1Daar was iemand siek, Lasarus van Betanië, uit die dorp van Maria en van Marta, haar suster.Ἦν δέ τις ἀσθενῶν, Λάζαρος ἀπὸ Βηθανίας ἐκ τῆς κώμης Μαρίας καὶ Μάρθας τῆς ἀδελφῆς αὐτῆς.At this time a man named Lazarus was sick. He lived in Bethany, the village of Mary and her sister Martha.2En dit was die Maria wat die Here met salf gesalf en Sy voete met haar hare afgedroog het, wie se broer Lasarus siek was.ἦν δὲ ⸀Μαριὰμ ἡ ἀλείψασα τὸν κύριον μύρῳ καὶ ἐκμάξασα τοὺς πόδας αὐτοῦ ταῖς θριξὶν αὐτῆς, ἧς ὁ ἀδελφὸς Λάζαρος ἠσθένει.(Mary, whose brother Lazarus was sick, was to anoint the Lord with perfume and wipe His feet with her hair.)3Die susters het toe na Hom gestuur en gesê: “Here, kyk, hy vir wie U lief is, is siek.”ἀπέστειλαν οὖν αἱ ἀδελφαὶ πρὸς αὐτὸν λέγουσαι· Κύριε, ἴδε ὃν φιλεῖς ἀσθενεῖ.So the sisters sent word to Jesus, “Lord, the one You love is sick.”4Toe Jesus dit hoor, het Hy gesê: “Hierdie siekte is nie tot die dood nie, maar ter wille van die heerlikheid van God, sodat die Seun van God daardeur verheerlik word.”ἀκούσας δὲ ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν· Αὕτη ἡ ἀσθένεια οὐκ ἔστιν πρὸς θάνατον ἀλλʼ ὑπὲρ τῆς δόξης τοῦ θεοῦ ἵνα δοξασθῇ ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ θεοῦ διʼ αὐτῆς.When Jesus heard this, He said, “This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified through it.”5Jesus het Marta en haar suster en Lasarus liefgehad.ἠγάπα δὲ ὁ Ἰησοῦς τὴν Μάρθαν καὶ τὴν ἀδελφὴν αὐτῆς καὶ τὸν Λάζαρον.Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus.6Toe Hy dus hoor dat hy siek is, het Hy toe wel nog twee dae gebly op die plek waar Hy was.ὡς οὖν ἤκουσεν ὅτι ἀσθενεῖ, τότε μὲν ἔμεινεν ἐν ᾧ ἦν τόπῳ δύο ἡμέρας·So on hearing that Lazarus was sick, He stayed where He was for two days,
7Daarna, ná dit, sê Hy vir die dissipels: “Laat ons weer na Judea gaan.”ἔπειτα μετὰ τοῦτο λέγει τοῖς μαθηταῖς· Ἄγωμεν εἰς τὴν Ἰουδαίαν πάλιν.and then He said to the disciples, “Let us go back to Judea.”8Die dissipels sê vir Hom: “Rabbi, die Jode het nou gesoek om U te stenig, en U gaan weer soontoe?”λέγουσιν αὐτῷ οἱ μαθηταί· Ῥαββί, νῦν ἐζήτουν σε λιθάσαι οἱ Ἰουδαῖοι, καὶ πάλιν ὑπάγεις ἐκεῖ;“Rabbi,” they replied, “the Jews just tried to stone You, and You are going back there?”9Jesus het geantwoord: “Is daar nie twaalf ure in die dag nie? As iemand in die dag loop, struikel hy nie, omdat hy die lig van hierdie wêreld sien.aOngeveer die tyd van sonsopkoms tot sonsondergang.