1Toe sê die HERE vir Moses: “Nou sal jy sien wat Ek aan Farao gaan doen, want deur 'n sterk hand sal hy hulle laat gaan, en deur 'n sterk hand sal hy hulle uit sy land verdryf.”וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יְהוָה֙ אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֔ה עַתָּ֣ה תִרְאֶ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר אֶֽעֱשֶׂ֖ה לְפַרְעֹ֑ה כִּ֣י בְיָ֤ד חֲזָקָה֙ יְשַׁלְּחֵ֔ם וּבְיָ֣ד חֲזָקָ֔ה יְגָרְשֵׁ֖ם מֵאַרְצֽוֹ׃ סBut the LORD said to Moses, “Now you will see what I will do to Pharaoh, for because of My mighty hand he will let the people go; because of My strong hand he will drive them out of his land.”

2En God het met Moses gepraat en vir hom gesê: “Ek is die HERE.וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר אֱלֹהִ֖ים אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֑ה וַיֹּ֥אמֶר אֵלָ֖יו אֲנִ֥י יְהוָֽה׃God also told Moses, “I am the LORD. 3Aan Abraham, aan Isak en aan Jakob het Ek verskyn as God, die Almagtige, maar deur My naam, HERE, was Ek nie aan hulle bekend nie.

Die naam beteken Die Hebreeuse naam is JHWH, gewoonlik as Jahwe uitgespreek. Dit word in hierdie vertaling as HERE weergegee.

וָאֵרָ֗א אֶל־אַבְרָהָ֛ם אֶל־יִצְחָ֥ק וְאֶֽל־יַעֲקֹ֖ב בְּאֵ֣ל שַׁדָּ֑י וּשְׁמִ֣י יְהוָ֔ה לֹ֥א נוֹדַ֖עְתִּי לָהֶֽם׃I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob as God Almighty, but by My name the LORD I did not make Myself known to them. 4Ek het ook My verbond met hulle opgerig om aan hulle die land Kanaän te gee, die land van hulle vreemdelingskap, waarin hulle as vreemdelinge gewoon het.וְגַ֨ם הֲקִמֹ֤תִי אֶת־בְּרִיתִי֙ אִתָּ֔ם לָתֵ֥ת לָהֶ֖ם אֶת־אֶ֣רֶץ כְּנָ֑עַן אֵ֛ת אֶ֥רֶץ מְגֻרֵיהֶ֖ם אֲשֶׁר־גָּ֥רוּ בָֽהּ׃I also established My covenant with them to give them the land of Canaan, the land where they lived as foreigners. 5En ook Ek het die gekreun van die Israeliete gehoor, wat Egipte hulle laat dien, en Ek het aan My verbond gedink.וְגַ֣ם׀ אֲנִ֣י שָׁמַ֗עְתִּי אֶֽת־נַאֲקַת֙ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אֲשֶׁ֥ר מִצְרַ֖יִם מַעֲבִדִ֣ים אֹתָ֑ם וָאֶזְכֹּ֖ר אֶת־בְּרִיתִֽי׃Furthermore, I have heard the groaning of the Israelites, whom the Egyptians are enslaving, and I have remembered My covenant. 6Sê daarom vir die Israeliete: ‘Ek is die HERE, en Ek sal julle uit onder die lasse van Egipte uitbring, en Ek sal julle red van hulle slawerny, en Ek sal julle los met ’n uitgestrekte arm en met groot oordele.לָכֵ֞ן אֱמֹ֥ר לִבְנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֘ל אֲנִ֣י יְהוָה֒ וְהוֹצֵאתִ֣י אֶתְכֶ֗ם מִתַּ֨חַת֙ סִבְלֹ֣ת מִצְרַ֔יִם וְהִצַּלְתִּ֥י אֶתְכֶ֖ם מֵעֲבֹדָתָ֑ם וְגָאַלְתִּ֤י אֶתְכֶם֙ בִּזְר֣וֹעַ נְטוּיָ֔ה וּבִשְׁפָטִ֖ים גְּדֹלִֽים׃Therefore tell the Israelites: ‘I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians and deliver you from their bondage. I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with mighty acts of judgment. 7En Ek sal julle vir My as volk neem, en Ek sal vir julle God wees, en julle sal weet dat Ek die HERE julle God is, wat julle uit onder die lasse van Egipte uitbring.וְלָקַחְתִּ֨י אֶתְכֶ֥ם לִי֙ לְעָ֔ם וְהָיִ֥יתִי לָכֶ֖ם לֵֽאלֹהִ֑ים וִֽידַעְתֶּ֗ם כִּ֣י אֲנִ֤י יְהוָה֙ אֱלֹ֣הֵיכֶ֔ם הַמּוֹצִ֣יא אֶתְכֶ֔ם מִתַּ֖חַת סִבְל֥וֹת מִצְרָֽיִם׃I will take you as My own people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the LORD your God, who brought you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians. 8En Ek sal julle bring na die land waaroor Ek My hand opgehef het om dit aan Abraham, aan Isak en aan Jakob te gee, en Ek sal dit aan julle gee as ’n erfdeel. Ek is die HERE.’”וְהֵבֵאתִ֤י אֶתְכֶם֙ אֶל־הָאָ֔רֶץ אֲשֶׁ֤ר נָשָׂ֨אתִי֙ אֶת־יָדִ֔י לָתֵ֣ת אֹתָ֔הּ לְאַבְרָהָ֥ם לְיִצְחָ֖ק וּֽלְיַעֲקֹ֑ב וְנָתַתִּ֨י אֹתָ֥הּ לָכֶ֛ם מוֹרָשָׁ֖ה אֲנִ֥י יְהוָֽה׃And I will bring you into the land that I swore to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. I will give it to you as a possession. I am the LORD!’” 9En Moses het so met die Israeliete gepraat, maar hulle het nie na Moses geluister nie weens kortheid van gees en weens harde slawerny.

וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר מֹשֶׁ֛ה כֵּ֖ן אֶל־בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וְלֹ֤א שָֽׁמְעוּ֙ אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֔ה מִקֹּ֣צֶר ר֔וּחַ וּמֵעֲבֹדָ֖ה קָשָֽׁה׃ פMoses relayed this message to the Israelites, but on account of their broken spirit and cruel bondage, they did not listen to him.

10Toe het die HERE met Moses gepraat en gesê:וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֥ה לֵּאמֹֽר׃So the LORD said to Moses, 11“Gaan in, praat met Farao, die koning van Egipte, sodat hy die Israeliete uit sy land laat gaan.”בֹּ֣א דַבֵּ֔ר אֶל־פַּרְעֹ֖ה מֶ֣לֶךְ מִצְרָ֑יִם וִֽישַׁלַּ֥ח אֶת־בְּנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל מֵאַרְצֽוֹ׃“Go and tell Pharaoh king of Egypt to let the Israelites go out of his land.” 12Toe het Moses voor die aangesig van die HERE gepraat en gesê: “Kyk, die Israeliete het nie na my geluister nie, en hoe sal farao na my luister, terwyl ek onbesnede van lippe is?”וַיְדַבֵּ֣ר מֹשֶׁ֔ה לִפְנֵ֥י יְהוָ֖ה לֵאמֹ֑ר הֵ֤ן בְּנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ לֹֽא־שָׁמְע֣וּ אֵלַ֔י וְאֵיךְ֙ יִשְׁמָעֵ֣נִי פַרְעֹ֔ה וַאֲנִ֖י עֲרַ֥ל שְׂפָתָֽיִם׃ פBut in the LORD’s presence Moses replied, “If the Israelites will not listen to me, then why would Pharaoh listen to me, since I am unskilled in speech? ”

13En die HERE het met Moses en met Aäron gepraat en hulle beveel aangaande die Israeliete en aangaande farao, die koning van Egipte, om die Israeliete uit die land Egipte uit te bring.וַיְדַבֵּ֣ר יְהוָה֮ אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֣ה וְאֶֽל־אַהֲרֹן֒ וַיְצַוֵּם֙ אֶל־בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וְאֶל־פַּרְעֹ֖ה מֶ֣לֶךְ מִצְרָ֑יִם לְהוֹצִ֥יא אֶת־בְּנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל מֵאֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם׃ סThen the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron and gave them a charge concerning both the Israelites and Pharaoh king of Egypt, to bring the Israelites out of the land of Egypt.

