὺς καὶ φραγμοὺς καὶ ἀνάγκασον εἰσελθεῖν, ἵνα γεμισθῇ ⸂μου ὁ οἶκος⸃·So the master told his servant, ‘Go out to the highways and hedges and compel them to come in, so that my house will be full. 24want ek sê vir julle dat nie een van daardie manne wat geroep was, van my aandmaal sal proe nie.’”
aSommige manuskripte lees: Sommige manuskripte voeg by: Want baie is geroep, maar min is uitverkies.
For I tell you, not one of those men who were invited will taste my banquet.’”
25En groot skares het saam met Hom gereis, en Hy het omgedraai en vir hulle gesê:Συνεπορεύοντο δὲ αὐτῷ ὄχλοι πολλοί, καὶ στραφεὶς εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτούς·Now large crowds were traveling with Jesus, and He turned and said to them, 26“As iemand na My toe kom en nie sy eie vader en moeder en vrou en kinders en broers en susters haat nie, ja, selfs sy eie lewe, kan hy nie My dissipel wees nie.
aOf: siel.
Εἴ τις ἔρχεται πρός με καὶ οὐ μισεῖ τὸν πατέρα ⸀ἑαυτοῦ καὶ τὴν μητέρα καὶ τὴν γυναῖκα καὶ τὰ τέκνα καὶ τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς καὶ τὰς ἀδελφάς, ἔτι ⸀τε καὶ τὴν ⸂ψυχὴν ἑαυτοῦ⸃, οὐ δύναται ⸂εἶναί μου μαθητής⸃.“If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters—yes, even his own life—he cannot be My disciple.
27Wie sy eie kruis nie dra en agter My aan kom nie, kan nie My dissipel wees nie.⸀ὅστις οὐ βαστάζει τὸν σταυρὸν ⸀ἑαυτοῦ καὶ ἔρχεται ὀπίσω μου, οὐ δύναται εἶναί μου μαθητής.And whoever does not carry his cross and follow Me cannot be My disciple. 28Want wie van julle wat 'n toring wil bou, gaan nie eers sit en die koste bereken, of hy genoeg het om dit te voltooi nie?τίς γὰρ ἐξ ⸀ὑμῶν θέλων πύργον οἰκοδομῆσαι οὐχὶ πρῶτον καθίσας ψηφίζει τὴν δαπάνην, εἰ ⸀ἔχει εἰς ἀπαρτισμόν;Which of you, wishing to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost to see if he has the resources to complete it? 29sodat nie, nadat hy die fondament gelê het en nie in staat is om dit klaar te maak nie, almal wat dit sien, hom begin bespot nie,ἵνα μήποτε θέντος αὐτοῦ θεμέλιον καὶ μὴ ἰσχύοντος ἐκτελέσαι πάντες οἱ θεωροῦντες ἄρξωνται ⸂αὐτῷ ἐμπαίζειν⸃Otherwise, if he lays the foundation and is unable to finish the work, everyone who sees it will ridicule him, 30en sê: ‘Hierdie mens het begin bou en kon nie klaarmaak nie.’λέγοντες ὅτι Οὗτος ὁ ἄνθρωπος ἤρξατο οἰκοδομεῖν καὶ οὐκ ἴσχυσεν ἐκτελέσαι.saying, ‘This man could not finish what he started to build.’ 31Of watter koning wat optrek om teen 'n ander koning oorlog te voer, gaan nie eers sit en beraadslaag of hy in staat is om met 10 000 die een te ontmoet wat met 20 000 teen hom kom nie?ἢ τίς βασιλεὺς πορευόμενος ⸂ἑτέρῳ βασιλεῖ συμβαλεῖν⸃ εἰς πόλεμον οὐχὶ καθίσας πρῶτον ⸀βουλεύσεται εἰ δυνατός ἐστιν ἐν δέκα χιλιάσιν ⸀ὑπαντῆσαι τῷ μετὰ εἴκοσι χιλιάδων ἐρχομένῳ ἐπʼ αὐτόν;Or what king on his way to war with another king will not first sit down and consider whether he can engage with ten thousand men the one coming against him with twenty thousand? 32En as nie, stuur hy, terwyl die ander nog ver is, 'n gesantskap en vra na wat tot vrede dien.εἰ δὲ μήγε, ἔτι ⸂αὐτοῦ πόρρω⸃ ὄντος πρεσβείαν ἀποστείλας ἐρωτᾷ ⸀τὰ πρὸς εἰρήνην.And if he is unable, he will send a delegation while the other king is still far off, to ask for terms of peace. 33So dan, elkeen van julle wat nie afstand doen van alles wat hy besit nie, kan nie My dissipel wees nie.οὕτως οὖν πᾶς ἐξ ὑμῶν ὃς οὐκ ἀποτάσσεται πᾶσιν τοῖς ἑαυτοῦ ὑπάρχουσιν οὐ δύναται ⸂εἶναί μου⸃ μαθητής.In the same way, any one of you who does not give up everything he has cannot be My disciple.
Καλὸν ⸀οὖν τὸ ἅλας· ἐὰν δὲ ⸀καὶ τὸ ἅλας μωρανθῇ, ἐν τίνι ἀρτυθήσεται;Salt is good, but if the salt loses its savor, with what will it be seasoned?
It is fit neither for the soil nor for the manure pile, and it is thrown out. He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”
