aOf: dienskneg.
Παῦλος δοῦλος ⸂Χριστοῦ Ἰησοῦ⸃, κλητὸς ἀπόστολος, ἀφωρισμένος εἰς εὐαγγέλιον θεοῦPaul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle, and set apart for the gospel of God—
2wat Hy vooraf beloof het deur Sy profete in heilige Skrifte,ὃ προεπηγγείλατο διὰ τῶν προφητῶν αὐτοῦ ἐν γραφαῖς ἁγίαιςthe gospel He promised beforehand through His prophets in the Holy Scriptures, 3aangaande Sy Seun, wat uit die nageslag van Dawid gebore is volgens die vlees,
aLetterlik: saad.
περὶ τοῦ υἱοῦ αὐτοῦ, τοῦ γενομένου ἐκ σπέρματος Δαυὶδ κατὰ σάρκα,regarding His Son, who was a descendant of David according to the flesh,
τοῦ ὁρισθέντος υἱοῦ θεοῦ ἐν δυνάμει κατὰ πνεῦμα ἁγιωσύνης ἐξ ἀναστάσεως νεκρῶν, Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ τοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶν,and who through the Spirit of holiness was declared with power to be the Son of God by His resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord.
5deur wie ons genade en apostelskap ontvang het, tot gehoorsaamheid van geloof onder al die nasies, ter wille van Sy naam,διʼ οὗ ἐλάβομεν χάριν καὶ ἀποστολὴν εἰς ὑπακοὴν πίστεως ἐν πᾶσιν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν ὑπὲρ τοῦ ὀνόματος αὐτοῦ,Through Him and on behalf of His name, we received grace and apostleship to call all those among the Gentiles to the obedience that comes from faith. 6onder wie julle ook is, geroepenes van Jesus Christus,ἐν οἷς ἐστε καὶ ὑμεῖς κλητοὶ Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ,And you also are among those who are called to belong to Jesus Christ. 7aan almal wat in Rome is, geliefdes van God, geroepe heiliges: Genade vir julle en vrede van God ons Vader en die Here Jesus Christus.πᾶσιν τοῖς οὖσιν ἐν Ῥώμῃ ἀγαπητοῖς θεοῦ, κλητοῖς ἁγίοις· χάρις ὑμῖν καὶ εἰρήνη ἀπὸ θεοῦ πατρὸς ἡμῶν καὶ κυρίου Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ.To all in Rome who are loved by God and called to be saints: Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
8Eerstens dank ek my God deur Jesus Christus oor julle almal, omdat julle geloof in die hele wêreld verkondig word.Πρῶτον μὲν εὐχαριστῶ τῷ θεῷ μου διὰ Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ ⸀περὶ πάντων ὑμῶν, ὅτι ἡ πίστις ὑμῶν καταγγέλλεται ἐν ὅλῳ τῷ κόσμῳ.First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith is being proclaimed all over the world. 9Want God is my getuie, vir Wie ek dien in my gees in die evangelie van Sy Seun, hoe ek onophoudelik van julle melding maakμάρτυς γάρ μού ἐστιν ὁ θεός, ᾧ λατρεύω ἐν τῷ πνεύματί μου ἐν τῷ εὐαγγελίῳ τοῦ υἱοῦ αὐτοῦ, ὡς ἀδιαλείπτως μνείαν ὑμῶν ποιοῦμαιGod, whom I serve with my spirit in preaching the gospel of His Son, is my witness how constantly I remember you 10altyd in my gebede, terwyl ek smeek of ek miskien nou eindelik deur die wil van God daarin sal slaag om na julle te kom.
aLetterlik: 'n voorspoedige weg sal kry.
πάντοτε ἐπὶ τῶν προσευχῶν μου, δεόμενος εἴ πως ἤδη ποτὲ εὐοδωθήσομαι ἐν τῷ θελήματι τοῦ θεοῦ ἐλθεῖν πρὸς ὑμᾶς.in my prayers at all times, asking that now at last by God’s will I may succeed in coming to you.
