Ὡς οὖν ἔγνω ὁ ⸀Ἰησοῦς ὅτι ἤκουσαν οἱ Φαρισαῖοι ὅτι Ἰησοῦς πλείονας μαθητὰς ποιεῖ καὶ βαπτίζει ἢ Ἰωάννης—When Jesus realized that the Pharisees were aware He was gaining and baptizing more disciples than John
2hoewel Jesus self nie gedoop het nie, maar Sy dissipels—καίτοιγε Ἰησοῦς αὐτὸς οὐκ ἐβάπτιζεν ἀλλʼ οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ—(although it was not Jesus who baptized, but His disciples), 3het Hy Judea verlaat en weer na Galilea weggegaan.ἀφῆκεν τὴν Ἰουδαίαν καὶ ἀπῆλθεν ⸀πάλιν εἰς τὴν Γαλιλαίαν.He left Judea and returned to Galilee. Now He had to pass through Samaria. 5Hy kom dan by 'n stad van Samaria wat Sigar genoem word, naby die stuk grond wat Jakob aan sy seun Josef gegee het.ἔρχεται οὖν εἰς πόλιν τῆς Σαμαρείας λεγομένην Συχὰρ πλησίον τοῦ χωρίου ὃ ἔδωκεν Ἰακὼβ ⸀τῷ Ἰωσὴφ τῷ υἱῷ αὐτοῦ·So He came to a town of Samaria called Sychar, near the plot of ground that Jacob had given to his son Joseph. 6En daar was 'n bron van Jakob. Jesus dan, moeg van die reis, het net so by die bron gesit; dit was omtrent die sesde uur.
aOngeveer twaalfuur die middag.
Since Jacob’s well was there, Jesus, weary from His journey, sat down by the well. It was about the sixth hour.
Jesus sê vir haar: “Gee My iets om te drink.”Ἔρχεται γυνὴ ἐκ τῆς Σαμαρείας ἀντλῆσαι ὕδωρ. λέγει αὐτῇ ὁ Ἰησοῦς· Δός μοι πεῖν·When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, “Give Me a drink.” 8Want Sy dissipels het na die stad weggegaan om kos te koop.οἱ γὰρ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ ἀπεληλύθεισαν εἰς τὴν πόλιν, ἵνα τροφὰς ἀγοράσωσιν.(His disciples had gone into the town to buy food.) 9Die Samaritaanse vrou sê toe vir Hom: “Hoe vra U, wat 'n Jood is, van my, wat 'n Samaritaanse vrou is, iets om te drink?”
λέγει οὖν αὐτῷ ἡ γυνὴ ἡ Σαμαρῖτις· Πῶς σὺ Ἰουδαῖος ὢν παρʼ ἐμοῦ πεῖν αἰτεῖς ⸂γυναικὸς Σαμαρίτιδος οὔσης⸃; οὐ γὰρ συγχρῶνται Ἰουδαῖοι Σαμαρίταις.“You are a Jew,” said the woman. “How can You ask for a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?” (For Jews do not associate with Samaritans.)
