1Hierna het Jesus weggegaan na die ander kant van die see van Galilea, van Tiberias.Μετὰ ταῦτα ἀπῆλθεν ὁ Ἰησοῦς πέραν τῆς θαλάσσης τῆς Γαλιλαίας τῆς Τιβεριάδος.After this, Jesus crossed to the other side of the Sea of Galilee (that is, the Sea of Tiberias).2En 'n groot skare het Hom gevolg, omdat hulle die tekens gesien het wat Hy aan die siekes gedoen het.⸂ἠκολούθει δὲ⸃ αὐτῷ ὄχλος πολύς, ὅτι ⸀ἐθεώρουν τὰ σημεῖα ἃ ἐποίει ἐπὶ τῶν ἀσθενούντων.A large crowd followed Him because they saw the signs He was performing on the sick.3Jesus het toe die berg opgegaan, en Hy het daar saam met Sy dissipels gesit.ἀνῆλθεν δὲ εἰς τὸ ⸀ὄρος Ἰησοῦς, καὶ ἐκεῖ ἐκάθητο μετὰ τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦ.Then Jesus went up on the mountain and sat down with His disciples.4En die pasga, die fees van die Jode, was naby.ἦν δὲ ἐγγὺς τὸ πάσχα, ἡ ἑορτὴ τῶν Ἰουδαίων.Now the Jewish Feast of the Passover was near.5Toe Jesus dan Sy oë opslaan en sien dat 'n groot skare na Hom toe kom, sê Hy vir Filippus: “Waar sal ons brood koop sodat hierdie mense kan eet?”ἐπάρας οὖν ⸂τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς ὁ Ἰησοῦς⸃ καὶ θεασάμενος ὅτι πολὺς ὄχλος ἔρχεται πρὸς αὐτὸν λέγει ⸀πρὸς Φίλιππον· Πόθεν ⸀ἀγοράσωμεν ἄρτους ἵνα φάγωσιν οὗτοι;When Jesus looked up and saw a large crowd coming toward Him, He said to Philip, “Where can we buy bread for these people to eat?”6Dit het Hy egter gesê om hom op die proef te stel, want Hy het self geweet wat Hy sou doen.τοῦτο δὲ ἔλεγεν πειράζων αὐτόν, αὐτὸς γὰρ ᾔδει τί ἔμελλεν ποιεῖν.But He was asking this to test him, for He knew what He was about to do.7Filippus het Hom geantwoord: “Brood van 200 denarii is nie genoeg vir hulle sodat elkeen 'n bietjie kan kry nie.”aOngeveer 200 daglone; een denarius was 'n dagloon.ἀπεκρίθη ⸀αὐτῷ Φίλιππος· Διακοσίων δηναρίων ἄρτοι οὐκ ἀρκοῦσιν αὐτοῖς ἵνα ⸀ἕκαστος βραχύ ⸀τι λάβῃ.Philip answered, “Two hundred denarii would not buy enough bread for each of them to have a small piece.”8Een van Sy dissipels, Andreas, die broer van Simon Petrus, sê vir Hom:λέγει αὐτῷ εἷς ἐκ τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦ, Ἀνδρέας ὁ ἀδελφὸς Σίμωνος Πέτρου·One of His disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to Him,9“Hier is 'n seuntjie wat vyf garsbrode en twee visse het, maar wat is dit vir so baie?”Ἔστιν ⸀παιδάριον ὧδε ⸀ὃς ἔχει πέντε ἄρτους κριθίνους καὶ δύο ὀψάρια· ἀλλὰ ταῦτα τί ἐστιν εἰς τοσούτους;“Here is a boy with five barley loaves and two small fish. But what difference will these make among so many?”10Jesus het gesê: “Maak dat die mense gaan sit.” Daar was baie gras op die plek. Die mans het dan gaan sit, in getal ongeveer 5000.⸀εἶπεν ὁ Ἰησοῦς· Ποιήσατε τοὺς ἀνθρώπους ἀναπεσεῖν. ἦν δὲ χόρτος πολὺς ἐν τῷ τόπῳ. ἀνέπεσαν οὖν οἱ ἄνδρες τὸν ἀριθμὸν ⸀ὡς πεντακισχίλιοι.