1Nadat Hy die twaalf bymekaargeroep het, het Hy aan hulle krag en gesag gegee oor al die demone en om siektes te genees,Συγκαλεσάμενος δὲ τοὺς δώδεκα ἔδωκεν αὐτοῖς δύναμιν καὶ ἐξουσίαν ἐπὶ πάντα τὰ δαιμόνια καὶ νόσους θεραπεύειν,Then Jesus called the Twelve together and gave them power and authority over all demons, and power to cure diseases.2en Hy het hulle gestuur om die koninkryk van God te verkondig en die siekes gesond te maak,καὶ ἀπέστειλεν αὐτοὺς κηρύσσειν τὴν βασιλείαν τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ ἰᾶσθαι ⸂τοὺς ἀσθενεῖς⸃,And He sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.3En Hy het vir hulle gesê: “Neem niks vir die pad saam nie: geen staf nie, geen reiszak nie, geen brood nie, geen geld nie, en moenie elkeen twee onderklere hê nie.καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτούς· Μηδὲν αἴρετε εἰς τὴν ὁδόν, μήτε ⸀ῥάβδον μήτε πήραν μήτε ἄρτον μήτε ἀργύριον, μήτε ⸀ἀνὰ δύο χιτῶνας ἔχειν.“Take nothing for the journey,” He told them, “no staff, no bag, no bread, no money, no second tunic.4En in watter huis julle ook al ingaan, bly daar en vertrek van daar.καὶ εἰς ἣν ἂν οἰκίαν εἰσέλθητε, ἐκεῖ μένετε καὶ ἐκεῖθεν ἐξέρχεσθε.Whatever house you enter, stay there until you leave that area.5En almal wat julle nie ontvang nie – as julle uit daardie stad uitgaan, skud die stof van julle voete af as getuienis teen hulle.”καὶ ὅσοι ⸀ἂν μὴ ⸀δέχωνται ὑμᾶς, ἐξερχόμενοι ἀπὸ τῆς πόλεως ⸀ἐκείνης τὸν κονιορτὸν ἀπὸ τῶν ποδῶν ὑμῶν ⸀ἀποτινάσσετε εἰς μαρτύριον ἐπʼ αὐτούς.If anyone does not welcome you, shake the dust off your feet when you leave that town, as a testimony against them.”6Hulle het toe vertrek en deur die dorpe gegaan, terwyl hulle die evangelie verkondig en oral genees het.ἐξερχόμενοι δὲ διήρχοντο κατὰ τὰς κώμας εὐαγγελιζόμενοι καὶ θεραπεύοντες πανταχοῦ.So they set out and went from village to village, preaching the gospel and healing people everywhere.
7Herodes, die tetrarg, het van alles wat gebeur het gehoor, en hy was in verwarring, omdat deur sommige gesê is dat Johannes uit die dode opgewek is,aSommige manuskripte lees: alles wat deur Hom gebeur het.Ἤκουσεν δὲ Ἡρῴδης ὁ τετραάρχης τὰ ⸀γινόμενα πάντα, καὶ διηπόρει διὰ τὸ λέγεσθαι ὑπό τινων ὅτι Ἰωάννης ⸀ἠγέρθη ἐκ νεκρῶν,When Herod the tetrarch heard about all that was happening, he was perplexed. For some were saying that John had risen from the dead,8en deur sommige dat Elia verskyn het, en deur ander dat 'n profeet uit die ou tyd opgestaan het.ὑπό τινων δὲ ὅτι Ἠλίας ἐφάνη, ἄλλων δὲ ὅτι προφήτης ⸀τις τῶν ἀρχαίων ἀνέστη.others that Elijah had appeared, and still others that a prophet of old had arisen.9Herodes het gesê: “Johannes het ek onthoof; maar wie is hierdie een van wie ek sulke dinge hoor?” En hy het probeer om Hom te sien.⸂εἶπεν δὲ⸃ ⸀ὁ Ἡρῴδης· Ἰωάννην ἐγὼ ἀπεκεφάλισα· τίς δέ ἐστιν οὗτος περὶ ⸀οὗ ἀκούω τοιαῦτα; καὶ ἐζήτει ἰδεῖν αὐτόν.“I beheaded John,” Herod said, “but who is this man I hear such things about?” And he kept trying to see Jesus.