14Dit is die hoofde van hulle vaderhuise: Die seuns van Ruben, die eersgeborene van Israel: Hanok en Pallu, Hesron en Karmi. Dit is die geslagte van Ruben.אֵ֖לֶּה רָאשֵׁ֣י בֵית־אֲבֹתָ֑ם בְּנֵ֨י רְאוּבֵ֜ן בְּכֹ֣ר יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל חֲנ֤וֹךְ וּפַלּוּא֙ חֶצְר֣וֹן וְכַרְמִ֔י אֵ֖לֶּה מִשְׁפְּחֹ֥ת רְאוּבֵֽן׃These were the heads of their fathers’ houses: The sons of Reuben, the firstborn of Israel, were Hanoch and Pallu, Hezron and Carmi. These were the clans of Reuben. 15En die seuns van Simeon: Jemuel en Jamin en Ohad en Jakin en Sohar, en Saul, die seun van die Kanaänitiese vrou. Dit is die geslagte van Simeon.וּבְנֵ֣י שִׁמְע֗וֹן יְמוּאֵ֨ל וְיָמִ֤ין וְאֹ֨הַד֙ וְיָכִ֣ין וְצֹ֔חַר וְשָׁא֖וּל בֶּן־הַֽכְּנַעֲנִ֑ית אֵ֖לֶּה מִשְׁפְּחֹ֥ת שִׁמְעֽוֹן׃The sons of Simeon were Jemuel, Jamin, Ohad, Jachin, Zohar, and Shaul, the son of a Canaanite woman. These were the clans of Simeon. 16En dit is die name van die seuns van Levi volgens hulle geslagte: Gerson en Kehat en Merari. Die lewensjare van Levi was 137 jaar.וְאֵ֨לֶּה שְׁמ֤וֹת בְּנֵֽי־לֵוִי֙ לְתֹ֣לְדֹתָ֔ם גֵּרְשׁ֕וֹן וּקְהָ֖ת וּמְרָרִ֑י וּשְׁנֵי֙ חַיֵּ֣י לֵוִ֔י שֶׁ֧בַע וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֛ים וּמְאַ֖ת שָׁנָֽה׃These were the names of the sons of Levi according to their records: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari. Levi lived 137 years. 17Die seuns van Gerson: Libni en Simi, volgens hulle geslagte.בְּנֵ֥י גֵרְשׁ֛וֹן לִבְנִ֥י וְשִׁמְעִ֖י לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָֽם׃The sons of Gershon were Libni and Shimei, by their clans. 18En die seuns van Kehat: Amram en Jishar en Hebron en Ussiël. Die lewensjare van Kehat was 133 jaar.וּבְנֵ֣י קְהָ֔ת עַמְרָ֣ם וְיִצְהָ֔ר וְחֶבְר֖וֹן וְעֻזִּיאֵ֑ל וּשְׁנֵי֙ חַיֵּ֣י קְהָ֔ת שָׁלֹ֧שׁ וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֛ים וּמְאַ֖ת שָׁנָֽה׃The sons of Kohath were Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel. Kohath lived 133 years. 19En die seuns van Merari: Magli en Musi. Dit is die families van die Leviete volgens hulle geslagte.וּבְנֵ֥י מְרָרִ֖י מַחְלִ֣י וּמוּשִׁ֑י אֵ֛לֶּה מִשְׁפְּחֹ֥ת הַלֵּוִ֖י לְתֹלְדֹתָֽם׃The sons of Merari were Mahli and Mushi. These were the clans of the Levites according to their records. 20Amram het Jogebed, sy tante, vir hom as vrou geneem, en sy het vir hom Aäron en Moses gebaar. Die lewensjare van Amram was 137 jaar.