ἀπεκρίθη Ἰησοῦς· Οὐχὶ δώδεκα ⸂ὧραί εἰσιν⸃ τῆς ἡμέρας; ἐάν τις περιπατῇ ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ, οὐ προσκόπτει, ὅτι τὸ φῶς τοῦ κόσμου τούτου βλέπει·Jesus answered, “Are there not twelve hours of daylight? If anyone walks in the daytime, he will not stumble, because he sees by the light of this world.10maar as iemand in die nag loop, struikel hy, omdat die lig nie in hom is nie.”ἐὰν δέ τις περιπατῇ ἐν τῇ νυκτί, προσκόπτει, ὅτι τὸ φῶς οὐκ ἔστιν ἐν αὐτῷ.But if anyone walks at night, he will stumble, because he has no light.”11Dit het Hy gesê, en daarna sê Hy vir hulle: “Lasarus, ons vriend, het aan die slaap geraak, maar Ek gaan om hom wakker te maak.”ταῦτα εἶπεν, καὶ μετὰ τοῦτο λέγει αὐτοῖς· Λάζαρος ὁ φίλος ἡμῶν κεκοίμηται, ἀλλὰ πορεύομαι ἵνα ἐξυπνίσω αὐτόν.After He had said this, He told them, “Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep, but I am going there to wake him up.”12Die dissipels het dus vir Hom gesê: “Here, as hy aan die slaap geraak het, sal hy genees.”aLetterlik: sal hy gered word.εἶπαν οὖν οἱ μαθηταὶ ⸀αὐτῷ· Κύριε, εἰ κεκοίμηται σωθήσεται.His disciples replied, “Lord, if he is sleeping, he will get better.”13Maar Jesus het van sy dood gepraat; hulle het egter gedink dat Hy van die rus van die slaap praat.εἰρήκει δὲ ὁ Ἰησοῦς περὶ τοῦ θανάτου αὐτοῦ. ἐκεῖνοι δὲ ἔδοξαν ὅτι περὶ τῆς κοιμήσεως τοῦ ὕπνου λέγει.They thought that Jesus was talking about actual sleep, but He was speaking about the death of Lazarus.14Toe het Jesus dan openlik vir hulle gesê: “Lasarus het gesterf,τότε οὖν εἶπεν αὐτοῖς ὁ Ἰησοῦς παρρησίᾳ· Λάζαρος ἀπέθανεν,So Jesus told them plainly, “Lazarus is dead,15en Ek is bly om julle ontwil, sodat julle kan glo, dat Ek nie daar was nie; maar laat ons na hom toe gaan.”καὶ χαίρω διʼ ὑμᾶς, ἵνα πιστεύσητε, ὅτι οὐκ ἤμην ἐκεῖ· ἀλλὰ ἄγωμεν πρὸς αὐτόν.and for your sake I am glad I was not there, so that you may believe. But let us go to him.”16Tomas, wat Didimus genoem word, sê toe vir sy mededissipels: “Laat ons ook gaan, om saam met Hom te sterf.”aDie naam beteken Tweeling.εἶπεν οὖν Θωμᾶς ὁ λεγόμενος Δίδυμος τοῖς συμμαθηταῖς· Ἄγωμεν καὶ ἡμεῖς ἵνα ἀποθάνωμεν μετʼ αὐτοῦ.Then Thomas called Didymus said to his fellow disciples, “Let us also go, so that we may die with Him.”