καὶ παραλαβὼν αὐτοὺς ὑπεχώρησεν κατʼ ἰδίαν εἰς ⸂πόλιν καλουμένην Βηθσαϊδά⸃.Then the apostles returned and reported to Jesus all that they had done. Taking them away privately, He withdrew to a town called Bethsaida.11Maar toe die skares dit te wete kom, het hulle Hom gevolg. But the crowds found out and followed Him. He welcomed them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and He healed those who needed healing.12Die dag het begin daal; en die twaalf het nader gekom en vir Hom gesê: “Stuur die skare weg, sodat hulle na die omliggende dorpe en plase kan gaan om te oornag en kos te kry, want ons is hier op 'n eensame plek.”Ἡ δὲ ἡμέρα ἤρξατο κλίνειν· προσελθόντες δὲ οἱ δώδεκα εἶπαν αὐτῷ· Ἀπόλυσον τὸν ὄχλον, ἵνα ⸀πορευθέντες εἰς τὰς κύκλῳ κώμας ⸀καὶ ἀγροὺς καταλύσωσιν καὶ εὕρωσιν ἐπισιτισμόν, ὅτι ὧδε ἐν ἐρήμῳ τόπῳ ἐσμέν.As the day neared its end, the Twelve came to Jesus and said, “Dismiss the crowd so they can go to the surrounding villages and countryside for lodging and provisions. For we are in a desolate place here.”13Maar Hy het vir hulle gesê: “Gee julle vir hulle om te eet.” En hulle het gesê: “Ons het nie meer as vyf brode en twee visse nie, tensy ons self sou gaan en kos koop vir hierdie hele volk.”εἶπεν δὲ πρὸς αὐτούς· Δότε αὐτοῖς ⸂ὑμεῖς φαγεῖν⸃. But Jesus told them, “You give them something to eat.” “We have only five loaves of bread and two fish,” they answered, “unless we go and buy food for all these people.”14Want daar was omtrent 5 000 mans. Hy het toe vir Sy dissipels gesê: “Laat hulle in groepe van omtrent 50 elk aansit.”ἦσαν γὰρ ὡσεὶ ἄνδρες πεντακισχίλιοι. εἶπεν δὲ πρὸς τοὺς μαθητὰς αὐτοῦ· Κατακλίνατε αὐτοὺς κλισίας ⸀ὡσεὶ ἀνὰ πεντήκοντα.(There were about five thousand men.) He told His disciples, “Have them sit down in groups of about fifty each.”15En hulle het so gedoen en almal laat aansit.καὶ ἐποίησαν οὕτως καὶ ⸀κατέκλιναν ἅπαντας.They did so, and everyone was seated.16Hy het toe die vyf brode en die twee visse geneem, na die hemel opgekyk, dit geseën en gebreek, en dit aan die dissipels gegee om aan die skare voor te sit.λαβὼν δὲ τοὺς πέντε ἄρτους καὶ τοὺς δύο ἰχθύας ἀναβλέψας εἰς τὸν οὐρανὸν εὐλόγησεν αὐτοὺς καὶ κατέκλασεν καὶ ἐδίδου τοῖς μαθηταῖς ⸀παραθεῖναι τῷ ὄχλῳ.Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, Jesus spoke a blessing and broke them. Then He gave them to the disciples to set before the people.17En hulle het geëet en almal is versadig, en wat vir hulle oorgebly het van die stukke, is opgetel: twaalf mandjies.καὶ ἔφαγον καὶ ἐχορτάσθησαν πάντες, καὶ ἤρθη τὸ περισσεῦσαν αὐτοῖς κλασμάτων κόφινοι δώδεκα.They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.