10Jesus het geantwoord en vir haar gesê: “As jy die gawe van God geken het, en wie dit is wat vir jou sê: ‘Gee My iets om te drink’, sou jy Hom gevra het en Hy sou vir jou lewende water gegee het.”ἀπεκρίθη Ἰησοῦς καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῇ· Εἰ ᾔδεις τὴν δωρεὰν τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ τίς ἐστιν ὁ λέγων σοι· Δός μοι πεῖν, σὺ ἂν ᾔτησας αὐτὸν καὶ ἔδωκεν ἄν σοι ὕδωρ ζῶν.Jesus answered, “If you knew the gift of God and who is asking you for a drink, you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.” 11Die vrou sê vir Hom: “Heer, U het geen skepemmer nie, en die put is diep; waar kry U dan die lewende water vandaan?”λέγει αὐτῷ ⸂ἡ γυνή⸃· Κύριε, οὔτε ἄντλημα ἔχεις καὶ τὸ φρέαρ ἐστὶν βαθύ· πόθεν οὖν ἔχεις τὸ ὕδωρ τὸ ζῶν;“Sir,” the woman replied, “You have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where then will You get this living water? 12U is tog nie groter as ons vader Jakob nie, wat vir ons die put gegee het, en self daaruit gedrink het, en sy seuns en sy vee?μὴ σὺ μείζων εἶ τοῦ πατρὸς ἡμῶν Ἰακώβ, ὃς ἔδωκεν ἡμῖν τὸ φρέαρ καὶ αὐτὸς ἐξ αὐτοῦ ἔπιεν καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ αὐτοῦ καὶ τὰ θρέμματα αὐτοῦ;Are You greater than our father Jacob, who gave us this well and drank from it himself, as did his sons and his livestock?” 13Jesus het geantwoord en vir haar gesê: “Elkeen wat van hierdie water drink, sal weer dors kry;ἀπεκρίθη Ἰησοῦς καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῇ· Πᾶς ὁ πίνων ἐκ τοῦ ὕδατος τούτου διψήσει πάλιν·Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again. 14maar wie ook al drink van die water wat ek hom sal gee, sal in ewigheid glad nie dors word nie; maar die water wat ek hom sal gee, sal in hom 'n bron word van water wat opspring tot ewige lewe.”ὃς δʼ ἂν πίῃ ἐκ τοῦ ὕδατος οὗ ἐγὼ δώσω αὐτῷ, οὐ μὴ ⸀διψήσει εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα, ἀλλὰ τὸ ὕδωρ ὃ δώσω αὐτῷ γενήσεται ἐν αὐτῷ πηγὴ ὕδατος ἁλλομένου εἰς ζωὴν αἰώνιον.But whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a fount of water springing up to eternal life.” 15Die vrou sê vir Hom: “Heer, gee my hierdie water, sodat ek nie dors word nie en nie hierheen hoef te kom om te skep nie.”λέγει πρὸς αὐτὸν ἡ γυνή· Κύριε, δός μοι τοῦτο τὸ ὕδωρ, ἵνα μὴ διψῶ μηδὲ ⸀διέρχωμαι ἐνθάδε ἀντλεῖν.The woman said to Him, “Sir, give me this water so that I will not get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water.” 16Hy sê vir haar: “Gaan, roep jou man en kom hierheen.”Λέγει ⸀αὐτῇ· Ὕπαγε φώνησον ⸂τὸν ἄνδρα σου⸃ καὶ ἐλθὲ ἐνθάδε.Jesus told her, “Go, call your husband and come back.” 17Die vrou het geantwoord en vir Hom gesê: “Ek het nie 'n man nie.” Jesus sê vir haar: “Jy het reg gesê: ‘Ek het nie 'n man nie’;ἀπεκρίθη ἡ γυνὴ καὶ εἶπεν ⸀αὐτῷ· Οὐκ ἔχω ἄνδρα. λέγει αὐτῇ ὁ Ἰησοῦς· Καλῶς εἶπας ὅτι Ἄνδρα οὐκ ἔχω·“I have no husband,” the woman replied. Jesus said to her, “You are correct to say that you have no husband. 18want jy het vyf mans gehad, en die een wat jy nou het, is nie jou man nie. Dit het jy na waarheid gesê.”πέντε γὰρ ἄνδρας ἔσχες, καὶ νῦν ὃν ἔχεις οὐκ ἔστιν σου ἀνήρ· τοῦτο ἀληθὲς εἴρηκας.In fact, you have had five husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband. You have spoken truthfully.” 19Die vrou sê vir Hom: “Heer, ek sien dat U 'n profeet is.λέγει αὐτῷ ἡ γυνή· Κύριε, θεωρῶ ὅτι προφήτης εἶ σύ.“Sir,” the woman said, “I see that You are a prophet. 20Ons vaders het op hierdie berg aanbid, en julle sê dat in Jerusalem die plek is waar 'n mens moet aanbid.”οἱ πατέρες ἡμῶν ἐν τῷ ὄρει τούτῳ προσεκύνησαν· καὶ ὑμεῖς λέγετε ὅτι ἐν Ἱεροσολύμοις ἐστὶν ὁ τόπος ὅπου ⸂προσκυνεῖν δεῖ⸃.Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews say that the place where one must worship is in Jerusalem.” 21Jesus sê vir haar: “Glo my, vrou, dat daar 'n uur kom wanneer julle nóg op hierdie berg nóg in Jerusalem die Vader sal aanbid.λέγει αὐτῇ ὁ Ἰησοῦς· ⸂Πίστευέ μοι, γύναι⸃, ὅτι ἔρχεται ὥρα ὅτε οὔτε ἐν τῷ ὄρει τούτῳ οὔτε ἐν Ἱεροσολύμοις προσκυνήσετε τῷ πατρί.“Believe Me, woman,” Jesus replied, “a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. 22Julle aanbid wat julle nie ken nie; ons aanbid wat ons ken, want die redding is uit die Jode.ὑμεῖς προσκυνεῖτε ὃ οὐκ οἴδατε, ἡμεῖς προσκυνοῦμεν ὃ οἴδαμεν, ὅτι ἡ σωτηρία ἐκ τῶν Ἰουδαίων ἐστίν·You worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23Maar daar kom 'n uur, en dit is nou, wanneer die ware aanbidders die Vader in gees en waarheid sal aanbid, want die Vader soek ook sulkes wat Hom aanbid.