“Have the people sit down,” Jesus said. Now there was plenty of grass in that place, so the men sat down, about five thousand of them.11Jesus het toe die brode geneem, en nadat Hy gedank het, dit uitgedeel aan dié wat aangesit het; net so ook van die visse, soveel as wat hulle wou hê.aSommige manuskripte lees: dit aan die dissipels uitgedeel, en die dissipels aan dié wat aangesit het.ἔλαβεν ⸀οὖν τοὺς ἄρτους ὁ Ἰησοῦς καὶ εὐχαριστήσας ⸀διέδωκεν τοῖς ἀνακειμένοις, ὁμοίως καὶ ἐκ τῶν ὀψαρίων ὅσον ἤθελον.Then Jesus took the loaves and the fish, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted.12En toe hulle versadig was, sê Hy vir Sy dissipels: “Maak die oorgeblewe stukke bymekaar, sodat niks verlore gaan nie.”ὡς δὲ ἐνεπλήσθησαν λέγει τοῖς μαθηταῖς αὐτοῦ· Συναγάγετε τὰ περισσεύσαντα κλάσματα, ἵνα μή τι ἀπόληται.And when everyone was full, He said to His disciples, “Gather the pieces that are left over, so that nothing will be wasted.”13Hulle het dit toe bymekaargemaak en twaalf mandjies volgemaak met stukke van die vyf garsbrode wat oorgebly het by dié wat geëet het.συνήγαγον οὖν, καὶ ἐγέμισαν δώδεκα κοφίνους κλασμάτων ἐκ τῶν πέντε ἄρτων τῶν κριθίνων ἃ ⸀ἐπερίσσευσαν τοῖς βεβρωκόσιν.So they collected them and filled twelve baskets with the pieces of the five barley loaves left over by those who had eaten.14Toe die mense dan die teken sien wat Hy gedoen het, het hulle gesê: “Dit is werklik die profeet wat in die wêreld kom.”οἱ οὖν ἄνθρωποι ἰδόντες ⸂ὃ ἐποίησεν σημεῖον⸃ ⸀ἔλεγον ὅτι Οὗτός ἐστιν ἀληθῶς ὁ προφήτης ὁ ἐρχόμενος εἰς τὸν κόσμον.When the people saw the sign that Jesus had performed, they began to say, “Truly this is the Prophet who is to come into the world.”15Jesus het dan, omdat Hy geweet het dat hulle op die punt was om te kom en Hom te gryp om Hom koning te maak, weer na die berg teruggetrek, Hy alleen.Ἰησοῦς οὖν γνοὺς ὅτι μέλλουσιν ἔρχεσθαι καὶ ἁρπάζειν αὐτὸν ἵνα ⸀ποιήσωσιν βασιλέα ἀνεχώρησεν ⸀πάλιν εἰς τὸ ὄρος αὐτὸς μόνος.Then Jesus, realizing that they were about to come and make Him king by force, withdrew again to a mountain by Himself.
16Toe dit aand geword het, het Sy dissipels afgegaan na die see,Ὡς δὲ ὀψία ἐγένετο κατέβησαν οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τὴν θάλασσαν,When evening came, His disciples went down to the sea,17en hulle het in 'n skip geklim en oor die see na Kapernaum gegaan. καὶ σκοτία ἤδη ἐγεγόνει καὶ ⸀οὔπω ἐληλύθει πρὸς αὐτοὺς ὁ Ἰησοῦς,got into a boat, and started across the sea to Capernaum. It was already dark, and Jesus had not yet gone out to them.18en die see het woelig geword terwyl 'n sterk wind gewaai het.ἥ τε θάλασσα ἀνέμου μεγάλου πνέοντος ⸀διεγείρετο.A strong wind was blowing, and the sea grew agitated.19Nadat hulle dan omtrent 25 of 30 stadia geroei het, sien hulle Jesus op die see loop en naby die skuit kom, en hulle het bang geword.aOngeveer vyf tot ses kilometer.