18En dit het gebeur toe Hy alleen aan die bid was, dat die dissipels by Hom was; en Hy het hulle gevra: “Wie sê die skares is Ek?”Καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τῷ εἶναι αὐτὸν προσευχόμενον κατὰ μόνας συνῆσαν αὐτῷ οἱ μαθηταί, καὶ ἐπηρώτησεν αὐτοὺς λέγων· Τίνα με ⸂οἱ ὄχλοι λέγουσιν⸃ εἶναι;One day as Jesus was praying in private and the disciples were with Him, He questioned them: “Who do the crowds say I am?”19Hulle het geantwoord en gesê: “Johannes die Doper; maar ander sê Elia, en ander dat 'n profeet uit die ou tyd opgestaan het.”οἱ δὲ ἀποκριθέντες εἶπαν· Ἰωάννην τὸν βαπτιστήν, ἄλλοι δὲ Ἠλίαν, ἄλλοι δὲ ὅτι προφήτης τις τῶν ἀρχαίων ἀνέστη.They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, that a prophet of old has arisen.”20Maar Hy het vir hulle gesê: “Maar julle, wie sê julle is Ek?” En Petrus het geantwoord en gesê: “Die Christus van God.”εἶπεν δὲ αὐτοῖς· Ὑμεῖς δὲ τίνα με λέγετε εἶναι; ⸂Πέτρος δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς⸃ εἶπεν· Τὸν χριστὸν τοῦ θεοῦ.“But what about you?” Jesus asked. “Who do you say I am?” Peter answered, “The Christ of God.”21Maar Hy het hulle streng gewaarsku en beveel om dit vir niemand te sê nie,Ὁ δὲ ἐπιτιμήσας αὐτοῖς παρήγγειλεν μηδενὶ ⸀λέγειν τοῦτο,Jesus strictly warned them not to tell this to anyone.22en gesê: “Die Seun van die mens moet baie ly en verwerp word deur die oudstes en leierpriesters en skrifgeleerdes, en doodgemaak word en op die derde dag opgewek word.”εἰπὼν ὅτι Δεῖ τὸν υἱὸν τοῦ ἀνθρώπου πολλὰ παθεῖν καὶ ἀποδοκιμασθῆναι ἀπὸ τῶν πρεσβυτέρων καὶ ἀρχιερέων καὶ γραμματέων καὶ ἀποκτανθῆναι καὶ τῇ τρίτῃ ἡμέρᾳ ⸀ἐγερθῆναι.“The Son of Man must suffer many things,” He said. “He must be rejected by the elders, chief priests, and scribes, and He must be killed and on the third day be raised to life.”
23En Hy het vir almal gesê: “As iemand agter My aan wil kom, moet hy homself verloën en elke dag sy kruis opneem en My volg.aSommige manuskripte lees: moet hy homself verloën en sy kruis opneem en My volg.Ἔλεγεν δὲ πρὸς πάντας· Εἴ τις θέλει ὀπίσω μου ⸂ἔρχεσθαι, ἀρνησάσθω⸃ ἑαυτὸν καὶ ἀράτω τὸν σταυρὸν αὐτοῦ ⸂καθʼ ἡμέραν⸃, καὶ ἀκολουθείτω μοι.Then Jesus said to all of them, “If anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow Me.24Want wie sy lewe wil red, sal dit verloor; maar wie sy lewe ter wille van My verloor, hy sal dit red.aOf: sy sielὃς γὰρ ⸀ἂν θέλῃ τὴν ψυχὴν αὐτοῦ σῶσαι, ἀπολέσει αὐτήν· ὃς δʼ ἂν ἀπολέσῃ τὴν ψυχὴν αὐτοῦ ἕνεκεν ἐμοῦ, οὗτος σώσει αὐτήν.For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it.25Want wat baat dit 'n mens as hy die hele wêreld wen, maar homself verloor of skade ly?τί γὰρ ὠφελεῖται ἄνθρωπος κερδήσας τὸν κόσμον ὅλον ἑαυτὸν δὲ ἀπολέσας ἢ ζημιωθείς;What does it profit a man to gain the whole world, yet lose or forfeit his very self?26Want wie hom vir My en My woorde skaam, vir hom sal die Seun van die mens Hom skaam wanneer Hy in Sy heerlikheid kom en in dié van die Vader en van die heilige engele.ὃς γὰρ ἂν ἐπαισχυνθῇ με καὶ τοὺς ἐμοὺς λόγους, τοῦτον ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἐπαισχυνθήσεται, ὅταν ἔλθῃ ἐν τῇ δόξῃ αὐτοῦ καὶ τοῦ πατρὸς καὶ τῶν ἁγίων ἀγγέλων.If anyone is ashamed of Me and My words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when He comes in His glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.27Maar Ek sê vir julle, waarlik: daar is sommige van dié wat hier staan wat die dood beslis nie sal smaak voordat hulle die koninkryk van God gesien het nie.”λέγω δὲ ὑμῖν ἀληθῶς, εἰσίν τινες τῶν ⸀αὐτοῦ ⸀ἑστηκότων οἳ οὐ μὴ γεύσωνται θανάτου ἕως ἂν ἴδωσιν τὴν βασιλείαν τοῦ θεοῦ.But I tell you truly, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the kingdom of God.”
