1In daardie uur het die dissipels na Jesus gekom en gesê: “Wie is dan die grootste in die koninkryk van die hemel?”Ἐν ἐκείνῃ τῇ ὥρᾳ προσῆλθον οἱ μαθηταὶ τῷ Ἰησοῦ λέγοντες· Τίς ἄρα μείζων ἐστὶν ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ τῶν οὐρανῶν;At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who then is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” 2En Hy het 'n kindjie na Hom geroep en dit in hulle midde laat staanκαὶ ⸀προσκαλεσάμενος παιδίον ἔστησεν αὐτὸ ἐν μέσῳ αὐτῶνJesus invited a little child to stand among them. 3en gesê: “Voorwaar, Ek sê vir julle, as julle nie omkeer en soos die kindertjies word nie, sal julle beslis nie in die koninkryk van die hemele ingaan nie.καὶ εἶπεν· Ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν, ἐὰν μὴ στραφῆτε καὶ γένησθε ὡς τὰ παιδία, οὐ μὴ εἰσέλθητε εἰς τὴν βασιλείαν τῶν οὐρανῶν.“Truly I tell you,” He said, “unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. 4Wie dus homself nederig sal maak soos hierdie kindjie, dié een is die grootste in die koninkryk van die hemel;ὅστις οὖν ταπεινώσει ἑαυτὸν ὡς τὸ παιδίον τοῦτο, οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ μείζων ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ τῶν οὐρανῶν·Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. 5En wie een so ’n kindjie in My naam ontvang, ontvang My.καὶ ὃς ⸀ἐὰν δέξηται ⸂ἓν παιδίον τοιοῦτο⸃ ἐπὶ τῷ ὀνόματί μου, ἐμὲ δέχεται.And whoever welcomes a little child like this in My name welcomes Me.
But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.
7Wee die wêreld vanweë die struikelblokke! Want dit is noodsaaklik dat die struikelblokke kom, maar wee die mens deur wie die struikelblok kom.οὐαὶ τῷ κόσμῳ ἀπὸ τῶν σκανδάλων· ἀνάγκη ⸀γὰρ ἐλθεῖν τὰ σκάνδαλα, πλὴν οὐαὶ τῷ ⸀ἀνθρώπῳ διʼ οὗ τὸ σκάνδαλον ἔρχεται.Woe to the world for the causes of sin. These stumbling blocks must come, but woe to the man through whom they come!
8Maar as jou hand of jou voet jou laat struikel, kap dit af en gooi dit van jou weg; dit is vir jou beter om verminkt of kreupel in die lewe in te gaan, as om met twee hande of twee voete in die ewige vuur gegooi te word.Εἰ δὲ ἡ χείρ σου ἢ ὁ πούς σου σκανδαλίζει σε, ἔκκοψον ⸀αὐτὸν καὶ βάλε ἀπὸ σοῦ· καλόν σοί ἐστιν εἰσελθεῖν εἰς τὴν ζωὴν ⸂κυλλὸν ἢ χωλόν⸃, ἢ δύο χεῖρας ἢ δύο πόδας ἔχοντα βληθῆναι εἰς τὸ πῦρ τὸ αἰώνιον.If your hand or your foot causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life crippled or lame than to have two hands and two feet and be thrown into the eternal fire. 9En as jou oog jou laat struikel, ruk dit uit en gooi dit van jou weg; dit is vir jou beter om eenoog in die lewe in te gaan, as om met twee oë in die hel van die vuur gegooi te word.καὶ εἰ ὁ ὀφθαλμός σου σκανδαλίζει σε, ἔξελε αὐτὸν καὶ βάλε ἀπὸ σοῦ· καλόν σοί ἐστιν μονόφθαλμον εἰς τὴν ζωὴν εἰσελθεῖν, ἢ δύο ὀφθαλμοὺς ἔχοντα βληθῆναι εἰς τὴν γέενναν τοῦ πυρός.And if your eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into the fire of hell.
10Pas op dat julle nie een van hierdie kleintjies verag nie, want Ek sê vir julle dat hulle engele in die hemele altyd die aangesig van My Vader wat in die hemele is, sien.Ὁρᾶτε μὴ καταφρονήσητε ἑνὸς τῶν μικρῶν τούτων, λέγω γὰρ ὑμῖν ὅτι οἱ ἄγγελοι αὐτῶν ἐν οὐρανοῖς διὰ παντὸς βλέπουσι τὸ πρόσωπον τοῦ πατρός μου τοῦ ἐν ⸀οὐρανοῖς.See that you do not look down on any of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of My Father in heaven.