ἐληλακότες οὖν ὡς σταδίους εἴκοσι πέντε ἢ τριάκοντα θεωροῦσιν τὸν Ἰησοῦν περιπατοῦντα ἐπὶ τῆς θαλάσσης καὶ ἐγγὺς τοῦ πλοίου γινόμενον, καὶ ἐφοβήθησαν.When they had rowed about three or four miles, they saw Jesus approaching the boat, walking on the sea—and they were terrified.20Maar Hy sê vir hulle: “Dit is Ek; moenie bang wees nie.”aLetterlik: Ek is.ὁ δὲ λέγει αὐτοῖς· Ἐγώ εἰμι, μὴ φοβεῖσθε.But Jesus spoke up: “It is I; do not be afraid.”21Toe wou hulle Hom in die skuit neem, en dadelik was die skuit aan die land waarheen hulle op pad was.ἤθελον οὖν λαβεῖν αὐτὸν εἰς τὸ πλοῖον, καὶ εὐθέως ⸂ἐγένετο τὸ πλοῖον⸃ ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς εἰς ἣν ὑπῆγον.Then they were willing to take Him into the boat, and at once the boat reached the shore where they were heading.
22Die volgende dag het die menigte wat anderkant die see gestaan het, gesien dat daar geen ander bootjie was nie, behalwe een, en dat Jesus nie saam met Sy dissipels in die skip ingegaan het nie, maar dat Sy dissipels alleen weggegaan het.Τῇ ἐπαύριον ὁ ὄχλος ὁ ἑστηκὼς πέραν τῆς θαλάσσης ⸀εἶδον ὅτι πλοιάριον ἄλλο οὐκ ἦν ἐκεῖ εἰ μὴ ⸀ἕν, καὶ ὅτι οὐ συνεισῆλθεν τοῖς μαθηταῖς αὐτοῦ ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἰς τὸ ⸀πλοῖον ἀλλὰ μόνοι οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ ἀπῆλθον·The next day, the crowd that had remained on the other side of the sea realized that only one boat had been there, and that Jesus had not boarded it with His disciples, but they had gone away alone.23Maar daar het skuitjies van Tiberias af gekom naby die plek waar hulle die brood geëet het nadat die Here gedank het.aOf: Ander skuitjies het van Tiberias af gekom.⸀ἀλλὰ ἦλθεν ⸀πλοιάρια ἐκ Τιβεριάδος ἐγγὺς τοῦ τόπου ὅπου ἔφαγον τὸν ἄρτον εὐχαριστήσαντος τοῦ κυρίου.However, some boats from Tiberias landed near the place where the people had eaten the bread after the Lord had given thanks.24Toe die skare dan sien dat Jesus nie daar is nie en ook nie Sy dissipels nie, het hulle self in die skuitjies geklim en na Kapernaum gekom, op soek na Jesus.ὅτε οὖν εἶδεν ὁ ὄχλος ὅτι Ἰησοῦς οὐκ ἔστιν ἐκεῖ οὐδὲ οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ, ἐνέβησαν αὐτοὶ εἰς τὰ ⸀πλοιάρια καὶ ἦλθον εἰς Καφαρναοὺμ ζητοῦντες τὸν Ἰησοῦν.So when the crowd saw that neither Jesus nor His disciples were there, they got into the boats and went to Capernaum to look for Him.25En toe hulle Hom anderkant die see gevind het, sê hulle vir Hom: “Rabbi, wanneer het U hier gekom?”Καὶ εὑρόντες αὐτὸν πέραν τῆς θαλάσσης εἶπον αὐτῷ· Ῥαββί, πότε ὧδε γέγονας;When they found Him on the other side of the sea, they asked Him, “Rabbi, when did You get here?”26Jesus het hulle geantwoord en gesê: “Waarlik, waarlik, Ek sê vir julle: Julle soek My, nie omdat julle tekens gesien het nie, maar omdat julle van die brode geëet het en versadig geword het.