About eight days after Jesus had said these things, He took with Him Peter, John, and James, and went up on a mountain to pray.29En terwyl Hy bid, het die voorkoms van Sy gesig anders geword en Sy kleding wit, blinkend soos weerlig.καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τῷ προσεύχεσθαι αὐτὸν τὸ εἶδος τοῦ προσώπου αὐτοῦ ἕτερον καὶ ὁ ἱματισμὸς αὐτοῦ λευκὸς ἐξαστράπτων.And as He was praying, the appearance of His face changed, and His clothes became radiantly white.30En kyk, twee manne het met Hom gepraat; dit was Moses en Elia,καὶ ἰδοὺ ἄνδρες δύο συνελάλουν αὐτῷ, οἵτινες ἦσαν Μωϋσῆς καὶ Ἠλίας,Suddenly two men, Moses and Elijah, began talking with Jesus.31wat in heerlikheid verskyn het en gepraat het oor Sy heengaan wat Hy in Jerusalem op die punt was om te volbring.aLetterlik: uittog.οἳ ὀφθέντες ἐν δόξῃ ἔλεγον τὴν ἔξοδον αὐτοῦ ἣν ἤμελλεν πληροῦν ἐν Ἰερουσαλήμ.They appeared in glory and spoke about His departure, which He was about to accomplish at Jerusalem.32Maar Petrus en dié wat saam met hom was, was swaar van slaap; en toe hulle heeltemal wakker word, het hulle Sy heerlikheid gesien en die twee mans wat by Hom gestaan het.ὁ δὲ Πέτρος καὶ οἱ σὺν αὐτῷ ἦσαν βεβαρημένοι ὕπνῳ· διαγρηγορήσαντες δὲ εἶδον τὴν δόξαν αὐτοῦ καὶ τοὺς δύο ἄνδρας τοὺς συνεστῶτας αὐτῷ.Meanwhile Peter and his companions were overcome by sleep, but when they awoke, they saw Jesus’ glory and the two men standing with Him.33En dit het gebeur toe hulle van Hom af weggaan, dat Petrus vir Jesus gesê het: “Meester, dit is goed dat ons hier is; laat ons drie tente maak, een vir U en een vir Moses en een vir Elia,” sonder om te weet wat hy sê.καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τῷ διαχωρίζεσθαι αὐτοὺς ἀπʼ αὐτοῦ εἶπεν ⸀ὁ Πέτρος πρὸς τὸν Ἰησοῦν· Ἐπιστάτα, καλόν ἐστιν ἡμᾶς ὧδε εἶναι, καὶ ποιήσωμεν σκηνὰς τρεῖς, μίαν σοὶ καὶ μίαν Μωϋσεῖ καὶ μίαν Ἠλίᾳ, μὴ εἰδὼς ὃ λέγει.As Moses and Elijah were leaving, Peter said to Jesus, “Master, it is good for us to be here. Let us put up three shelters —one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” (He did not know what he was saying.)34Terwyl hy dit sê, het 'n wolk gekom en hulle oorskadu; en hulle het bang geword toe hulle in die wolk ingaan.ταῦτα δὲ αὐτοῦ λέγοντος ἐγένετο νεφέλη καὶ ⸀ἐπεσκίαζεν αὐτούς· ἐφοβήθησαν δὲ ἐν τῷ ⸂εἰσελθεῖν αὐτοὺς⸃ εἰς τὴν νεφέλην.While Peter was speaking, a cloud appeared and enveloped them, and they were afraid as they entered the cloud.35En 'n stem het uit die wolk gekom wat sê: “Dit is My Seun, die Uitverkorene; luister na Hom.”aSommige manuskripte lees: Dit is My geliefde Seun.καὶ φωνὴ ἐγένετο ἐκ τῆς νεφέλης λέγουσα· Οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ υἱός μου ὁ ⸀ἐκλελεγμένος, αὐτοῦ ἀκούετε.And a voice came from the cloud, saying, “This is My Son, whom I have chosen. Listen to Him!”36En toe die stem gekom het, is Jesus alleen gevind. En hulle het stilgebly en in daardie dae aan niemand iets vertel van wat hulle gesien het nie.καὶ ἐν τῷ γενέσθαι τὴν φωνὴν ⸀εὑρέθη Ἰησοῦς μόνος. After the voice had spoken, only Jesus was present with them. The disciples kept this to themselves, and in those days they did not tell anyone what they had seen.