aOf: in die Gees en waarheid.
ἀλλὰ ἔρχεται ὥρα καὶ νῦν ἐστιν, ὅτε οἱ ἀληθινοὶ προσκυνηταὶ προσκυνήσουσιν τῷ πατρὶ ἐν πνεύματι καὶ ἀληθείᾳ, καὶ γὰρ ὁ πατὴρ τοιούτους ζητεῖ τοὺς προσκυνοῦντας αὐτόν·But a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth, for the Father is seeking such as these to worship Him.
God is Spirit, and His worshipers must worship Him in spirit and in truth.”
The woman said, “I know that Messiah” (called Christ) “is coming. When He comes, He will explain everything to us.” 26Jesus sê vir haar: “Ek is dit, ek wat met jou praat.”
aLetterlik: Ek is.
Jesus answered, “I who speak to you am He.”
27En hierop het Sy dissipels gekom, en hulle was verbaas dat Hy met 'n vrou praat; tog het niemand gesê: “Wat soek U?” of: “Wat praat U met haar?”Καὶ ἐπὶ τούτῳ ἦλθαν οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ, καὶ ⸀ἐθαύμαζον ὅτι μετὰ γυναικὸς ἐλάλει· οὐδεὶς μέντοι εἶπεν· Τί ζητεῖς; ἢ τί λαλεῖς μετʼ αὐτῆς;Just then His disciples returned and were surprised that He was speaking with a woman. But no one asked Him, “What do You want from her?” or “Why are You talking with her?” 28Die vrou het toe haar waterkruik laat staan en na die stad gegaan en vir die mense gesê:ἀφῆκεν οὖν τὴν ὑδρίαν αὐτῆς ἡ γυνὴ καὶ ἀπῆλθεν εἰς τὴν πόλιν καὶ λέγει τοῖς ἀνθρώποις·Then the woman left her water jar, went back into the town, and said to the people, 29“Kom kyk 'n mens wat vir my alles gesê het wat ek gedoen het; kan Hy dalk die Christus wees?”Δεῦτε ἴδετε ἄνθρωπον ὃς εἶπέ μοι πάντα ⸀ὅσα ἐποίησα· μήτι οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ χριστός;“Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Christ?” 30Hulle het uit die stad uitgegaan en was op pad na Hom toe.ἐξῆλθον ἐκ τῆς πόλεως καὶ ἤρχοντο πρὸς αὐτόν.So they left the town and made their way toward Jesus.