ἀπεκρίθη αὐτοῖς ὁ Ἰησοῦς καὶ εἶπεν· Ἀμὴν ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν, ζητεῖτέ με οὐχ ὅτι εἴδετε σημεῖα ἀλλʼ ὅτι ἐφάγετε ἐκ τῶν ἄρτων καὶ ἐχορτάσθητε·Jesus replied, “Truly, truly, I tell you, it is not because you saw these signs that you are looking for Me, but because you ate the loaves and had your fill.27Werk nie vir die kos wat vergaan nie, maar vir die kos wat bly tot ewige lewe, wat die Seun van die mens vir julle sal gee; want Hom het die Vader, God, verseël.”ἐργάζεσθε μὴ τὴν βρῶσιν τὴν ἀπολλυμένην ἀλλὰ τὴν βρῶσιν τὴν μένουσαν εἰς ζωὴν αἰώνιον, ἣν ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ὑμῖν δώσει, τοῦτον γὰρ ὁ πατὴρ ἐσφράγισεν ὁ θεός.Do not work for food that perishes, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For on Him God the Father has placed His seal of approval.”28Hulle het dan vir Hom gesê: “Wat moet ons doen sodat ons die werke van God kan werk?”εἶπον οὖν πρὸς αὐτόν· Τί ποιῶμεν ἵνα ἐργαζώμεθα τὰ ἔργα τοῦ θεοῦ;Then they inquired, “What must we do to perform the works of God?”29Jesus het geantwoord en vir hulle gesê: “Dit is die werk van God: dat julle glo in Hom wat Hy gestuur het.”ἀπεκρίθη ⸀ὁ Ἰησοῦς καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς· Τοῦτό ἐστιν τὸ ἔργον τοῦ θεοῦ ἵνα ⸀πιστεύητε εἰς ὃν ἀπέστειλεν ἐκεῖνος.Jesus replied, “The work of God is this: to believe in the One He has sent.”30Hulle het dan vir Hom gesê: “Watter teken doen U dan, sodat ons kan sien en U kan glo? Wat werk U?”εἶπον οὖν αὐτῷ· Τί οὖν ποιεῖς σὺ σημεῖον, ἵνα ἴδωμεν καὶ πιστεύσωμέν σοι; τί ἐργάζῃ;So they asked Him, “What sign then will You perform, so that we may see it and believe You? What will You do?31Ons vaders het die manna in die woestyn geëet, soos daar geskrywe staan: ‘Brood uit die hemel het Hy aan hulle gegee om te eet.’”aAanhaling uit Psalm 78:24.οἱ πατέρες ἡμῶν τὸ μάννα ἔφαγον ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ, καθώς ἐστιν γεγραμμένον· Ἄρτον ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ ἔδωκεν αὐτοῖς φαγεῖν.Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, as it is written: ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’ ”32Jesus het dan vir hulle gesê: “Voorwaar, voorwaar, Ek sê vir julle, nie Moses het julle die brood uit die hemel gegee nie, maar My Vader gee julle die ware brood uit die hemel;εἶπεν οὖν αὐτοῖς ὁ Ἰησοῦς· Ἀμὴν ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν, οὐ Μωϋσῆς ⸀δέδωκεν ὑμῖν τὸν ἄρτον ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ, ἀλλʼ ὁ πατήρ μου δίδωσιν ὑμῖν τὸν ἄρτον ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ τὸν ἀληθινόν·Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I tell you, it was not Moses who gave you the bread from heaven, but it is My Father who gives you the true bread from heaven.33Want die brood van God is dié wat uit die hemel neerdaal en lewe aan die wêreld gee.”aOf: is Hy wat uit die hemel neerdaal.