The next day, when they came down from the mountain, Jesus was met by a large crowd.38En kyk, 'n man uit die skare het uitgeroep en gesê: “Meester, ek smeek U, kyk na my seun, want hy is my enigste kind;καὶ ἰδοὺ ἀνὴρ ἀπὸ τοῦ ὄχλου ⸀ἐβόησεν λέγων· Διδάσκαλε, δέομαί σου ἐπιβλέψαι ἐπὶ τὸν υἱόν μου, ὅτι μονογενής ⸂μοί ἐστιν⸃,Suddenly a man in the crowd cried out, “Teacher, I beg You to look at my son, for he is my only child.39en kyk, 'n gees gryp hom, en skielik skree dit, en dit pluk hom met skuim, en dit gaan met moeite van hom weg terwyl dit hom stukkend skeur;καὶ ἰδοὺ πνεῦμα λαμβάνει αὐτόν, καὶ ἐξαίφνης κράζει, καὶ σπαράσσει αὐτὸν μετὰ ἀφροῦ καὶ ⸀μόγις ἀποχωρεῖ ἀπʼ αὐτοῦ συντρῖβον αὐτόν·A spirit keeps seizing him, and he screams abruptly. It throws him into convulsions so that he foams at the mouth. It keeps mauling him and rarely departs from him.40en ek het U dissipels gesmeek om dit uit te dryf, en hulle kon nie.”καὶ ἐδεήθην τῶν μαθητῶν σου ἵνα ἐκβάλωσιν αὐτό, καὶ οὐκ ἠδυνήθησαν.I begged Your disciples to drive it out, but they were unable.”41Maar Jesus het geantwoord en gesê: “O ongelowige en verdraaide geslag, hoe lank sal Ek by julle wees en julle verdra? Bring jou seun hierheen.”ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν· Ὦ γενεὰ ἄπιστος καὶ διεστραμμένη, ἕως πότε ἔσομαι πρὸς ὑμᾶς καὶ ἀνέξομαι ὑμῶν; προσάγαγε ⸂ὧδε τὸν υἱόν σου⸃.“O unbelieving and perverse generation!” Jesus replied. “How long must I remain with you and put up with you? Bring your son here.”42Maar terwyl hy nog nader kom, het die demoon hom neergegooi en hewig laat stuiptrek. Even while the boy was approaching, the demon slammed him to the ground in a convulsion. But Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, healed the boy, and gave him back to his father.43En almal was verstom oor die grootheid van God. Maar terwyl almal hulle verwonder oor alles wat Hy gedoen het, het Hy vir Sy dissipels gesê:ἐξεπλήσσοντο δὲ πάντες ἐπὶ τῇ μεγαλειότητι τοῦ θεοῦ. Πάντων δὲ θαυμαζόντων ἐπὶ πᾶσιν οἷς ⸀ἐποίει εἶπεν πρὸς τοὺς μαθητὰς αὐτοῦ·And they were all astonished at the greatness of God. While everyone was marveling at all that Jesus was doing, He said to His disciples,44“Sit julle hierdie woorde in julle ore, want die Seun van die mens gaan in die hande van mense oorgelewer word.”Θέσθε ὑμεῖς εἰς τὰ ὦτα ὑμῶν τοὺς λόγους τούτους, ὁ γὰρ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου μέλλει παραδίδοσθαι εἰς χεῖρας ἀνθρώπων.“Let these words sink into your ears: The Son of Man is about to be delivered into the hands of men.”45Maar hulle het hierdie uitspraak nie verstaan nie, en dit was vir hulle verborge sodat hulle dit nie sou begryp nie; en hulle was bang om Hom oor hierdie uitspraak te vra.οἱ δὲ ἠγνόουν τὸ ῥῆμα τοῦτο, καὶ ἦν παρακεκαλυμμένον ἀπʼ αὐτῶν ἵνα μὴ αἴσθωνται αὐτό, καὶ ἐφοβοῦντο ἐρωτῆσαι αὐτὸν περὶ τοῦ ῥήματος τούτου.But they did not understand this statement. It was veiled from them so that they could not comprehend it, and they were afraid to ask Him about it.