12Wat dink julle? As 'n mens 100 skape het en een van hulle dwaal af, sal hy nie die 99 op die berge laat staan en gaan en soek na die een wat dwaal nie?τί ὑμῖν δοκεῖ; ἐὰν γένηταί τινι ἀνθρώπῳ ἑκατὸν πρόβατα καὶ πλανηθῇ ἓν ἐξ αὐτῶν, οὐχὶ ⸀ἀφήσει τὰ ἐνενήκοντα ἐννέα ἐπὶ τὰ ὄρη ⸀καὶ πορευθεὶς ζητεῖ τὸ πλανώμενον;What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them goes astray, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go out to search for the one that is lost? 13En as dit hom gebeur om dit te vind, voorwaar, Ek sê vir julle dat hy meer bly is oor dit as oor die 99 wat nie afgedwaal het nie.καὶ ἐὰν γένηται εὑρεῖν αὐτό, ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι χαίρει ἐπʼ αὐτῷ μᾶλλον ἢ ἐπὶ τοῖς ἐνενήκοντα ἐννέα τοῖς μὴ πεπλανημένοις.And if he finds it, truly I tell you, he rejoices more over that one sheep than over the ninety-nine that did not go astray.
bSommige manuskripte lees: My Vader.
In the same way, your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should perish.
aSommige manuskripte lees: As jou broer sondig, gaan en wys hom tereg.
ἐάν σου ἀκούσῃ, ἐκέρδησας τὸν ἀδελφόν σου·If your brother sins against you, go and confront him privately. If he listens to you, you have won your brother over.
16Maar as hy nie luister nie, neem nog een of twee saam met jou, sodat elke woord deur die mond van twee of drie getuies kan vasstaan.
aAanhaling uit Deuteronomium 19:15.
ἐὰν δὲ μὴ ἀκούσῃ, παράλαβε μετὰ σοῦ ἔτι ἕνα ἢ δύο, ἵνα ἐπὶ στόματος δύο μαρτύρων ἢ τριῶν σταθῇ πᾶν ῥῆμα·But if he will not listen, take one or two others along, so that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.’
17Maar as hy hulle nie wil hoor nie, sê dit vir die gemeente; en as hy ook die gemeente nie wil hoor nie, laat hy vir jou wees soos die heiden en die tollenaar.ἐὰν δὲ παρακούσῃ αὐτῶν, εἰπὸν τῇ ἐκκλησίᾳ· ἐὰν δὲ καὶ τῆς ἐκκλησίας παρακούσῃ, ἔστω σοι ὥσπερ ὁ ἐθνικὸς καὶ ὁ τελώνης.If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church. And if he refuses to listen even to the church, regard him as you would a pagan or a tax collector. 18Voorwaar, Ek sê vir julle, alles wat julle op die aarde bind, sal in die hemel gebonde wees, en alles wat julle op die aarde losmaak, sal in die hemel losgemaak wees.ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν, ὅσα ⸀ἐὰν δήσητε ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς ἔσται δεδεμένα ⸀ἐν οὐρανῷ καὶ ὅσα ἐὰν λύσητε ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς ἔσται λελυμένα ⸁ἐν οὐρανῷ.Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. 19Weer, voorwaar, Ek sê vir julle: as twee van julle op die aarde saamstem oor enige saak wat hulle ook al vra, sal dit deur My Vader wat in die hemele is, vir hulle gedoen word.Πάλιν ⸀ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι ἐὰν δύο ⸂συμφωνήσωσιν ἐξ ὑμῶν⸃ ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς περὶ παντὸς πράγματος οὗ ἐὰν αἰτήσωνται, γενήσεται αὐτοῖς παρὰ τοῦ πατρός μου τοῦ ἐν οὐρανοῖς.Again, I tell you truly that if two of you on the earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by My Father in heaven. 20Want waar twee of drie in My naam vergader is, daar is Ek in hulle midde.”οὗ γάρ εἰσιν δύο ἢ τρεῖς συνηγμένοι εἰς τὸ ἐμὸν ὄνομα, ἐκεῖ εἰμι ἐν μέσῳ αὐτῶν.For where two or three gather together in My name, there am I with them.”
21Toe het Petrus na Hom gekom en gesê: “Here, hoeveel keer sal my broer teen my sondig en ek hom vergewe? Tot sewe keer?”Τότε προσελθὼν ⸂αὐτῷ ὁ Πέτρος εἶπεν⸃· Κύριε, ποσάκις ἁμαρτήσει εἰς ἐμὲ ὁ ἀδελφός μου καὶ ἀφήσω αὐτῷ; ἕως ἑπτάκις;Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother who sins against me? Up to seven times?” 22Jesus sê vir hom: “Ek sê vir jou nie tot sewe keer nie, maar tot 70 keer sewe.
aOf: tot 77 keer.