וַיִּקַּ֨ח עַמְרָ֜ם אֶת־יוֹכֶ֤בֶד דֹּֽדָתוֹ֙ ל֣וֹ לְאִשָּׁ֔ה וַתֵּ֣לֶד ל֔וֹ אֶֽת־אַהֲרֹ֖ן וְאֶת־מֹשֶׁ֑ה וּשְׁנֵי֙ חַיֵּ֣י עַמְרָ֔ם שֶׁ֧בַע וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֛ים וּמְאַ֖ת שָׁנָֽה׃And Amram married his father’s sister Jochebed, and she bore him Aaron and Moses. Amram lived 137 years. 21En die seuns van Jishar: Korag en Nefeg en Sigri.וּבְנֵ֖י יִצְהָ֑ר קֹ֥רַח וָנֶ֖פֶג וְזִכְרִֽי׃The sons of Izhar were Korah, Nepheg, and Zichri. 22En die seuns van Ussiël: Misael en Elsafan en Sitri.וּבְנֵ֖י עֻזִּיאֵ֑ל מִֽישָׁאֵ֥ל וְאֶלְצָפָ֖ן וְסִתְרִֽי׃The sons of Uzziel were Mishael, Elzaphan, and Sithri. 23Aäron het Eliseba, die dogter van Amminadab, die suster van Nagson, vir hom as vrou geneem, en sy het vir hom Nadab en Abihu, Eleasar en Itamar gebaar.וַיִּקַּ֨ח אַהֲרֹ֜ן אֶת־אֱלִישֶׁ֧בַע בַּת־עַמִּינָדָ֛ב אֲח֥וֹת נַחְשׁ֖וֹן ל֣וֹ לְאִשָּׁ֑ה וַתֵּ֣לֶד ל֗וֹ אֶת־נָדָב֙ וְאֶת־אֲבִיה֔וּא אֶת־אֶלְעָזָ֖ר וְאֶת־אִֽיתָמָֽר׃And Aaron married Elisheba, the daughter of Amminadab and sister of Nahshon, and she bore him Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar. 24En die seuns van Korag: Assir en Elkana en Abiasaf. Dit is die families van die Koragiete.וּבְנֵ֣י קֹ֔רַח אַסִּ֥יר וְאֶלְקָנָ֖ה וַאֲבִיאָסָ֑ף אֵ֖לֶּה מִשְׁפְּחֹ֥ת הַקָּרְחִֽי׃The sons of Korah were Assir, Elkanah, and Abiasaph. These were the clans of the Korahites. 25En Eleasar, die seun van Aäron, het vir hom een van die dogters van Putiël as vrou geneem, en sy het vir hom Pinehas gebaar. Dit is die hoofde van die vaders van die Leviete volgens hulle families.וְאֶלְעָזָ֨ר בֶּֽן־אַהֲרֹ֜ן לָקַֽח־ל֨וֹ מִבְּנ֤וֹת פּֽוּטִיאֵל֙ ל֣וֹ לְאִשָּׁ֔ה וַתֵּ֥לֶד ל֖וֹ אֶת־פִּֽינְחָ֑ס אֵ֗לֶּה רָאשֵׁ֛י אֲב֥וֹת הַלְוִיִּ֖ם לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָֽם׃Aaron’s son Eleazar married one of the daughters of Putiel, and she bore him Phinehas. These were the heads of the Levite families by their clans. 26Dit is dieselfde Aäron en Moses vir wie die HERE gesê het: “Bring die Israeliete uit die land Egipte uit volgens hulle leërskare.”ה֥וּא אַהֲרֹ֖ן וּמֹשֶׁ֑ה אֲשֶׁ֨ר אָמַ֤ר יְהוָה֙ לָהֶ֔ם הוֹצִ֜יאוּ אֶת־בְּנֵ֧י יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל מֵאֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרַ֖יִם עַל־צִבְאֹתָֽם׃It was this Aaron and Moses to whom the LORD said, “Bring the Israelites out of the land of Egypt by their divisions.” 27Hulle is dit wat met farao, die koning van Egipte, gepraat het om die Israeliete uit Egipte uit te bring; dit is Moses en Aäron.הֵ֗ם הַֽמְדַבְּרִים֙ אֶל־פַּרְעֹ֣ה מֶֽלֶךְ־מִצְרַ֔יִם לְהוֹצִ֥יא אֶת־בְּנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל מִמִּצְרָ֑יִם ה֥וּא מֹשֶׁ֖ה וְאַהֲרֹֽן׃Moses and Aaron were the ones who spoke to Pharaoh king of Egypt in order to bring the Israelites out of Egypt.

28En dit het gebeur op die dag toe die HERE in die land Egipte met Moses gepraat het.וַיְהִ֗י בְּי֨וֹם דִּבֶּ֧ר יְהוָ֛ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֖ה בְּאֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם׃ פNow on the day that the LORD spoke to Moses in Egypt,

29Toe het die HERE met Moses gepraat en gesê: “Ek is die HERE. Praat met farao, die koning van Egipte, alles wat Ek met jou praat.”וַיְדַבֵּ֧ר יְהוָ֛ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֥ה לֵּאמֹ֖ר אֲנִ֣י יְהוָ֑ה דַּבֵּ֗ר אֶל־פַּרְעֹה֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ מִצְרַ֔יִם אֵ֛ת כָּל־אֲשֶׁ֥ר אֲנִ֖י דֹּבֵ֥ר אֵלֶֽיךָ׃He said to him, “I am the LORD; tell Pharaoh king of Egypt everything I say to you.” 30Maar Moses het voor die aangesig van die HERE gesê: “Kyk, ek is onbesnede van lippe, en hoe sal farao na my luister?”וַיֹּ֥אמֶר מֹשֶׁ֖ה לִפְנֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה הֵ֤ן אֲנִי֙ עֲרַ֣ל שְׂפָתַ֔יִם וְאֵ֕יךְ יִשְׁמַ֥ע אֵלַ֖י פַּרְעֹֽה׃ פBut in the LORD’s presence Moses replied, “Since I am unskilled in speech, why would Pharaoh listen to me?”
