1Toe het die dogters van Selofhad, die seun van Hefer, die seun van Gilead, die seun van Makir, die seun van Manasse, uit die families van Manasse, die seun van Josef, nader gekom. Dit is die name van sy dogters: Mahla, Noa, Hogla, Milka en Tirsa.וַתִּקְרַ֜בְנָה בְּנ֣וֹת צְלָפְחָ֗ד בֶּן־חֵ֤פֶר בֶּן־גִּלְעָד֙ בֶּן־מָכִ֣יר בֶּן־מְנַשֶּׁ֔ה לְמִשְׁפְּחֹ֖ת מְנַשֶּׁ֣ה בֶן־יוֹסֵ֑ף וְאֵ֨לֶּה֙ שְׁמ֣וֹת בְּנֹתָ֔יו מַחְלָ֣ה נֹעָ֔ה וְחָגְלָ֥ה וּמִלְכָּ֖ה וְתִרְצָֽה׃Now the daughters of Zelophehad son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, belonged to the clans of Manasseh son of Joseph. These were the names of his daughters: Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah. They approached 2En hulle het voor Moses en voor Eleasar, die priester, en voor die leiers en die hele vergadering gaan staan, by die ingang van die tent van samekoms, en gesê:וַֽתַּעֲמֹ֜דְנָה לִפְנֵ֣י מֹשֶׁ֗ה וְלִפְנֵי֙ אֶלְעָזָ֣ר הַכֹּהֵ֔ן וְלִפְנֵ֥י הַנְּשִׂיאִ֖ם וְכָל־הָעֵדָ֑ה פֶּ֥תַח אֹֽהֶל־מוֹעֵ֖ד לֵאמֹֽר׃the entrance to the Tent of Meeting, stood before Moses, Eleazar the priest, the leaders, and the whole congregation, and said, 3“Ons vader het in die woestyn gesterf, maar hy was nie in die middel van die vergadering wat teen die HERE saamgekom het nie, in die vergadering van Korag nie; want hy het in sy eie sonde gesterf, en seuns het hy nie gehad nie.אָבִינוּ֮ מֵ֣ת בַּמִּדְבָּר֒ וְה֨וּא לֹא־הָיָ֜ה בְּת֣וֹךְ הָעֵדָ֗ה הַנּוֹעָדִ֛ים עַל־יְהוָ֖ה בַּעֲדַת־קֹ֑רַח כִּֽי־בְחֶטְא֣וֹ מֵ֔ת וּבָנִ֖ים לֹא־הָ֥יוּ לֽוֹ׃“Our father died in the wilderness, but he was not among the followers of Korah who gathered together against the LORD. Instead, he died because of his own sin, and he had no sons. 4Waarom moet die naam van ons vader uit die middel van sy familie weggeneem word omdat hy geen seun het nie? Gee aan ons grondbesit in die middel van die broers van ons vader.”לָ֣מָּה יִגָּרַ֤ע שֵׁם־אָבִ֨ינוּ֙ מִתּ֣וֹךְ מִשְׁפַּחְתּ֔וֹ כִּ֛י אֵ֥ין ל֖וֹ בֵּ֑ן תְּנָה־לָּ֣נוּ אֲחֻזָּ֔ה בְּת֖וֹךְ אֲחֵ֥י אָבִֽינוּ׃Why should the name of our father disappear from his clan because he had no sons? Give us property among our father’s brothers.” 5En Moses het hulle regsaak voor die aangesig van die HERE gebring.וַיַּקְרֵ֥ב מֹשֶׁ֛ה אֶת־מִשְׁפָּטָ֖<seg type="x-large">ן<seg> לִפְנֵ֥י יְהוָֽה׃ סSo Moses brought their case before the LORD,
6En die HERE het vir Moses gesê:וַיֹּ֥אמֶר יְהוָ֖ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֥ה לֵּאמֹֽר׃and the LORD answered him, 7“Die dogters van Selofhad praat reg. Jy moet vir hulle sekerlik 'n erfdeel as besitting gee in die middel van die broers van hulle vader, en jy moet die erfdeel van hulle vader na hulle laat oorgaan.כֵּ֗ן בְּנ֣וֹת צְלָפְחָד֮ דֹּבְרֹת֒ נָתֹ֨ן תִּתֵּ֤ן לָהֶם֙ אֲחֻזַּ֣ת נַחֲלָ֔ה בְּת֖וֹךְ אֲחֵ֣י אֲבִיהֶ֑ם וְהַֽעֲבַרְתָּ֛ אֶת־נַחֲלַ֥ת אֲבִיהֶ֖ן לָהֶֽן׃“The daughters of Zelophehad speak correctly. You certainly must give them property as an inheritance among their father’s brothers and transfer their father’s inheritance to them. 8En met die Israeliete moet jy praat en sê: ‘As 'n man sterf en hy het geen seun nie, dan moet julle sy erfdeel na sy dogter laat oorgaan.