ὁ γὰρ ἄρτος τοῦ θεοῦ ἐστιν ὁ καταβαίνων ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ ζωὴν διδοὺς τῷ κόσμῳ.For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”34Hulle het dan vir Hom gesê: “Here, gee ons altyd hierdie brood.”εἶπον οὖν πρὸς αὐτόν· Κύριε, πάντοτε δὸς ἡμῖν τὸν ἄρτον τοῦτον.“Sir,” they said, “give us this bread at all times.”35Jesus het vir hulle gesê: “Ek is die brood van die lewe; wie na My toe kom, sal nooit honger word nie, en wie in My glo, sal nooit ooit dors word nie.⸀Εἶπεν αὐτοῖς ὁ Ἰησοῦς· Ἐγώ εἰμι ὁ ἄρτος τῆς ζωῆς· ὁ ἐρχόμενος πρὸς ἐμὲ οὐ μὴ πεινάσῃ, καὶ ὁ πιστεύων εἰς ⸀ἐμὲ οὐ μὴ ⸀διψήσει πώποτε.Jesus answered, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to Me will never hunger, and whoever believes in Me will never thirst.36Maar Ek het vir julle gesê dat julle My gesien het, en julle glo nie.ἀλλʼ εἶπον ὑμῖν ὅτι καὶ ἑωράκατέ με καὶ οὐ πιστεύετε.But as I stated, you have seen Me and still you do not believe.37Alles wat die Vader aan My gee, sal na My toe kom, en hom wat na My toe kom, sal Ek nooit buitentoe uitwerp nie,πᾶν ὃ δίδωσίν μοι ὁ πατὴρ πρὸς ἐμὲ ἥξει, καὶ τὸν ἐρχόμενον πρός ⸀με οὐ μὴ ἐκβάλω ἔξω,Everyone the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will never drive away.38want Ek het uit die hemel neergedaal, nie om My wil te doen nie, maar die wil van Hom wat My gestuur het.ὅτι καταβέβηκα ⸀ἀπὸ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ οὐχ ἵνα ποιῶ τὸ θέλημα τὸ ἐμὸν ἀλλὰ τὸ θέλημα τοῦ πέμψαντός με·For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but to do the will of Him who sent Me.39En dit is die wil van Hom wat My gestuur het: dat Ek van alles wat Hy My gegee het, niks verloor nie, maar dit opwek op die laaste dag.τοῦτο δέ ἐστιν τὸ θέλημα τοῦ πέμψαντός ⸀με ἵνα πᾶν ὃ δέδωκέν μοι μὴ ἀπολέσω ἐξ αὐτοῦ ἀλλὰ ἀναστήσω ⸀αὐτὸ τῇ ἐσχάτῃ ἡμέρᾳ.And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that I shall lose none of those He has given Me, but raise them up at the last day.40Want dit is die wil van My Vader, dat elkeen wat die Seun sien en in Hom glo, ewige lewe het; en Ek sal hom opwek op die laaste dag.”τοῦτο ⸀γάρ ἐστιν τὸ θέλημα τοῦ ⸂πατρός μου⸃ ἵνα πᾶς ὁ θεωρῶν τὸν υἱὸν καὶ πιστεύων εἰς αὐτὸν ἔχῃ ζωὴν αἰώνιον, καὶ ἀναστήσω αὐτὸν ⸀ἐγὼ τῇ ἐσχάτῃ ἡμέρᾳ.For it is My Father’s will that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in Him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.”
41Die Jode het toe oor Hom gemor, omdat Hy gesê het: “Ek is die brood wat uit die hemel neergedaal het,”Ἐγόγγυζον οὖν οἱ Ἰουδαῖοι περὶ αὐτοῦ ὅτι εἶπεν· Ἐγώ εἰμι ὁ ἄρτος ὁ καταβὰς ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ,At this, the Jews began to grumble about Jesus because He had said, “I am the bread that came down from heaven.”42en hulle het gesê: “Is dit nie Jesus, die seun van Josef, wie se vader en moeder ons ken nie? Hoe sê Hy nou: ‘Ek het uit die hemel neergedaal’?”