Meanwhile the disciples urged Him, “Rabbi, eat something.” 32Maar Hy het vir hulle gesê: “Ek het kos om te eet wat julle nie ken nie.”ὁ δὲ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς· Ἐγὼ βρῶσιν ἔχω φαγεῖν ἣν ὑμεῖς οὐκ οἴδατε.But He told them, “I have food to eat that you know nothing about.” 33Die dissipels het toe vir mekaar gesê: “Het iemand dalk vir Hom iets gebring om te eet?”ἔλεγον οὖν οἱ μαθηταὶ πρὸς ἀλλήλους· Μή τις ἤνεγκεν αὐτῷ φαγεῖν;So the disciples asked one another, “Could someone have brought Him food?” 34Jesus sê vir hulle: “My kos is dat ek die wil doen van Hom wat my gestuur het en Sy werk voltooi.λέγει αὐτοῖς ὁ Ἰησοῦς· Ἐμὸν βρῶμά ἐστιν ἵνα ⸀ποιήσω τὸ θέλημα τοῦ πέμψαντός με καὶ τελειώσω αὐτοῦ τὸ ἔργον.Jesus explained, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to finish His work. 35Sê julle nie: ‘Daar is nog vier maande, en dan kom die oes’ nie? Kyk, Ek sê vir julle: Lig julle oë op en kyk na die lande, dat hulle wit is vir die oes. Reedsοὐχ ὑμεῖς λέγετε ὅτι Ἔτι τετράμηνός ἐστιν καὶ ὁ θερισμὸς ἔρχεται; ἰδοὺ λέγω ὑμῖν, ἐπάρατε τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς ὑμῶν καὶ θεάσασθε τὰς χώρας ὅτι λευκαί εἰσιν πρὸς θερισμόν· ἤδηDo you not say, ‘There are still four months until the harvest’? I tell you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are ripe for harvest. 36ontvang die maaier loon en versamel vrug tot ewige lewe, sodat die saaier en die maaier saam bly kan wees.⸀ὁ θερίζων μισθὸν λαμβάνει καὶ συνάγει καρπὸν εἰς ζωὴν αἰώνιον, ⸀ἵνα ὁ σπείρων ὁμοῦ χαίρῃ καὶ ὁ θερίζων.Already the reaper draws his wages and gathers a crop for eternal life, so that the sower and the reaper may rejoice together. 37Want hierin is die woord waar: ‘Een is die saaier en 'n ander die maaier.’ἐν γὰρ τούτῳ ὁ λόγος ⸀ἐστὶν ἀληθινὸς ὅτι Ἄλλος ἐστὶν ὁ σπείρων καὶ ἄλλος ὁ θερίζων·For in this case the saying ‘One sows and another reaps’ is true. 38Ek het julle gestuur om te oes waaraan julle nie gearbei het nie; ander het gearbei, en julle het in hulle arbeid ingegaan.”ἐγὼ ἀπέστειλα ὑμᾶς θερίζειν ὃ οὐχ ὑμεῖς κεκοπιάκατε· ἄλλοι κεκοπιάκασιν, καὶ ὑμεῖς εἰς τὸν κόπον αὐτῶν εἰσεληλύθατε.I sent you to reap what you have not worked for; others have done the hard work, and now you have taken up their labor.”
39En uit daardie stad het baie van die Samaritane in Hom geglo vanweë die woord van die vrou wat getuig het: “Hy het vir my alles gesê wat ek gedoen het.”Ἐκ δὲ τῆς πόλεως ἐκείνης πολλοὶ ἐπίστευσαν εἰς αὐτὸν τῶν Σαμαριτῶν διὰ τὸν λόγον τῆς γυναικὸς μαρτυρούσης ὅτι Εἶπέν μοι πάντα ⸀ἃ ἐποίησα.Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in Jesus because of the woman’s testimony, “He told me everything I ever did.” 40Toe die Samaritane dan na Hom gekom het, het hulle Hom gevra om by hulle te bly; en Hy het twee dae daar gebly.ὡς οὖν ἦλθον πρὸς αὐτὸν οἱ Σαμαρῖται, ἠρώτων αὐτὸν μεῖναι παρʼ αὐτοῖς· καὶ ἔμεινεν ἐκεῖ δύο ἡμέρας.So when the Samaritans came to Him, they asked Him to stay with them, and He stayed two days. 41En baie meer het geglo vanweë Sy woord,καὶ πολλῷ πλείους ἐπίστευσαν διὰ τὸν λόγον αὐτοῦ,And many more believed because of His message.
They said to the woman, “We now believe not only because of your words; we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man truly is the Savior of the world.”
43En na die twee dae het Hy daarvandaan na Galilea gegaan;Μετὰ δὲ τὰς δύο ἡμέρας ἐξῆλθεν ⸀ἐκεῖθεν εἰς τὴν Γαλιλαίαν·After two days, Jesus left for Galilee. 44want Jesus self het getuig dat 'n profeet in sy eie vaderland geen eer het nie.αὐτὸς ⸀γὰρ Ἰησοῦς ἐμαρτύρησεν ὅτι προφήτης ἐν τῇ ἰδίᾳ πατρίδι τιμὴν οὐκ ἔχει.Now He Himself had testified that a prophet has no honor in his own hometown. 45Toe Hy dan in Galilea gekom het, het die Galileërs Hom ontvang, aangesien hulle alles gesien het wat Hy in Jerusalem op die fees gedoen het; want hulle het ook na die fees gegaan.ὅτε οὖν ἦλθεν εἰς τὴν Γαλιλαίαν, ἐδέξαντο αὐτὸν οἱ Γαλιλαῖοι, πάντα ἑωρακότες ⸀ὅσα ἐποίησεν ἐν Ἱεροσολύμοις ἐν τῇ ἑορτῇ, καὶ αὐτοὶ γὰρ ἦλθον εἰς τὴν ἑορτήν.Yet when He arrived, the Galileans welcomed Him. They had seen all the great things He had done in Jerusalem at the feast, for they had gone there as well.
