1En ek, broers en susters, kon nie met julle praat soos met geestelikes nie, maar soos met vleeslikes, soos met kindertjies in Christus.Κἀγώ, ἀδελφοί, οὐκ ἠδυνήθην ⸂λαλῆσαι ὑμῖν⸃ ὡς πνευματικοῖς ἀλλʼ ὡς ⸀σαρκίνοις, ὡς νηπίοις ἐν Χριστῷ.Brothers, I could not address you as spiritual, but as worldly—as infants in Christ. ἀλλʼ ⸀οὐδὲ ἔτι νῦν δύνασθε,I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for solid food. In fact, you are still not ready, 3want julle is nog van vlees.
bLetterlik: volgens mens.
ὅπου γὰρ ἐν ὑμῖν ζῆλος καὶ ⸀ἔρις, οὐχὶ σαρκικοί ἐστε καὶ κατὰ ἄνθρωπον περιπατεῖτε;for you are still worldly. For since there is jealousy and dissension among you, are you not worldly? Are you not walking in the way of man?
ὅταν γὰρ λέγῃ τις· Ἐγὼ μέν εἰμι Παύλου, ἕτερος δέ· Ἐγὼ Ἀπολλῶ, ⸂οὐκ ἄνθρωποί⸃ ἐστε;For when one of you says, “I follow Paul,” and another, “I follow Apollos,” are you not mere men?
What then is Apollos? And what is Paul? They are servants through whom you believed, as the Lord has assigned to each his role.
6Ek het geplant, Apollos het te drinke gegee, maar God het laat groei.ἐγὼ ἐφύτευσα, Ἀπολλῶς ἐπότισεν, ἀλλὰ ὁ θεὸς ηὔξανεν·I planted the seed and Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. 7Dus is nóg hy wat plant iets, nóg hy wat te drinke gee, maar God wat laat groei.ὥστε οὔτε ὁ φυτεύων ἐστίν τι οὔτε ὁ ποτίζων, ἀλλʼ ὁ αὐξάνων θεός.So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. 8Hy wat plant en hy wat te drinke gee, is een, maar elkeen sal sy eie loon ontvang volgens sy eie arbeid,ὁ φυτεύων δὲ καὶ ὁ ποτίζων ἕν εἰσιν, ἕκαστος δὲ τὸν ἴδιον μισθὸν λήμψεται κατὰ τὸν ἴδιον κόπον,He who plants and he who waters are one in purpose, and each will be rewarded according to his own labor. 9want ons is God se medewerkers; julle is God se akker, God se gebou.θεοῦ γάρ ἐσμεν συνεργοί· θεοῦ γεώργιον, θεοῦ οἰκοδομή ἐστε.For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, God’s building.
ἕκαστος δὲ βλεπέτω πῶς ἐποικοδομεῖ·By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as an expert builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one must be careful how he builds. 11want niemand kan ’n ander fondament lê as dié wat gelê is nie, wat Jesus Christus is.θεμέλιον γὰρ ἄλλον οὐδεὶς δύναται θεῖναι παρὰ τὸν κείμενον, ὅς ἐστιν Ἰησοῦς Χριστός·For no one can lay a foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12En as iemand op die fondament bou met goud, silwer, kosbare stene, hout, hooi, strooi,εἰ δέ τις ἐποικοδομεῖ ἐπὶ τὸν ⸀θεμέλιον ⸂χρυσόν, ἄργυρον⸃, λίθους τιμίους, ξύλα, χόρτον, καλάμην,If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, or straw, 13sal elkeen se werk openbaar word, want die dag sal dit duidelik maak, omdat dit met vuur geopenbaar word; en die vuur self sal toets watter soort werk elkeen s'n is.ἑκάστου τὸ ἔργον φανερὸν γενήσεται, ἡ γὰρ ἡμέρα δηλώσει· ὅτι ἐν πυρὶ ἀποκαλύπτεται, καὶ ἑκάστου τὸ ἔργον ὁποῖόν ἐστιν τὸ πῦρ ⸀αὐτὸ δοκιμάσει.his workmanship will be evident, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will prove the quality of each man’s work. 14As iemand se werk bly staan wat hy daarop gebou het, sal hy loon ontvang;εἴ τινος τὸ ἔργον μενεῖ ὃ ἐποικοδόμησεν, μισθὸν λήμψεται·If what he has built survives, he will receive a reward. 15as iemand se werk verbrand word, sal hy skade ly, maar hy self sal gered word, maar so soos deur vuur.εἴ τινος τὸ ἔργον κατακαήσεται, ζημιωθήσεται, αὐτὸς δὲ σωθήσεται, οὕτως δὲ ὡς διὰ πυρός.If it is burned up, he will suffer loss. He himself will be saved, but only as if through the flames.
aOf: heiligdom.
Οὐκ οἴδατε ὅτι ναὸς θεοῦ ἐστε καὶ τὸ πνεῦμα τοῦ θεοῦ ⸂οἰκεῖ ἐν ὑμῖν⸃;Do you not know that you yourselves are God’s temple, and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?
17As iemand die tempel van God verwoes, sal God hom verwoes; want die tempel van God is heilig, en dit is julle.εἴ τις τὸν ναὸν τοῦ θεοῦ φθείρει, φθερεῖ τοῦτον ὁ θεός· ὁ γὰρ ναὸς τοῦ θεοῦ ἅγιός ἐστιν, οἵτινές ἐστε ὑμεῖς.If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him; for God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple.
18Laat niemand homself bedrieg nie. As iemand onder julle dink dat hy wys is in hierdie tyd, laat hom dwaas word, sodat hy wys kan word,Μηδεὶς ἑαυτὸν ἐξαπατάτω· εἴ τις δοκεῖ σοφὸς εἶναι ἐν ὑμῖν ἐν τῷ αἰῶνι τούτῳ, μωρὸς γενέσθω, ἵνα γένηται σοφός,Let no one deceive himself. If any of you thinks he is wise in this age, he should become a fool, so that he may become wise.
ἡ γὰρ σοφία τοῦ κόσμου τούτου μωρία παρὰ τῷ θεῷ ἐστιν· γέγραπται γάρ· Ὁ δρασσόμενος τοὺς σοφοὺς ἐν τῇ πανουργίᾳ αὐτῶν·For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God’s sight. As it is written: “He catches the wise in their craftiness.”
And again, “The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile.”
21Laat niemand dus op mense roem nie; want alles is julle s’n,ὥστε μηδεὶς καυχάσθω ἐν ἀνθρώποις· πάντα γὰρ ὑμῶν ἐστιν,Therefore, stop boasting in men. All things are yours, 22of Paulus, of Apollos, of Kefas, of die wêreld, of lewe, of dood, of teenwoordige dinge, of toekomstige dinge, alles is julle s’n,εἴτε Παῦλος εἴτε Ἀπολλῶς εἴτε Κηφᾶς εἴτε κόσμος εἴτε ζωὴ εἴτε θάνατος εἴτε ἐνεστῶτα εἴτε μέλλοντα, πάντα ⸀ὑμῶν,whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or the present or the future. All of them belong to you, 23en julle is Christus s’n, en Christus is God s’n.ὑμεῖς δὲ Χριστοῦ, Χριστὸς δὲ θεοῦ.and you belong to Christ, and Christ belongs to God.