καὶ ἔλεγον· ⸀Οὐχ οὗτός ἐστιν Ἰησοῦς ὁ υἱὸς Ἰωσήφ, οὗ ἡμεῖς οἴδαμεν τὸν πατέρα καὶ τὴν μητέρα; πῶς ⸀νῦν ⸀λέγει ὅτι Ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καταβέβηκα;They were asking, “Is this not Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How then can He say, ‘I have come down from heaven?’”43Jesus het geantwoord en vir hulle gesê: “Moenie onder mekaar mor nie.⸀ἀπεκρίθη Ἰησοῦς καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς· Μὴ γογγύζετε μετʼ ἀλλήλων.“Stop grumbling among yourselves,” Jesus replied.44Niemand kan na My toe kom tensy die Vader wat My gestuur het, hom trek nie, en Ek sal hom opwek op die laaste dag.οὐδεὶς δύναται ἐλθεῖν πρός ⸀με ἐὰν μὴ ὁ πατὴρ ὁ πέμψας με ἑλκύσῃ αὐτόν, κἀγὼ ἀναστήσω αὐτὸν ἐν τῇ ἐσχάτῃ ἡμέρᾳ.“No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day.45Daar staan geskrywe in die profete: ‘En hulle sal almal deur God geleer wees.’ Elkeen wat van die Vader gehoor en geleer het, kom na My toe.aAanhaling uit Jesaja 54:13.ἔστιν γεγραμμένον ἐν τοῖς προφήταις· Καὶ ἔσονται πάντες διδακτοὶ θεοῦ· ⸀πᾶς ὁ ⸀ἀκούσας παρὰ τοῦ πατρὸς καὶ μαθὼν ἔρχεται πρὸς ⸀ἐμέ.It is written in the Prophets: ‘And they will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who has heard the Father and learned from Him comes to Me—46Nie dat iemand die Vader gesien het nie, behalwe Hy wat van God is; Hy het die Vader gesien.οὐχ ὅτι τὸν πατέρα ⸂ἑώρακέν τις⸃ εἰ μὴ ὁ ὢν παρὰ τοῦ θεοῦ, οὗτος ἑώρακεν τὸν πατέρα.not that anyone has seen the Father except the One who is from God; only He has seen the Father.47Voorwaar, voorwaar, Ek sê vir julle, wie glo, het ewige lewe.aSommige manuskripte lees: wie in My glo.ἀμὴν ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν, ὁ ⸀πιστεύων ἔχει ζωὴν αἰώνιον.Truly, truly, I tell you, he who believes has eternal life.48Ek is die brood van die lewe.ἐγώ εἰμι ὁ ἄρτος τῆς ζωῆς·I am the bread of life.49Julle vaders het in die woestyn die manna geëet en gesterf;οἱ πατέρες ὑμῶν ἔφαγον ⸂ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ τὸ μάννα⸃ καὶ ἀπέθανον·Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, yet they died.50Dit is die brood wat uit die hemel neerdaal, sodat iemand daarvan kan eet en nie sterf nie.οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ ἄρτος ὁ ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καταβαίνων ἵνα τις ἐξ αὐτοῦ φάγῃ καὶ μὴ ἀποθάνῃ·This is the bread that comes down from heaven, so that anyone may eat of it and not die.51Ek is die lewende brood wat uit die hemel neergedaal het; as iemand van hierdie brood eet, sal hy lewe tot in ewigheid, en die brood wat Ek sal gee, is My vlees, vir die lewe van die wêreld.”aSommige manuskripte lees: ... is My vlees, wat Ek sal gee vir die lewe van die wêreld.ἐγώ εἰμι ὁ ἄρτος ὁ ζῶν ὁ ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καταβάς· ἐάν τις φάγῃ ἐκ τούτου τοῦ ἄρτου ⸀ζήσει εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα, καὶ ὁ ἄρτος δὲ ὃν ἐγὼ δώσω ἡ σάρξ μού ⸀ἐστιν ὑπὲρ τῆς τοῦ κόσμου ζωῆς.I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. And this bread, which I will give for the life of the world, is My flesh.”