וְאֶל־בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל תְּדַבֵּ֣ר לֵאמֹ֑ר אִ֣ישׁ כִּֽי־יָמ֗וּת וּבֵן֙ אֵ֣ין ל֔וֹ וְהַֽעֲבַרְתֶּ֥ם אֶת־נַחֲלָת֖וֹ לְבִתּֽוֹ׃Furthermore, you shall say to the Israelites, ‘If a man dies and leaves no son, you are to transfer his inheritance to his daughter. 9En as hy geen dogter het nie, moet julle sy erfdeel aan sy broers gee.וְאִם־אֵ֥ין ל֖וֹ בַּ֑ת וּנְתַתֶּ֥ם אֶת־נַחֲלָת֖וֹ לְאֶחָיו׃If he has no daughter, give his inheritance to his brothers. 10En as hy geen broers het nie, moet julle sy erfdeel aan die broers van sy vader gee.וְאִם־אֵ֥ין ל֖וֹ אַחִ֑ים וּנְתַתֶּ֥ם אֶת־נַחֲלָת֖וֹ לַאֲחֵ֥י אָבִֽיו׃If he has no brothers, give his inheritance to his father’s brothers. 11En as sy vader geen broers het nie, moet julle sy erfdeel aan sy bloedverwant wat die naaste aan hom is uit sy geslag gee, en hy moet dit in besit neem.’ ” En dit moet vir die Israeliete 'n insetting van reg wees, soos die HERE Moses beveel het.וְאִם־אֵ֣ין אַחִים֮ לְאָבִיו֒ וּנְתַתֶּ֣ם אֶת־נַחֲלָת֗וֹ לִשְׁאֵר֞וֹ הַקָּרֹ֥ב אֵלָ֛יו מִמִּשְׁפַּחְתּ֖וֹ וְיָרַ֣שׁ אֹתָ֑הּ וְֽהָ֨יְתָ֜ה לִבְנֵ֤י יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ לְחֻקַּ֣ת מִשְׁפָּ֔ט כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר צִוָּ֥ה יְהוָ֖ה אֶת־מֹשֶֽׁה׃ סAnd if his father has no brothers, give his inheritance to the next of kin from his clan, that he may take possession of it. This is to be a statutory ordinance for the Israelites, as the LORD has commanded Moses.’”
12En die HERE het vir Moses gesê: “Klim op hierdie berg Abarim en sien die land wat Ek aan die Israeliete gegee het.וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יְהוָה֙ אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֔ה עֲלֵ֛ה אֶל־הַ֥ר הָעֲבָרִ֖ים הַזֶּ֑ה וּרְאֵה֙ אֶת־הָאָ֔רֶץ אֲשֶׁ֥ר נָתַ֖תִּי לִבְנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃Then the LORD said to Moses, “Go up this mountain of the Abarim range and see the land that I have given the Israelites. 13En as jy dit gesien het, sal jy ook by jou volksgenote versamel word, soos jou broer Aäron versamel is;וְרָאִ֣יתָה אֹתָ֔הּ וְנֶאֱסַפְתָּ֥ אֶל־עַמֶּ֖יךָ גַּם־אָ֑תָּה כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר נֶאֱסַ֖ף אַהֲרֹ֥ן אָחִֽיךָ׃After you have seen it, you too will be gathered to your people, as your brother Aaron was; 14omdat julle in die woestyn Sin, tydens die twis van die vergadering, teen My bevel in opstand gekom het om My by die water voor hulle oë heilig te maak. Dit is die water van die twis by Kades, in die woestyn Sin.”כַּאֲשֶׁר֩ מְרִיתֶ֨ם פִּ֜י בְּמִדְבַּר־צִ֗ן בִּמְרִיבַת֙ הָֽעֵדָ֔ה לְהַקְדִּישֵׁ֥נִי בַמַּ֖יִם לְעֵינֵיהֶ֑ם הֵ֛ם מֵֽי־מְרִיבַ֥ת קָדֵ֖שׁ מִדְבַּר־צִֽן׃ פfor when the congregation contended in the Wilderness of Zin, both of you rebelled against My command to show My holiness in their sight regarding the waters.” Those were the waters of Meribah in Kadesh, in the Wilderness of Zin.