46Daar het 'n redenasie onder hulle opgekom oor wie van hulle die grootste sou wees.Εἰσῆλθεν δὲ διαλογισμὸς ἐν αὐτοῖς, τὸ τίς ἂν εἴη μείζων αὐτῶν.Then an argument started among the disciples as to which of them would be the greatest.47Maar Jesus, wat die redenasie van hulle hart geken het, het 'n kindjie geneem en dit langs Hom laat staan,ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς ⸀εἰδὼς τὸν διαλογισμὸν τῆς καρδίας αὐτῶν ἐπιλαβόμενος ⸀παιδίον ἔστησεν αὐτὸ παρʼ ἑαυτῷ,But Jesus, knowing the thoughts of their hearts, had a little child stand beside Him.48en Hy het vir hulle gesê: “Wie hierdie kindjie in My naam ontvang, ontvang My; en wie My ontvang, ontvang Hom wat My gestuur het. And He said to them, “Whoever welcomes this little child in My name welcomes Me, and whoever welcomes Me welcomes the One who sent Me. For whoever is the least among all of you, he is the greatest.”
49Johannes het geantwoord en gesê: “Meester, ons het iemand gesien wat in U naam demone uitdryf, en ons het hom verhinder, omdat hy nie saam met ons volg nie.”aOf: ons het hom probeer verhinderἈποκριθεὶς ⸀δὲ Ἰωάννης εἶπεν· Ἐπιστάτα, εἴδομέν τινα ⸀ἐν τῷ ὀνόματί σου ἐκβάλλοντα δαιμόνια, καὶ ⸀ἐκωλύομεν αὐτὸν ὅτι οὐκ ἀκολουθεῖ μεθʼ ἡμῶν.“Master,” said John, “we saw someone driving out demons in Your name, and we tried to stop him, because he does not accompany us.”50Maar Jesus het vir hom gesê: “Moenie verhinder nie, want wie nie teen julle is nie, is vir julle.”aSommige manuskripte lees: wie nie teen ons is nie, is vir ons.⸂εἶπεν δὲ⸃ πρὸς αὐτὸν ⸀ὁ Ἰησοῦς· Μὴ κωλύετε, ὃς γὰρ οὐκ ἔστιν καθʼ ⸂ὑμῶν ὑπὲρ ὑμῶν⸃ ἐστιν.“Do not stop him,” Jesus replied, “for whoever is not against you is for you.”
51En dit het gebeur toe die dae van Sy opneming vervul word, dat Hy Sy gesig vasberade gerig het om na Jerusalem te gaan,aLetterlik: het Hy Sy gesig vasgemaak om na Jerusalem te gaan.Ἐγένετο δὲ ἐν τῷ συμπληροῦσθαι τὰς ἡμέρας τῆς ἀναλήμψεως αὐτοῦ καὶ αὐτὸς τὸ ⸀πρόσωπον ⸀ἐστήρισεν τοῦ πορεύεσθαι εἰς Ἰερουσαλήμ,As the day of His ascension approached, Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem.52en Hy het boodskappers voor Hom uit gestuur. En hulle het gegaan en in 'n dorp van die Samaritane ingegaan om vir Hom voor te berei;καὶ ἀπέστειλεν ἀγγέλους πρὸ προσώπου αὐτοῦ. καὶ πορευθέντες εἰσῆλθον εἰς κώμην Σαμαριτῶν, ⸀ὡς ἑτοιμάσαι αὐτῷ·He sent messengers on ahead, who went into a village of the Samaritans to make arrangements for Him.53en hulle het Hom nie ontvang nie, omdat Sy gesig op pad was na Jerusalem.καὶ οὐκ ἐδέξαντο αὐτόν, ὅτι τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ ἦν πορευόμενον εἰς Ἰερουσαλήμ.But the people there refused to welcome Him, because He was heading for Jerusalem.54Toe die dissipels Jakobus en Johannes dit sien, het hulle gesê: “Here, wil U hê ons moet sê dat vuur uit die hemel moet neerdaal en hulle verteer?”aSommige manuskripte lees: en hulle verteer, soos Elia ook gedoen het?