Jesus answered, “I tell you, not just seven times, but seventy-seven times!
aLetterlik: 'n mens, 'n koning.
Διὰ τοῦτο ὡμοιώθη ἡ βασιλεία τῶν οὐρανῶν ἀνθρώπῳ βασιλεῖ ὃς ἠθέλησεν συνᾶραι λόγον μετὰ τῶν δούλων αὐτοῦ·Because of this, the kingdom of heaven is like a king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants.
aOngeveer 6 000 denarieë per talent; 'n denarius was ongeveer 'n dagloon.
As he began the settlements, a debtor owing ten thousand talents was brought to him.
Since the man was unable to pay, the master ordered that he be sold to pay his debt, along with his wife and children and everything he owned. 26Die slaaf het dus neergeval en hom gehuldig en gesê: ‘Wees geduldig met my, en ek sal alles aan u terugbetaal.’πεσὼν οὖν ὁ δοῦλος προσεκύνει αὐτῷ λέγων· ⸀Μακροθύμησον ἐπʼ ⸀ἐμοί, καὶ πάντα ⸂ἀποδώσω σοι⸃.Then the servant fell on his knees before him. ‘Have patience with me,’ he begged, ‘and I will pay back everything.’ 27En die heer van daardie slaaf is met deernis bewoë en het hom laat gaan, en die lening het hy aan hom kwytgeskeld.σπλαγχνισθεὶς δὲ ὁ κύριος τοῦ δούλου ἐκείνου ἀπέλυσεν αὐτόν, καὶ τὸ δάνειον ἀφῆκεν αὐτῷ.His master had compassion on him, forgave his debt, and released him.
aOngeveer 'n dagloon vir 'n arbeider per denarius.
But when that servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii. He grabbed him and began to choke him, saying, ‘Pay back what you owe me!’
So his fellow servant fell down and begged him, ‘Have patience with me, and I will pay you back.’
30Maar hy wou nie, maar het weggegaan en hom in die tronk gewerp totdat hy betaal wat verskuldig is.ὁ δὲ οὐκ ἤθελεν, ἀλλὰ ἀπελθὼν ἔβαλεν αὐτὸν εἰς φυλακὴν ἕως ⸀οὗ ἀποδῷ τὸ ὀφειλόμενον.But he refused. Instead, he went and had the man thrown into prison until he could pay his debt. 31Toe sy medeslawe dus sien wat gebeur het, was hulle baie bedroef, en hulle het gegaan en aan hulle heer alles wat gebeur het, duidelik meegedeel.ἰδόντες ⸀οὖν οἱ σύνδουλοι αὐτοῦ τὰ γενόμενα ἐλυπήθησαν σφόδρα, καὶ ἐλθόντες διεσάφησαν τῷ κυρίῳ ἑαυτῶν πάντα τὰ γενόμενα.When his fellow servants saw what had happened, they were greatly distressed, and they went and recounted all of this to their master. 32Toe roep sy heer hom na hom toe en sê vir hom: ‘Bose slaaf, ek het daardie hele skuld aan jou kwytgeskeld, omdat jy my gesmeek het;τότε προσκαλεσάμενος αὐτὸν ὁ κύριος αὐτοῦ λέγει αὐτῷ· Δοῦλε πονηρέ, πᾶσαν τὴν ὀφειλὴν ἐκείνην ἀφῆκά σοι, ἐπεὶ παρεκάλεσάς με·Then the master summoned him and said, ‘You wicked servant! I forgave all your debt because you begged me. 33moes jy jou nie ook oor jou medeslaaf ontferm het, soos ook ek my oor jou ontferm het nie?’οὐκ ἔδει καὶ σὲ ἐλεῆσαι τὸν σύνδουλόν σου, ὡς κἀγὼ σὲ ἠλέησα;Shouldn’t you have had mercy on your fellow servant, just as I had on you?’ 34En sy heer het kwaad geword en hom aan die folteraars oorgelewer totdat hy alles sou terugbetaal wat hy skuld.καὶ ὀργισθεὶς ὁ κύριος αὐτοῦ παρέδωκεν αὐτὸν τοῖς βασανισταῖς ἕως οὗ ἀποδῷ πᾶν τὸ ⸀ὀφειλόμενον.In anger his master turned him over to the jailers to be tortured, until he should repay all that he owed.
That is how My heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother from your heart.”