11Want ek verlang daarna om julle te sien, sodat ek julle een of ander geestelike genadegawe kan meedeel, sodat julle versterk word,ἐπιποθῶ γὰρ ἰδεῖν ὑμᾶς, ἵνα τι μεταδῶ χάρισμα ὑμῖν πνευματικὸν εἰς τὸ στηριχθῆναι ὑμᾶς,For I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to strengthen you, 12dit is, om saam onder julle bemoedig te word deur die geloof wat in mekaar is, julle s'n sowel as myne.τοῦτο δέ ἐστιν συμπαρακληθῆναι ἐν ὑμῖν διὰ τῆς ἐν ἀλλήλοις πίστεως ὑμῶν τε καὶ ἐμοῦ.that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith.
aLetterlik: broers.
οὐ θέλω δὲ ὑμᾶς ἀγνοεῖν, ἀδελφοί, ὅτι πολλάκις προεθέμην ἐλθεῖν πρὸς ὑμᾶς, καὶ ἐκωλύθην ἄχρι τοῦ δεῦρο, ἵνα τινὰ καρπὸν σχῶ καὶ ἐν ὑμῖν καθὼς καὶ ἐν τοῖς λοιποῖς ἔθνεσιν.I do not want you to be unaware, brothers, how often I planned to come to you (but have been prevented from visiting until now), in order that I might have a harvest among you, just as I have had among the other Gentiles.
14Teenoor Grieke sowel as barbare, wyses sowel as onverstandiges is ek 'n skuldenaar;Ἕλλησίν τε καὶ βαρβάροις, σοφοῖς τε καὶ ἀνοήτοις ὀφειλέτης εἰμί·I am obligated both to Greeks and non-Greeks, both to the wise and the foolish. 15so is daar by my die bereidwilligheid om ook aan julle wat in Rome is, die evangelie te verkondig.οὕτως τὸ κατʼ ἐμὲ πρόθυμον καὶ ὑμῖν τοῖς ἐν Ῥώμῃ εὐαγγελίσασθαι.That is why I am so eager to preach the gospel also to you who are in Rome.
Οὐ γὰρ ἐπαισχύνομαι τὸ ⸀εὐαγγέλιον, δύναμις γὰρ θεοῦ ἐστιν εἰς σωτηρίαν παντὶ τῷ πιστεύοντι, Ἰουδαίῳ τε πρῶτον καὶ Ἕλληνι·I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, first to the Jew, then to the Greek.
For the gospel reveals the righteousness of God that comes by faith from start to finish, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”
aOf: terughou.
Ἀποκαλύπτεται γὰρ ὀργὴ θεοῦ ἀπʼ οὐρανοῦ ἐπὶ πᾶσαν ἀσέβειαν καὶ ἀδικίαν ἀνθρώπων τῶν τὴν ἀλήθειαν ἐν ἀδικίᾳ κατεχόντων,The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness.
For what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them.
20Want Sy onsigbare dinge word van die skepping van die wêreld af duidelik gesien, deurdat dit uit Sy werke verstaan word, naamlik Sy ewige krag en goddelikheid, sodat hulle sonder verontskuldiging is,τὰ γὰρ ἀόρατα αὐτοῦ ἀπὸ κτίσεως κόσμου τοῖς ποιήμασιν νοούμενα καθορᾶται, ἥ τε ἀΐδιος αὐτοῦ δύναμις καὶ θειότης, εἰς τὸ εἶναι αὐτοὺς ἀναπολογήτους,For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood from His workmanship, so that men are without excuse. 21omdat hulle, hoewel hulle God geken het, Hom nie as God verheerlik of gedank het nie, maar in hulle redenasies ydel geword het en hulle onverstandige hart verduister is.διότι γνόντες τὸν θεὸν οὐχ ὡς θεὸν ἐδόξασαν ἢ ηὐχαρίστησαν, ἀλλὰ ἐματαιώθησαν ἐν τοῖς διαλογισμοῖς αὐτῶν καὶ ἐσκοτίσθη ἡ ἀσύνετος αὐτῶν καρδία·For although they knew God, they neither glorified Him as God nor gave thanks to Him, but they became futile in their thinking and darkened in their foolish hearts. 22Terwyl hulle beweer het dat hulle wys is, het hulle dwaas geword,φάσκοντες εἶναι σοφοὶ ἐμωράνθησαν,Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools, 23en hulle het die heerlikheid van die onverganklike God verruil vir die gelykenis van 'n beeld van 'n verganklike mens en van voëls en viervoetige diere en kruipende diere.καὶ ἤλλαξαν τὴν δόξαν τοῦ ἀφθάρτου θεοῦ ἐν ὁμοιώματι εἰκόνος φθαρτοῦ ἀνθρώπου καὶ πετεινῶν καὶ τετραπόδων καὶ ἑρπετῶν.and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images of mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles.
aOf: in hulleself.
