1Op die eerste dag van die week kom Maria Magdalena vroeg, terwyl daar nog duisternis was, na die graf, en sy sien dat die steen van die graf weggeneem is.aLetterlik: op die eerste van die sabbatte.Τῇ δὲ μιᾷ τῶν σαββάτων Μαρία ἡ Μαγδαληνὴ ἔρχεται πρωῒ σκοτίας ἔτι οὔσης εἰς τὸ μνημεῖον, καὶ βλέπει τὸν λίθον ἠρμένον ἐκ τοῦ μνημείου.Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the entrance.2Sy hardloop toe en kom by Simon Petrus en by die ander dissipel vir wie Jesus lief was, en sy sê vir hulle: “Hulle het die Here uit die graf weggeneem, en ons weet nie waar hulle Hom neergelê het nie.”τρέχει οὖν καὶ ἔρχεται πρὸς Σίμωνα Πέτρον καὶ πρὸς τὸν ἄλλον μαθητὴν ὃν ἐφίλει ὁ Ἰησοῦς, καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς· Ἦραν τὸν κύριον ἐκ τοῦ μνημείου, καὶ οὐκ οἴδαμεν ποῦ ἔθηκαν αὐτόν.So she came running to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved. “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb,” she said, “and we do not know where they have put Him!”3Petrus en die ander dissipel het toe uitgegaan en na die graf gegaan.ἐξῆλθεν οὖν ὁ Πέτρος καὶ ὁ ἄλλος μαθητής, καὶ ἤρχοντο εἰς τὸ μνημεῖον.Then Peter and the other disciple set out for the tomb.4Die twee het saam gehardloop, en die ander dissipel het vinniger as Petrus vooruit gehardloop en eerste by die graf gekom,ἔτρεχον δὲ οἱ δύο ὁμοῦ· καὶ ὁ ἄλλος μαθητὴς προέδραμεν τάχιον τοῦ Πέτρου καὶ ἦλθεν πρῶτος εἰς τὸ μνημεῖον,The two were running together, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first.5en toe hy vooroor buk, sien hy die linnedoeke lê; hy het egter nie ingegaan nie.καὶ παρακύψας βλέπει κείμενα τὰ ὀθόνια, οὐ μέντοι εἰσῆλθεν.He bent down and looked in at the linen cloths lying there, but he did not go in.6Toe kom Simon Petrus ook, wat hom gevolg het, en hy het in die graf ingegaan, en hy sien die linnedoeke lê,ἔρχεται οὖν ⸀καὶ Σίμων Πέτρος ἀκολουθῶν αὐτῷ, καὶ εἰσῆλθεν εἰς τὸ μνημεῖον· καὶ θεωρεῖ τὰ ὀθόνια κείμενα,Simon Peter arrived just after him. He entered the tomb and saw the linen cloths lying there.7en die doek wat op Sy kop was, lê nie by die linnedoeke nie, maar apart opgerol op een plek.καὶ τὸ σουδάριον, ὃ ἦν ἐπὶ τῆς κεφαλῆς αὐτοῦ, οὐ μετὰ τῶν ὀθονίων κείμενον ἀλλὰ χωρὶς ἐντετυλιγμένον εἰς ἕνα τόπον·The cloth that had been around Jesus’ head was rolled up, lying separate from the linen cloths.8Toe het die ander dissipel, wat eerste by die graf gekom het, ook ingegaan, en hy het gesien en geglo;τότε οὖν εἰσῆλθεν καὶ ὁ ἄλλος μαθητὴς ὁ ἐλθὼν πρῶτος εἰς τὸ μνημεῖον, καὶ εἶδεν καὶ ἐπίστευσεν·Then the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went in. And he saw and believed.9want hulle het die Skrif nog nie verstaan nie, dat Hy uit die dode moes opstaan.οὐδέπω γὰρ ᾔδεισαν τὴν γραφὴν ὅτι δεῖ αὐτὸν ἐκ νεκρῶν ἀναστῆναι.For they still did not understand from the Scripture that Jesus had to rise from the dead.10Die dissipels het toe weer huis toe gegaan.aLetterlik: na hulleself.ἀπῆλθον οὖν πάλιν πρὸς ⸀αὑτοὺς οἱ μαθηταί.Then the disciples returned to their homes.