17Toe Jesus dan aankom, het Hy gevind dat hy al vier dae in die graf was.Ἐλθὼν οὖν ὁ Ἰησοῦς εὗρεν αὐτὸν τέσσαρας ⸂ἤδη ἡμέρας⸃ ἔχοντα ἐν τῷ μνημείῳ.When Jesus arrived, He found that Lazarus had already spent four days in the tomb.18Betanië was naby Jerusalem, omtrent vyftien stadiums daarvandaan.aOngeveer 2,8 kilometer.ἦν δὲ ⸀ἡ Βηθανία ἐγγὺς τῶν Ἱεροσολύμων ὡς ἀπὸ σταδίων δεκαπέντε.Now Bethany was near Jerusalem, a little less than two miles away,19Baie van die Jode het na Marta en Maria gekom om hulle oor hul broer te troos.⸂πολλοὶ δὲ⸃ ἐκ τῶν Ἰουδαίων ἐληλύθεισαν πρὸς ⸀τὴν Μάρθαν καὶ ⸀Μαριὰμ ἵνα παραμυθήσωνται αὐτὰς περὶ τοῦ ⸀ἀδελφοῦ.and many of the Jews had come to Martha and Mary to console them in the loss of their brother.20Toe Marta dan hoor dat Jesus kom, het sy Hom tegemoetgegaan; maar Maria het in die huis bly sit.ἡ οὖν Μάρθα ὡς ἤκουσεν ὅτι Ἰησοῦς ἔρχεται ὑπήντησεν αὐτῷ· ⸀Μαρία δὲ ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ ἐκαθέζετο.So when Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went out to meet Him, but Mary stayed at home.21Marta het toe vir Jesus gesê: “Here, as U hier was, sou my broer nie gesterf het nie.εἶπεν οὖν ⸀ἡ Μάρθα πρὸς ⸀τὸν Ἰησοῦν· Κύριε, εἰ ἦς ὧδε ⸂οὐκ ἂν ἀπέθανεν ὁ ἀδελφός μου⸃·Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died.22En nou weet ek dat alles wat U van God vra, God aan U sal gee.”⸀καὶ νῦν οἶδα ὅτι ὅσα ἂν αἰτήσῃ τὸν θεὸν δώσει σοι ὁ θεός.But even now I know that God will give You whatever You ask of Him.”23Jesus sê vir haar: “Jou broer sal opstaan.”λέγει αὐτῇ ὁ Ἰησοῦς· Ἀναστήσεται ὁ ἀδελφός σου.“Your brother will rise again,” Jesus told her.24Marta sê vir Hom: “Ek weet dat hy sal opstaan in die opstanding op die laaste dag.”λέγει αὐτῷ ⸀ἡ Μάρθα· Οἶδα ὅτι ἀναστήσεται ἐν τῇ ἀναστάσει ἐν τῇ ἐσχάτῃ ἡμέρᾳ.Martha replied, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.”25Jesus het vir haar gesê: “Ek is die opstanding en die lewe; wie in My glo, sal lewe, al sou hy sterf,εἶπεν αὐτῇ ὁ Ἰησοῦς· Ἐγώ εἰμι ἡ ἀνάστασις καὶ ἡ ζωή· ὁ πιστεύων εἰς ἐμὲ κἂν ἀποθάνῃ ζήσεται,Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in Me will live, even though he dies.26en elkeen wat lewe en in My glo, sal tot in ewigheid nie sterf nie. Glo jy dit?”καὶ πᾶς ὁ ζῶν καὶ πιστεύων εἰς ἐμὲ οὐ μὴ ἀποθάνῃ εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα· πιστεύεις τοῦτο;And everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?”27Sy sê vir Hom: “Ja, Here; ek glo dat U die Christus is, die Seun van God, Hy wat in die wêreld kom.”λέγει αὐτῷ· Ναί, κύριε· ἐγὼ πεπίστευκα ὅτι σὺ εἶ ὁ χριστὸς ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ θεοῦ ὁ εἰς τὸν κόσμον ἐρχόμενος.“Yes, Lord,” she answered, “I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God, who was to come into the world.”