aLetterlik: 'n koninklike.
So once again He came to Cana in Galilee, where He had turned the water into wine. And there was a royal official whose son lay sick at Capernaum.
47Toe hy gehoor het dat Jesus uit Judea na Galilea gekom het, het hy na Hom toe gegaan en gevra dat Hy moet afkom en sy seun gesond maak, want hy was op sterwe.οὗτος ἀκούσας ὅτι Ἰησοῦς ἥκει ἐκ τῆς Ἰουδαίας εἰς τὴν Γαλιλαίαν ἀπῆλθεν πρὸς αὐτὸν καὶ ⸀ἠρώτα ἵνα καταβῇ καὶ ἰάσηται αὐτοῦ τὸν υἱόν, ἤμελλεν γὰρ ἀποθνῄσκειν.When he heard that Jesus had come from Judea to Galilee, he went and begged Him to come down and heal his son, who was about to die. 48Jesus het toe vir hom gesê: “As julle nie tekens en wonders sien nie, sal julle beslis nie glo nie.”εἶπεν οὖν ὁ Ἰησοῦς πρὸς αὐτόν· Ἐὰν μὴ σημεῖα καὶ τέρατα ἴδητε, οὐ μὴ πιστεύσητε.Jesus said to him, “Unless you people see signs and wonders, you will never believe.” 49Die koninklike amptenaar sê vir Hom: “Heer, kom af voordat my kindjie sterf.”λέγει πρὸς αὐτὸν ὁ βασιλικός· Κύριε, κατάβηθι πρὶν ἀποθανεῖν τὸ παιδίον μου.“Sir,” the official said, “come down before my child dies.” 50Jesus sê vir hom: “Gaan, jou seun lewe.” Die man het die woord geglo wat Jesus vir hom gesê het, en hy het gegaan.λέγει αὐτῷ ὁ Ἰησοῦς· Πορεύου· ὁ υἱός σου ζῇ. “Your son will live.” The man took Jesus at His word and departed.
aOf: diensknegte.
bSommige manuskripte lees: hom tegemoetgekom en berig gebring en gesê: “Jou kind lewe.”
ἤδη δὲ αὐτοῦ καταβαίνοντος οἱ δοῦλοι αὐτοῦ ⸀ὑπήντησαν ⸀αὐτῷ λέγοντες ὅτι ὁ παῖς ⸀αὐτοῦ ζῇ.And while he was still on the way, his servants met him with the news that his boy was alive.
So he inquired as to the hour when his son had recovered, and they told him, “The fever left him yesterday at the seventh hour. ”
53Die vader het toe besef dat dit in daardie uur was waarin Jesus vir hom gesê het: “Jou seun lewe,” en hy het geglo, hy en sy hele huis.ἔγνω οὖν ὁ πατὴρ ⸀ὅτι ἐκείνῃ τῇ ὥρᾳ ἐν ᾗ εἶπεν αὐτῷ ὁ ⸀Ἰησοῦς· Ὁ υἱός σου ζῇ, καὶ ἐπίστευσεν αὐτὸς καὶ ἡ οἰκία αὐτοῦ ὅλη.Then the father realized that this was the very hour in which Jesus had told him, “Your son will live.” And he and all his household believed. 54En dit was weer 'n tweede teken wat Jesus gedoen het nadat Hy uit Judea na Galilea gekom het.τοῦτο ⸀δὲ πάλιν δεύτερον σημεῖον ἐποίησεν ὁ Ἰησοῦς ἐλθὼν ἐκ τῆς Ἰουδαίας εἰς τὴν Γαλιλαίαν.This was now the second sign that Jesus performed after coming from Judea into Galilee.