11Maria het egter buite by die graf gestaan en huil. Terwyl sy so huil, het sy gebuk en in die graf ingekyk,Μαρία δὲ εἱστήκει πρὸς ⸂τῷ μνημείῳ ἔξω κλαίουσα⸃. ὡς οὖν ἔκλαιεν παρέκυψεν εἰς τὸ μνημεῖον,But Mary stood outside the tomb weeping. And as she wept, she bent down to look into the tomb,12en sy sien twee engele in wit sit, een by die kop en een by die voete, waar die liggaam van Jesus gelê het.καὶ θεωρεῖ δύο ἀγγέλους ἐν λευκοῖς καθεζομένους, ἕνα πρὸς τῇ κεφαλῇ καὶ ἕνα πρὸς τοῖς ποσίν, ὅπου ἔκειτο τὸ σῶμα τοῦ Ἰησοῦ.and she saw two angels in white sitting where the body of Jesus had lain, one at the head and the other at the feet.13En hulle sê vir haar: “Vrou, waarom huil jy?” Sy sê vir hulle: “Hulle het my Here weggeneem, en ek weet nie waar hulle Hom neergelê het nie.”καὶ λέγουσιν αὐτῇ ἐκεῖνοι· Γύναι, τί κλαίεις; λέγει αὐτοῖς ὅτι Ἦραν τὸν κύριόν μου, καὶ οὐκ οἶδα ποῦ ἔθηκαν αὐτόν.“Woman, why are you weeping?” they asked. “Because they have taken my Lord away,” she said, “and I do not know where they have put Him.”14Nadat sy dit gesê het, het sy omgedraai, en sy sien Jesus staan, en sy het nie geweet dat dit Jesus is nie.⸀ταῦτα εἰποῦσα ἐστράφη εἰς τὰ ὀπίσω, καὶ θεωρεῖ τὸν Ἰησοῦν ἑστῶτα, καὶ οὐκ ᾔδει ὅτι Ἰησοῦς ἐστιν.When she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there. But she did not recognize that it was Jesus.15Jesus sê vir haar: “Vrou, waarom huil jy? Wie soek jy?” Omdat sy gedink het dat dit die tuinier is, sê sy vir Hom: “Meneer, as u Hom weggedra het, sê my waar u Hom neergelê het, en ek sal Hom wegneem.”λέγει ⸀αὐτῇ Ἰησοῦς· Γύναι, τί κλαίεις; τίνα ζητεῖς; ἐκείνη δοκοῦσα ὅτι ὁ κηπουρός ἐστιν λέγει αὐτῷ· Κύριε, εἰ σὺ ἐβάστασας αὐτόν, εἰπέ μοι ποῦ ἔθηκας αὐτόν, κἀγὼ αὐτὸν ἀρῶ.“Woman, why are you weeping?” Jesus asked. “Whom are you seeking?” Thinking He was the gardener, she said, “Sir, if you have carried Him off, tell me where you have put Him, and I will get Him.”16Jesus sê vir haar: “Maria!” Sy draai om en sê vir Hom in Hebreeus: “Rabboeni!”, wat Meester beteken.λέγει ⸀αὐτῇ Ἰησοῦς· ⸀Μαριάμ. στραφεῖσα ἐκείνη λέγει αὐτῷ ⸀Ἑβραϊστί· Ραββουνι (ὃ λέγεται Διδάσκαλε).Jesus said to her, “Mary.” She turned and said to Him in Hebrew, “Rabboni!” (which means “Teacher”).17Jesus sê vir haar: “Raak My nie aan nie, want Ek het nog nie na die Vader opgevaar nie. Maar gaan na My broers en sê vir hulle: ‘Ek vaar op na My Vader en julle Vader, en My God en julle God.’”aOf: Hou op om My vas te hou.bSommige manuskripte lees: na My Vader opgevaar nie.λέγει ⸀αὐτῇ Ἰησοῦς· Μή μου ἅπτου, οὔπω γὰρ ἀναβέβηκα πρὸς τὸν ⸀πατέρα· πορεύου δὲ πρὸς τοὺς ἀδελφούς μου καὶ εἰπὲ αὐτοῖς· Ἀναβαίνω πρὸς τὸν πατέρα μου καὶ πατέρα ὑμῶν καὶ θεόν μου καὶ θεὸν ὑμῶν.