28En toe sy dit gesê het, het sy weggegaan en haar suster Maria in die geheim geroep en gesê: “Die Meester is hier en roep jou.”Καὶ ⸀τοῦτο εἰποῦσα ἀπῆλθεν καὶ ἐφώνησεν ⸀Μαριὰμ τὴν ἀδελφὴν αὐτῆς λάθρᾳ εἰποῦσα· Ὁ διδάσκαλος πάρεστιν καὶ φωνεῖ σε.After Martha had said this, she went back and called her sister Mary aside to tell her, “The Teacher is here and is asking for you.”29Toe sy dit hoor, het sy gou opgestaan en na Hom toe gegaan.ἐκείνη ⸀δὲ ὡς ἤκουσεν ⸀ἠγέρθη ταχὺ καὶ ⸀ἤρχετο πρὸς αὐτόν·And when Mary heard this, she got up quickly and went to Him.30Jesus het nog nie in die dorp gekom nie, maar was nog op die plek waar Marta Hom tegemoetgegaan het.οὔπω δὲ ἐληλύθει ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἰς τὴν κώμην, ἀλλʼ ἦν ⸀ἔτι ἐν τῷ τόπῳ ὅπου ὑπήντησεν αὐτῷ ἡ Μάρθα.Now Jesus had not yet entered the village, but was still at the place where Martha had met Him.31Toe die Jode wat saam met haar in die huis was en haar getroos het, sien dat Maria gou opgestaan en uitgegaan het, het hulle haar gevolg, omdat hulle gemeen het dat sy na die graf gaan om daar te huil.οἱ οὖν Ἰουδαῖοι οἱ ὄντες μετʼ αὐτῆς ἐν τῇ οἰκίᾳ καὶ παραμυθούμενοι αὐτήν, ἰδόντες τὴν ⸀Μαριὰμ ὅτι ταχέως ἀνέστη καὶ ἐξῆλθεν, ἠκολούθησαν αὐτῇ ⸀δόξαντες ὅτι ὑπάγει εἰς τὸ μνημεῖον ἵνα κλαύσῃ ἐκεῖ.When the Jews who were in the house consoling Mary saw how quickly she got up and went out, they followed her, supposing she was going to the tomb to mourn there.32Toe Maria dan kom waar Jesus was en Hom sien, het sy voor Sy voete neergeval en vir Hom gesê: “Here, as U hier was, sou my broer nie gesterf het nie.”ἡ οὖν ⸀Μαριὰμ ὡς ἦλθεν ὅπου ⸀ἦν Ἰησοῦς ἰδοῦσα αὐτὸν ἔπεσεν αὐτοῦ ⸀πρὸς τοὺς πόδας, λέγουσα αὐτῷ· Κύριε, εἰ ἦς ὧδε οὐκ ἄν ⸂μου ἀπέθανεν⸃ ὁ ἀδελφός.When Mary came to Jesus and saw Him, she fell at His feet and said, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died.”33Toe Jesus dus sien hoe sy huil en hoe die Jode wat saam met haar gekom het, ook huil, het Hy in Sy gees diep gekreun en Homself ontstel.aOf: het Hy in Sy gees verontwaardig geword.Ἰησοῦς οὖν ὡς εἶδεν αὐτὴν κλαίουσαν καὶ τοὺς συνελθόντας αὐτῇ Ἰουδαίους κλαίοντας ἐνεβριμήσατο τῷ πνεύματι καὶ ἐτάραξεν ἑαυτόν,When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come with her also weeping, He was deeply moved in spirit and troubled.34en Hy het gesê: “Waar het julle hom neergelê?” Hulle sê vir Hom: “Here, kom en kyk.”καὶ εἶπεν· Ποῦ τεθείκατε αὐτόν; λέγουσιν αὐτῷ· Κύριε, ἔρχου καὶ ἴδε.“Where have you put him?” He asked. “Come and see, Lord,” they answered.35Jesus het geween.ἐδάκρυσεν ὁ Ἰησοῦς.Jesus wept.36Die Jode het dus gesê: “Kyk hoe lief Hy hom gehad het!”ἔλεγον οὖν οἱ Ἰουδαῖοι· Ἴδε πῶς ἐφίλει αὐτόν.Then the Jews said, “See how He loved him!”37Maar sommige van hulle het gesê: “Kon hierdie een wat die oë van die blinde oopgemaak het, nie ook maak dat hierdie man nie sterf nie?”τινὲς δὲ ἐξ αὐτῶν εἶπαν· Οὐκ ἐδύνατο οὗτος ὁ ἀνοίξας τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς τοῦ τυφλοῦ ποιῆσαι ἵνα καὶ οὗτος μὴ ἀποθάνῃ;But some of them asked, “Could not this man who opened the eyes of the blind also have kept Lazarus from dying?”