⸀Διὸ παρέδωκεν αὐτοὺς ὁ θεὸς ἐν ταῖς ἐπιθυμίαις τῶν καρδιῶν αὐτῶν εἰς ἀκαθαρσίαν τοῦ ἀτιμάζεσθαι τὰ σώματα αὐτῶν ἐν ⸀αὐτοῖς,Therefore God gave them over in the desires of their hearts to impurity for the dishonoring of their bodies with one another.
They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is forever worthy of praise! Amen.
26Daarom het God hulle oorgegee aan drifte van oneer, want hulle vroue het die natuurlike gebruik verruil vir dié wat teen die natuur is,Διὰ τοῦτο παρέδωκεν αὐτοὺς ὁ θεὸς εἰς πάθη ἀτιμίας· αἵ τε γὰρ θήλειαι αὐτῶν μετήλλαξαν τὴν φυσικὴν χρῆσιν εἰς τὴν παρὰ φύσιν,For this reason God gave them over to dishonorable passions. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. 27en net so het ook die mans die natuurlike gebruik van die vrou prysgegee en in hulle drif vir mekaar ontvlam, mans met mans wat die skandelikheid bedryf en in hulleself die vergelding ontvang wat vir hulle dwaling vereis is.ὁμοίως τε καὶ οἱ ἄρσενες ἀφέντες τὴν φυσικὴν χρῆσιν τῆς θηλείας ἐξεκαύθησαν ἐν τῇ ὀρέξει αὐτῶν εἰς ἀλλήλους, ἄρσενες ἐν ἄρσεσιν τὴν ἀσχημοσύνην κατεργαζόμενοι καὶ τὴν ἀντιμισθίαν ἣν ἔδει τῆς πλάνης αὐτῶν ἐν ⸀ἑαυτοῖς ἀπολαμβάνοντες.Likewise, the men abandoned natural relations with women and burned with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men and received in themselves the due penalty for their error. 28En net soos hulle dit nie goed gedink het om God in kennis te hou nie, het God hulle oorgegee aan ’n verwerplike verstand, om te doen wat nie betaamlik is nie,Καὶ καθὼς οὐκ ἐδοκίμασαν τὸν θεὸν ἔχειν ἐν ἐπιγνώσει, παρέδωκεν αὐτοὺς ὁ θεὸς εἰς ἀδόκιμον νοῦν, ποιεῖν τὰ μὴ καθήκοντα,Furthermore, since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, He gave them up to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done. 29vervul met alle ongeregtigheid, boosheid, hebsug, slegtheid; vol afguns, moord, twis, bedrog, kwaadwilligheid; skinderaars,
aSommige manuskripte lees: alle ongeregtigheid, hoerery, boosheid.
bLetterlik: fluisteraars.
πεπληρωμένους πάσῃ ⸀ἀδικίᾳ πονηρίᾳ πλεονεξίᾳ κακίᾳ, μεστοὺς φθόνου φόνου ἔριδος δόλου κακοηθείας, ψιθυριστάς,They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed, and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, and malice. They are gossips,
They invent new forms of evil; they disobey their parents.
31onverstandiges, woordbrekers, sonder natuurlike liefde, sonder barmhartigheid;
aSommige manuskripte lees: sonder natuurlike liefde, onversoenlik, sonder barmhartigheid.
ἀσυνέτους, ἀσυνθέτους, ⸀ἀστόργους, ἀνελεήμονας·They are senseless, faithless, heartless, merciless.
32hulle wat, hoewel hulle die verordening van God ken, dat dié wat sulke dinge doen die dood werd is, dit nie alleen self doen nie, maar ook dié wat dit doen, goedkeur.οἵτινες τὸ δικαίωμα τοῦ θεοῦ ἐπιγνόντες, ὅτι οἱ τὰ τοιαῦτα πράσσοντες ἄξιοι θανάτου εἰσίν, οὐ μόνον αὐτὰ ποιοῦσιν ἀλλὰ καὶ συνευδοκοῦσιν τοῖς πράσσουσιν.Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things are worthy of death, they not only continue to do these things, but also approve of those who practice them.