“Do not cling to Me,” Jesus said, “for I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go and tell My brothers, ‘I am ascending to My Father and your Father, to My God and your God.’”18Maria Magdalena kom en vertel die dissipels: “Ek het die Here gesien,” en dat Hy hierdie dinge vir haar gesê het.ἔρχεται ⸀Μαριὰμ ἡ Μαγδαληνὴ ⸀ἀγγέλλουσα τοῖς μαθηταῖς ὅτι ⸀Ἑώρακα τὸν κύριον καὶ ταῦτα εἶπεν αὐτῇ.Mary Magdalene went and announced to the disciples, “I have seen the Lord!” And she told them what He had said to her.
19Toe dit dan aand was op daardie dag, die eerste dag van die week, en die deure gesluit was waar die dissipels was, uit vrees vir die Jode, het Jesus gekom en in hulle midde gestaan, en Hy sê vir hulle: “Vrede vir julle!”aSommige manuskripte lees: waar die dissipels bymekaar was.Οὔσης οὖν ὀψίας τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ τῇ ⸀μιᾷ σαββάτων, καὶ τῶν θυρῶν κεκλεισμένων ὅπου ἦσαν οἱ ⸀μαθηταὶ διὰ τὸν φόβον τῶν Ἰουδαίων, ἦλθεν ὁ Ἰησοῦς καὶ ἔστη εἰς τὸ μέσον, καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς· Εἰρήνη ὑμῖν.It was the first day of the week, and that very evening, while the disciples were together with the doors locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them. “Peace be with you!” He said to them.20En nadat Hy dit gesê het, het Hy Sy hande en Sy sy aan hulle getoon. Die dissipels was toe bly toe hulle die Here sien.καὶ τοῦτο εἰπὼν ⸀ἔδειξεν τὰς χεῖρας καὶ τὴν πλευρὰν ⸀αὐτοῖς. ἐχάρησαν οὖν οἱ μαθηταὶ ἰδόντες τὸν κύριον.After He had said this, He showed them His hands and His side. The disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord.21Jesus sê toe weer vir hulle: “Vrede vir julle! Soos die Vader My gestuur het, stuur Ek julle ook.”εἶπεν οὖν αὐτοῖς ⸂ὁ Ἰησοῦς⸃ πάλιν· Εἰρήνη ὑμῖν· καθὼς ἀπέσταλκέν με ὁ πατήρ, κἀγὼ πέμπω ὑμᾶς.Again Jesus said to them, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent Me, so also I am sending you.”22En nadat Hy dit gesê het, het Hy op hulle geblaas en sê vir hulle: “Ontvang die Heilige Gees.καὶ τοῦτο εἰπὼν ἐνεφύσησεν καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς· Λάβετε πνεῦμα ἅγιον·When He had said this, He breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.23As julle iemand se sondes vergewe, is dit hulle vergewe; as julle iemand s'n behou, is dit behou.”ἄν τινων ἀφῆτε τὰς ἁμαρτίας ⸀ἀφέωνται αὐτοῖς· ἄν τινων κρατῆτε κεκράτηνται.If you forgive anyone his sins, they are forgiven; if you withhold forgiveness from anyone, it is withheld.”