38Jesus, weer diep bewoë in Homself, kom toe by die graf. Jesus, once again deeply moved, came to the tomb. It was a cave with a stone laid across the entrance.39Jesus sê: “Neem die klip weg.” Marta, die suster van die oorledene, sê vir Hom: “Here, hy ruik al, want dit is al die vierde dag.”λέγει ὁ Ἰησοῦς· Ἄρατε τὸν λίθον. λέγει αὐτῷ ἡ ἀδελφὴ τοῦ ⸀τετελευτηκότος Μάρθα· Κύριε, ἤδη ὄζει, τεταρταῖος γάρ ἐστιν.“Take away the stone,” Jesus said. “Lord, by now he stinks,” said Martha, the sister of the dead man. “It has already been four days.”40Jesus sê vir haar: “Het Ek nie vir jou gesê dat as jy glo, jy die heerlikheid van God sal sien nie?”λέγει αὐτῇ ὁ Ἰησοῦς· Οὐκ εἶπόν σοι ὅτι ἐὰν πιστεύσῃς ⸀ὄψῃ τὴν δόξαν τοῦ θεοῦ;Jesus replied, “Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?”41Hulle het toe die klip weggeneem. ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς ἦρεν τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς ἄνω καὶ εἶπεν· Πάτερ, εὐχαριστῶ σοι ὅτι ἤκουσάς μου,So they took away the stone. Then Jesus lifted His eyes upward and said, “Father, I thank You that You have heard Me.42Ek het geweet dat U My altyd hoor, maar ter wille van die skare wat rondom staan, het Ek dit gesê, sodat hulle kan glo dat U My gestuur het.”ἐγὼ δὲ ᾔδειν ὅτι πάντοτέ μου ἀκούεις· ἀλλὰ διὰ τὸν ὄχλον τὸν περιεστῶτα εἶπον, ἵνα πιστεύσωσιν ὅτι σύ με ἀπέστειλας.I knew that You always hear Me, but I say this for the benefit of the people standing here, so they may believe that You sent Me.”43En nadat Hy dit gesê het, het Hy met 'n groot stem geroep: “Lasarus, kom hierheen, uit!”καὶ ταῦτα εἰπὼν φωνῇ μεγάλῃ ἐκραύγασεν· Λάζαρε, δεῦρο ἔξω.After Jesus had said this, He called out in a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!”44Die dooie het uitgekom, sy voete en hande met doeke gebind, en sy gesig was met 'n sweetdoek toegebind. The man who had been dead came out with his hands and feet bound in strips of linen, and his face wrapped in a cloth. “Unwrap him and let him go,” Jesus told them.
45Baie van die Jode dan wat na Maria gekom het en gesien het wat Hy gedoen het, het in Hom geglo;Πολλοὶ οὖν ἐκ τῶν Ἰουδαίων, οἱ ἐλθόντες πρὸς τὴν ⸀Μαριὰμ καὶ θεασάμενοι ⸀ἃ ⸀ἐποίησεν, ἐπίστευσαν εἰς αὐτόν·Therefore many of the Jews who had come to Mary, and had seen what Jesus did, believed in Him.46maar sommige van hulle het na die Fariseërs gegaan en vir hulle vertel wat Jesus gedoen het.τινὲς δὲ ἐξ αὐτῶν ἀπῆλθον πρὸς τοὺς Φαρισαίους καὶ εἶπαν αὐτοῖς ἃ ⸀ἐποίησεν Ἰησοῦς.But some of them went to the Pharisees and told them what Jesus had done.47Die leierpriesters en die Fariseërs het dus 'n raad bymekaargeroep en gesê: “Wat doen ons, want hierdie mens doen baie tekens?συνήγαγον οὖν οἱ ἀρχιερεῖς καὶ οἱ Φαρισαῖοι συνέδριον, καὶ ἔλεγον· Τί ποιοῦμεν ὅτι οὗτος ὁ ἄνθρωπος πολλὰ ⸂ποιεῖ σημεῖα⸃;Then the chief priests and Pharisees convened the Sanhedrin and said, “What are we to do? This man is performing many signs.48As ons Hom so laat begaan, sal almal in Hom glo, en die Romeine sal kom en ons plek sowel as ons nasie wegneem.”