ἰδόντες δὲ οἱ ⸀μαθηταὶ Ἰάκωβος καὶ Ἰωάννης εἶπαν· Κύριε, θέλεις εἴπωμεν πῦρ καταβῆναι ἀπὸ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ ἀναλῶσαι ⸀αὐτούς;When the disciples James and John saw this, they asked, “Lord, do You want us to call down fire from heaven to consume them?”55Maar Hy het omgedraai en hulle bestraf.aSommige manuskripte lees: hulle bestraf en gesê: “Julle weet nie van watter gees julle is nie.”στραφεὶς δὲ ἐπετίμησεν ⸀αὐτοῖς.But Jesus turned and rebuked them.56En hulle het na 'n ander dorp gegaan.aSommige manuskripte lees: “Want die Seun van die mens het nie gekom om mense se lewens te verwoes nie, maar om te red.” En hulle het na 'n ander dorp gegaan.⸀καὶ ἐπορεύθησαν εἰς ἑτέραν κώμην.And He and His disciples went on to another village.
57En terwyl hulle op pad was, het iemand vir Hom gesê: “Ek sal U volg waar U ook al heengaan.”aSommige manuskripte lees: waar U ook al heengaan, Here.⸀Καὶ πορευομένων αὐτῶν ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ εἶπέν τις πρὸς αὐτόν· Ἀκολουθήσω σοι ὅπου ⸀ἐὰν ⸀ἀπέρχῃ.As they were walking along the road, someone said to Jesus, “I will follow You wherever You go.”58En Jesus het vir hom gesê: “Die jakkalse het gate en die voëls van die hemel neste, maar die Seun van die mens het nie 'n plek waar Hy Sy hoof kan neerlê nie.”καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ ὁ Ἰησοῦς· Αἱ ἀλώπεκες φωλεοὺς ἔχουσιν καὶ τὰ πετεινὰ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ κατασκηνώσεις, ὁ δὲ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου οὐκ ἔχει ποῦ τὴν κεφαλὴν κλίνῃ.Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay His head.”59En Hy het vir 'n ander gesê: “Volg My.” Maar hy het gesê: “Here, laat my toe om eers te gaan en my vader te begrawe.”εἶπεν δὲ πρὸς ἕτερον· Ἀκολούθει μοι. Then He said to another man, “Follow Me.” The man replied, “Lord, first let me go and bury my father.”60Maar Hy het vir hom gesê: “Laat die dooies hulle eie dooies begrawe; maar jy, gaan en verkondig die koninkryk van God.”εἶπεν δὲ ⸀αὐτῷ· Ἄφες τοὺς νεκροὺς θάψαι τοὺς ἑαυτῶν νεκρούς, σὺ δὲ ἀπελθὼν διάγγελλε τὴν βασιλείαν τοῦ θεοῦ.But Jesus told him, “Let the dead bury their own dead. You, however, go and proclaim the kingdom of God.”61En nog 'n ander het gesê: “Ek sal U volg, Here; maar laat my eers toe om afskeid te neem van dié in my huis.”εἶπεν δὲ καὶ ἕτερος· Ἀκολουθήσω σοι, κύριε· πρῶτον δὲ ἐπίτρεψόν μοι ἀποτάξασθαι τοῖς εἰς τὸν οἶκόν μου.Still another said, “I will follow You, Lord; but first let me bid farewell to my family.”62Maar Jesus het gesê: “Niemand wat sy hand aan die ploeg slaan en na agter kyk, is geskik vir die koninkryk van God nie.”εἶπεν δὲ ⸂ὁ Ἰησοῦς⸃· Οὐδεὶς ἐπιβαλὼν τὴν ⸀χεῖρα ἐπʼ ἄροτρον καὶ βλέπων εἰς τὰ ὀπίσω εὔθετός ἐστιν ⸂τῇ βασιλείᾳ⸃ τοῦ θεοῦ.Then Jesus declared, “No one who puts his hand to the plow and then looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.”