24Maar Tomas, een van die twaalf, wat Didimus genoem word, was nie by hulle toe Jesus gekom het nie.Θωμᾶς δὲ εἷς ἐκ τῶν δώδεκα, ὁ λεγόμενος Δίδυμος, οὐκ ἦν μετʼ αὐτῶν ὅτε ⸀ἦλθεν Ἰησοῦς.Now Thomas called Didymus, one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came.25Die ander dissipels het toe vir hom gesê: “Ons het die Here gesien!” Maar hy het vir hulle gesê: “As ek nie in Sy hande die merk van die spykers sien en my vinger in die merk van die spykers steek en my hand in Sy sy steek nie, sal ek beslis nie glo nie.”ἔλεγον οὖν αὐτῷ οἱ ἄλλοι μαθηταί· Ἑωράκαμεν τὸν κύριον. So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he replied, “Unless I see the nail marks in His hands, and put my finger where the nails have been, and put my hand into His side, I will never believe.”
26En na agt dae was Sy dissipels weer binne, en Tomas by hulle. Jesus kom terwyl die deure gesluit was, en Hy het in hulle midde gestaan en gesê: “Vrede vir julle!”Καὶ μεθʼ ἡμέρας ὀκτὼ πάλιν ἦσαν ἔσω οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ καὶ Θωμᾶς μετʼ αὐτῶν. ἔρχεται ὁ Ἰησοῦς τῶν θυρῶν κεκλεισμένων, καὶ ἔστη εἰς τὸ μέσον καὶ εἶπεν· Εἰρήνη ὑμῖν.Eight days later, His disciples were once again inside with the doors locked, and Thomas was with them. Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.”27Daarna sê Hy vir Tomas: “Bring jou vinger hier en kyk na My hande, en bring jou hand en steek dit in My sy, en wees nie ongelowig nie, maar gelowig.”εἶτα λέγει τῷ Θωμᾷ· Φέρε τὸν δάκτυλόν σου ὧδε καὶ ἴδε τὰς χεῖράς μου, καὶ φέρε τὴν χεῖρά σου καὶ βάλε εἰς τὴν πλευράν μου, καὶ μὴ γίνου ἄπιστος ἀλλὰ πιστός.Then Jesus said to Thomas, “Put your finger here and look at My hands. Reach out your hand and put it into My side. Stop doubting and believe.”28Tomas het geantwoord en vir Hom gesê: “My Here en my God!”⸀ἀπεκρίθη Θωμᾶς καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ· Ὁ κύριός μου καὶ ὁ θεός μου.Thomas replied, “My Lord and my God!”29Jesus sê vir hom: “Omdat jy My gesien het, het jy geglo? Gelukkig is dié wat nie gesien het nie en geglo het.”aOf: Jy het geglo omdat jy My gesien het.λέγει αὐτῷ ὁ Ἰησοῦς· Ὅτι ἑώρακάς με πεπίστευκας; μακάριοι οἱ μὴ ἰδόντες καὶ πιστεύσαντες.Jesus said to him, “Because you have seen Me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
30Jesus het dan nog baie ander tekens voor die dissipels gedoen, wat nie in hierdie boek geskryf is nie;Πολλὰ μὲν οὖν καὶ ἄλλα σημεῖα ἐποίησεν ὁ Ἰησοῦς ἐνώπιον τῶν ⸀μαθητῶν, ἃ οὐκ ἔστιν γεγραμμένα ἐν τῷ βιβλίῳ τούτῳ·Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book.31maar hierdie is geskryf sodat julle kan glo dat Jesus die Christus is, die Seun van God, en sodat julle, deur te glo, lewe in Sy Naam kan hê.ταῦτα δὲ γέγραπται ἵνα ⸀πιστεύητε ὅτι Ἰησοῦς ἐστιν ὁ χριστὸς ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ θεοῦ, καὶ ἵνα πιστεύοντες ζωὴν ἔχητε ἐν τῷ ὀνόματι αὐτοῦ.But these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in His name.