52Die Jode het dan onder mekaar gestry en gesê: “Hoe kan hierdie een ons Sy vlees gee om te eet?”Ἐμάχοντο οὖν πρὸς ἀλλήλους οἱ Ἰουδαῖοι λέγοντες· Πῶς δύναται οὗτος ἡμῖν δοῦναι τὴν σάρκα ⸀αὐτοῦ φαγεῖν;At this, the Jews began to argue among themselves, “How can this man give us His flesh to eat?”53Jesus het dan vir hulle gesê: “Voorwaar, voorwaar, Ek sê vir julle, as julle nie die vlees van die Seun van die mens eet en Sy bloed drink nie, het julle nie lewe in julleself nie.εἶπεν οὖν αὐτοῖς ὁ Ἰησοῦς· Ἀμὴν ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν, ἐὰν μὴ φάγητε τὴν σάρκα τοῦ υἱοῦ τοῦ ἀνθρώπου καὶ πίητε αὐτοῦ τὸ αἷμα, οὐκ ἔχετε ζωὴν ἐν ἑαυτοῖς.So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I tell you, unless you eat the flesh and drink the blood of the Son of Man, you have no life in you.54Wie My vlees eet en My bloed drink, het ewige lewe, en Ek sal hom opwek op die laaste dag.ὁ τρώγων μου τὴν σάρκα καὶ πίνων μου τὸ αἷμα ἔχει ζωὴν αἰώνιον, κἀγὼ ἀναστήσω αὐτὸν τῇ ἐσχάτῃ ἡμέρᾳ.Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.55Want My vlees is ware voedsel, en My bloed is ware drank.ἡ γὰρ σάρξ μου ⸀ἀληθής ἐστι βρῶσις, καὶ τὸ αἷμά μου ⸁ἀληθής ἐστι πόσις.For My flesh is real food, and My blood is real drink.56Wie My vlees eet en My bloed drink, bly in My, en Ek in hom.ὁ τρώγων μου τὴν σάρκα καὶ πίνων μου τὸ αἷμα ἐν ἐμοὶ μένει κἀγὼ ἐν αὐτῷ.Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood remains in Me, and I in him.57Soos die lewende Vader My gestuur het en Ek vanweë die Vader lewe, so sal ook hy wat My eet, vanweë My lewe.aOf: en Ek deur die Vader lewe, so sal ook hy wat My eet, deur My lewe.καθὼς ἀπέστειλέν με ὁ ζῶν πατὴρ κἀγὼ ζῶ διὰ τὸν πατέρα, καὶ ὁ τρώγων με κἀκεῖνος ⸀ζήσει διʼ ἐμέ.Just as the living Father sent Me and I live because of the Father, so also the one who feeds on Me will live because of Me.58Dit is die brood wat uit die hemel neergedaal het; nie soos die vaders geëet het en gesterf het nie. Wie hierdie brood eet, sal tot in ewigheid lewe.”aSommige manuskripte lees: soos julle vaders die manna geëet het.οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ ἄρτος ὁ ⸀ἐξ οὐρανοῦ καταβάς, οὐ καθὼς ἔφαγον οἱ ⸀πατέρες καὶ ἀπέθανον· ὁ τρώγων τοῦτον τὸν ἄρτον ⸀ζήσει εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα.This is the bread that came down from heaven. Unlike your fathers, who ate the manna and died, the one who eats this bread will live forever.”59Hierdie dinge het Hy gesê in die sinagoge terwyl Hy in Kapernaum geleer het.ταῦτα εἶπεν ἐν συναγωγῇ διδάσκων ἐν Καφαρναούμ.Jesus said this while teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum.