ἐὰν ἀφῶμεν αὐτὸν οὕτως, πάντες πιστεύσουσιν εἰς αὐτόν, καὶ ἐλεύσονται οἱ Ῥωμαῖοι καὶ ἀροῦσιν ἡμῶν καὶ τὸν τόπον καὶ τὸ ἔθνος.If we let Him go on like this, everyone will believe in Him, and then the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation.”49Maar een van hulle, Kajafas, wat daardie jaar hoëpriester was, het vir hulle gesê: “Julle weet niks nie,εἷς δέ τις ἐξ αὐτῶν Καϊάφας, ἀρχιερεὺς ὢν τοῦ ἐνιαυτοῦ ἐκείνου, εἶπεν αὐτοῖς· Ὑμεῖς οὐκ οἴδατε οὐδέν,But one of them, named Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, said to them, “You know nothing at all!50en julle bereken ook nie dat dit tot julle voordeel is dat een mens vir die volk sterf en nie die hele nasie omkom nie.”οὐδὲ ⸀λογίζεσθε ὅτι συμφέρει ⸀ὑμῖν ἵνα εἷς ἄνθρωπος ἀποθάνῃ ὑπὲρ τοῦ λαοῦ καὶ μὴ ὅλον τὸ ἔθνος ἀπόληται.You do not realize that it is better for you that one man die for the people than that the whole nation perish.”51Dit het hy egter nie uit homself gesê nie, maar omdat hy daardie jaar hoëpriester was, het hy geprofeteer dat Jesus vir die nasie sou sterf,τοῦτο δὲ ἀφʼ ἑαυτοῦ οὐκ εἶπεν, ἀλλὰ ἀρχιερεὺς ὢν τοῦ ἐνιαυτοῦ ἐκείνου ἐπροφήτευσεν ὅτι ἔμελλεν Ἰησοῦς ἀποθνῄσκειν ὑπὲρ τοῦ ἔθνους,Caiaphas did not say this on his own. Instead, as high priest that year, he was prophesying that Jesus would die for the nation,52en nie net vir die nasie nie, maar ook om die verstrooide kinders van God tot een te versamel.καὶ οὐχ ὑπὲρ τοῦ ἔθνους μόνον, ἀλλʼ ἵνα καὶ τὰ τέκνα τοῦ θεοῦ τὰ διεσκορπισμένα συναγάγῃ εἰς ἕν.and not only for the nation, but also for the scattered children of God, to gather them together into one.53Van daardie dag af het hulle dus raad gehou om Hom dood te maak.ἀπʼ ἐκείνης οὖν τῆς ἡμέρας ⸀ἐβουλεύσαντο ἵνα ἀποκτείνωσιν αὐτόν.So from that day on they plotted to kill Him.
As a result, Jesus no longer went about publicly among the Jews, but He withdrew to a town called Ephraim in an area near the wilderness. And He stayed there with the disciples.55Die pasga van die Jode was naby, en baie het uit die streek op na Jerusalem gegaan voor die pasga, om hulle te reinig.Ἦν δὲ ἐγγὺς τὸ πάσχα τῶν Ἰουδαίων, καὶ ἀνέβησαν πολλοὶ εἰς Ἱεροσόλυμα ἐκ τῆς χώρας πρὸ τοῦ πάσχα ἵνα ἁγνίσωσιν ἑαυτούς.Now the Jewish Passover was near, and many people went up from the country to Jerusalem to purify themselves before the Passover.56Hulle het dus Jesus gesoek en vir mekaar gesê terwyl hulle in die tempel staan: “Wat dink julle? Dat Hy glad nie na die fees sal kom nie?”ἐζήτουν οὖν τὸν Ἰησοῦν καὶ ἔλεγον μετʼ ἀλλήλων ἐν τῷ ἱερῷ ἑστηκότες· Τί δοκεῖ ὑμῖν; ὅτι οὐ μὴ ἔλθῃ εἰς τὴν ἑορτήν;They kept looking for Jesus and asking one another as they stood in the temple courts, “What do you think? Will He come to the feast at all?”57Die leierpriesters en die Fariseërs het gebooie gegee dat as iemand weet waar Hy is, hy dit moet aangee, sodat hulle Hom kan gryp.δεδώκεισαν ⸀δὲ οἱ ἀρχιερεῖς καὶ οἱ Φαρισαῖοι ⸀ἐντολὰς ἵνα ἐάν τις γνῷ ποῦ ἐστιν μηνύσῃ, ὅπως πιάσωσιν αὐτόν.But the chief priests and Pharisees had given orders that anyone who knew where He was must report it, so that they could arrest Him.