Letterlik: My mond.15En Moses het met die HERE gepraat en gesê:וַיְדַבֵּ֣ר מֹשֶׁ֔ה אֶל־יְהוָ֖ה לֵאמֹֽר׃So Moses appealed to the LORD, 16“Laat die HERE, die God van die geeste van alle mense, 'n man oor die vergadering aanstel,יִפְקֹ֣ד יְהוָ֔ה אֱלֹהֵ֥י הָרוּחֹ֖ת לְכָל־בָּשָׂ֑ר אִ֖ישׁ עַל־הָעֵדָֽה׃“May the LORD, the God of the spirits of all flesh, appoint a man over the congregation 17wat voor hulle uitgaan en wat voor hulle ingaan, en wat hulle uitlei en wat hulle inbring, sodat die vergadering van die HERE nie soos skape is wat geen herder het nie.”אֲשֶׁר־יֵצֵ֣א לִפְנֵיהֶ֗ם וַאֲשֶׁ֤ר יָבֹא֙ לִפְנֵיהֶ֔ם וַאֲשֶׁ֥ר יוֹצִיאֵ֖ם וַאֲשֶׁ֣ר יְבִיאֵ֑ם וְלֹ֤א תִהְיֶה֙ עֲדַ֣ת יְהוָ֔ה כַּצֹּ֕אן אֲשֶׁ֥ר אֵין־לָהֶ֖ם רֹעֶֽה׃who will go out and come in before them, and who will lead them out and bring them in, so that the congregation of the LORD will not be like sheep without a shepherd.”

Letterlik: van alle vlees.18En die HERE het vir Moses gesê: “Neem vir jou Josua, die seun van Nun, 'n man in wie die Gees is, en lê jou hand op hom.וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהוָ֜ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֗ה קַח־לְךָ֙ אֶת־יְהוֹשֻׁ֣עַ בִּן־נ֔וּן אִ֖ישׁ אֲשֶׁר־ר֣וּחַ בּ֑וֹ וְסָמַכְתָּ֥ אֶת־יָדְךָ֖ עָלָֽיו׃And the LORD replied to Moses, “Take Joshua son of Nun, a man with the Spirit in him, and lay your hands on him. 19En jy moet hom voor Eleasar, die priester, en voor die hele vergadering laat staan, en jy moet hom voor hulle oë opdrag gee.וְהַֽעֲמַדְתָּ֣ אֹת֗וֹ לִפְנֵי֙ אֶלְעָזָ֣ר הַכֹּהֵ֔ן וְלִפְנֵ֖י כָּל־הָעֵדָ֑ה וְצִוִּיתָ֥ה אֹת֖וֹ לְעֵינֵיהֶֽם׃Have him stand before Eleazar the priest and the whole congregation, and commission him in their sight. 20En jy moet van jou prag op hom lê, sodat die hele vergadering van die Israeliete sal luister.וְנָתַתָּ֥ה מֵהֽוֹדְךָ֖ עָלָ֑יו לְמַ֣עַן יִשְׁמְע֔וּ כָּל־עֲדַ֖ת בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃Confer on him some of your authority, so that the whole congregation of Israel will obey him. 21En voor Eleasar, die priester, moet hy staan, en dié moet vir hom die oordeel van die Urim voor die aangesig van die HERE vra. Op sy bevel moet hulle uitgaan en op sy bevel moet hulle ingaan, hy en al die Israeliete saam met hom, die hele vergadering.”וְלִפְנֵ֨י אֶלְעָזָ֤ר הַכֹּהֵן֙ יַעֲמֹ֔ד וְשָׁ֥אַל ל֛וֹ בְּמִשְׁפַּ֥ט הָאוּרִ֖ים לִפְנֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה עַל־פִּ֨יו יֵצְא֜וּ וְעַל־פִּ֣יו יָבֹ֗אוּ ה֛וּא וְכָל־בְּנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֥ל אִתּ֖וֹ וְכָל־הָעֵדָֽה׃He shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who will seek counsel for him before the LORD by the judgment of the Urim. At his command, he and all the Israelites with him—the entire congregation—will go out and come in.”

He took Joshua, had him stand before Eleazar the priest and the whole congregation, 23en hy het sy hande op hom gelê en hom opdrag gegee, soos die HERE deur Moses gespreek het.וַיִּסְמֹ֧ךְ אֶת־יָדָ֛יו עָלָ֖יו וַיְצַוֵּ֑הוּ כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר דִּבֶּ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה בְּיַד־מֹשֶֽׁה׃ פand laid his hands on him and commissioned him, as the LORD had instructed through Moses.