60Baie van Sy dissipels wat dit gehoor het, het toe gesê: “Hierdie woord is hard; wie kan daarna luister?”Πολλοὶ οὖν ἀκούσαντες ἐκ τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦ εἶπαν· Σκληρός ἐστιν ⸂ὁ λόγος οὗτος⸃· τίς δύναται αὐτοῦ ἀκούειν;On hearing it, many of His disciples said, “This is a difficult teaching. Who can accept it?”61Maar Jesus, wat by Homself geweet het dat Sy dissipels hieroor murmureer, het vir hulle gesê: “Laat dit julle struikel?εἰδὼς δὲ ὁ Ἰησοῦς ἐν ἑαυτῷ ὅτι γογγύζουσιν περὶ τούτου οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς· Τοῦτο ὑμᾶς σκανδαλίζει;Aware that His disciples were grumbling about this teaching, Jesus asked them, “Does this offend you?62En as julle dan die Seun van die mens sien opvaar na waar Hy tevore was?ἐὰν οὖν θεωρῆτε τὸν υἱὸν τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἀναβαίνοντα ὅπου ἦν τὸ πρότερον;Then what will happen if you see the Son of Man ascend to where He was before?63Dit is die Gees wat lewend maak; die vlees help niks nie. Die woorde wat Ek vir julle gespreek het, is gees en is lewe.τὸ πνεῦμά ἐστιν τὸ ζῳοποιοῦν, ἡ σὰρξ οὐκ ὠφελεῖ οὐδέν· τὰ ῥήματα ἃ ἐγὼ ⸀λελάληκα ὑμῖν πνεῦμά ἐστιν καὶ ζωή ἐστιν.The Spirit gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life.64Maar daar is sommige van julle wat nie glo nie.” Want Jesus het van die begin af geweet wie dié is wat nie glo nie, en wie dit is wat Hom sou oorlewer.ἀλλὰ εἰσὶν ἐξ ὑμῶν τινες οἳ οὐ πιστεύουσιν. ᾔδει γὰρ ἐξ ἀρχῆς ὁ Ἰησοῦς τίνες εἰσὶν οἱ μὴ πιστεύοντες καὶ τίς ἐστιν ὁ παραδώσων αὐτόν.However, there are some of you who do not believe.” (For Jesus had known from the beginning which of them did not believe and who would betray Him.)65En Hy het gesê: “Daarom het Ek vir julle gesê dat niemand na My toe kan kom nie, tensy dit aan hom gegee is deur die Vader.”καὶ ἔλεγεν· Διὰ τοῦτο εἴρηκα ὑμῖν ὅτι οὐδεὶς δύναται ἐλθεῖν πρός με ἐὰν μὴ ᾖ δεδομένον αὐτῷ ἐκ τοῦ ⸀πατρός.Then Jesus said, “This is why I told you that no one can come to Me unless the Father has granted it to him.”66Hierop het baie van Sy dissipels teruggegaan en nie meer saam met Hom rondgeloop nie.aLetterlik: na die dinge agter.Ἐκ τούτου πολλοὶ ⸀ἐκ ⸂τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦ ἀπῆλθον⸃ εἰς τὰ ὀπίσω καὶ οὐκέτι μετʼ αὐτοῦ περιεπάτουν.From that time on many of His disciples turned back and no longer walked with Him.67Jesus het dan vir die twaalf gesê: “Julle wil tog nie ook weggaan nie?”εἶπεν οὖν ὁ Ἰησοῦς τοῖς δώδεκα· Μὴ καὶ ὑμεῖς θέλετε ὑπάγειν;So Jesus asked the Twelve, “Do you want to leave too?”68Simon Petrus het Hom geantwoord: “Here, na wie sal ons gaan? U het woorde van ewige lewe,⸀ἀπεκρίθη αὐτῷ Σίμων Πέτρος· Κύριε, πρὸς τίνα ἀπελευσόμεθα; ῥήματα ζωῆς αἰωνίου ἔχεις,Simon Peter replied, “Lord, to whom would we go?
