1Toe is Jesus deur die Gees die woestyn in gelei om deur die duiwel versoek te word.Τότε ὁ Ἰησοῦς ἀνήχθη εἰς τὴν ἔρημον ὑπὸ τοῦ πνεύματος, πειρασθῆναι ὑπὸ τοῦ διαβόλου.Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. After fasting forty days and forty nights, He was hungry. 3En die versoeker het nader gekom en vir Hom gesê: “As U die Seun van God is, sê dat hierdie stene brode moet word.”καὶ προσελθὼν ⸂ὁ πειράζων εἶπεν αὐτῷ⸃· Εἰ υἱὸς εἶ τοῦ θεοῦ, εἰπὲ ἵνα οἱ λίθοι οὗτοι ἄρτοι γένωνται.The tempter came to Him and said, “If You are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.” 4Maar Hy het geantwoord en gesê: “Daar staan geskrywe: ‘Nie van brood alleen sal die mens lewe nie, maar van elke woord wat deur die mond van God uitgaan.’”
aAanhaling uit Deuteronomium 8:3.
But Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’ ”
5Toe neem die duiwel Hom saam na die heilige stad en hy het Hom op die vleuel van die tempel laat staan,Τότε παραλαμβάνει αὐτὸν ὁ διάβολος εἰς τὴν ἁγίαν πόλιν, καὶ ⸀ἔστησεν αὐτὸν ἐπὶ τὸ πτερύγιον τοῦ ἱεροῦ,Then the devil took Him to the holy city and set Him on the pinnacle of the temple.
καὶ λέγει αὐτῷ· Εἰ υἱὸς εἶ τοῦ θεοῦ, βάλε σεαυτὸν κάτω· γέγραπται γὰρ ὅτι Τοῖς ἀγγέλοις αὐτοῦ ἐντελεῖται περὶ σοῦ καὶ ἐπὶ χειρῶν ἀροῦσίν σε, μήποτε προσκόψῃς πρὸς λίθον τὸν πόδα σου.“If You are the Son of God,” he said, “throw Yourself down. For it is written: ‘He will command His angels concerning You, and they will lift You up in their hands, so that You will not strike Your foot against a stone.’ ”
Jesus replied, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’ ”
8Weer neem die duiwel Hom saam na 'n baie hoë berg, en hy wys vir Hom al die koninkryke van die wêreld en hulle heerlikheid,Πάλιν παραλαμβάνει αὐτὸν ὁ διάβολος εἰς ὄρος ὑψηλὸν λίαν, καὶ δείκνυσιν αὐτῷ πάσας τὰς βασιλείας τοῦ κόσμου καὶ τὴν δόξαν αὐτῶνAgain, the devil took Him to a very high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. 9en vir Hom gesê: “Al hierdie dinge sal ek U gee as U neerval en my aanbid.”καὶ ⸀εἶπεν αὐτῷ· Ταῦτά ⸂σοι πάντα⸃ δώσω, ἐὰν πεσὼν προσκυνήσῃς μοι.“All this I will give You,” he said, “if You will fall down and worship me.” 10Toe sê Jesus vir hom: “Gaan weg, Satan! Want daar staan geskrywe: ‘Die Here jou God sal jy aanbid, en Hom alleen sal jy dien.’”
aSommige manuskripte lees: Gaan weg agter My, Satan.
bAanhaling uit Deuteronomium 6:13.
Jesus told him. “For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve Him only.’ ”
Then the devil left Him, and angels came and ministered to Him.
12En toe Hy hoor dat Johannes uitgelewer is, het Hy teruggetrek na Galilea.Ἀκούσας ⸀δὲ ὅτι Ἰωάννης παρεδόθη ἀνεχώρησεν εἰς τὴν Γαλιλαίαν.When Jesus heard that John had been imprisoned, He withdrew to Galilee. 13En nadat Hy Nasaret verlaat het, het Hy gekom en in Kapernaum gaan woon, aan die see, in die gebied van Sebulon en Naftali;καὶ καταλιπὼν τὴν Ναζαρὰ ἐλθὼν κατῴκησεν εἰς Καφαρναοὺμ τὴν παραθαλασσίαν ἐν ὁρίοις Ζαβουλὼν καὶ Νεφθαλίμ·Leaving Nazareth, He went and lived in Capernaum, which is by the sea in the region of Zebulun and Naphtali, 14sodat vervul sou word wat deur die profeet Jesaja gesê is, wat gesê het:ἵνα πληρωθῇ τὸ ῥηθὲν διὰ Ἠσαΐου τοῦ προφήτου λέγοντος·to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: 15Land van Sebulon en land van Naftali, die pad van die see, anderkant die Jordaan, Galilea van die nasies,
aAanhaling uit Jesaja 9:1-2 (in Hebreeus Jesaja 8:23 tot 9:1).
Γῆ Ζαβουλὼν καὶ γῆ Νεφθαλίμ, ὁδὸν θαλάσσης, πέραν τοῦ Ἰορδάνου, Γαλιλαία τῶν ἐθνῶν,“Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, the Way of the Sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles—
16die volk wat in duisternis sit, het 'n groot lig gesien, en vir dié wat in die land en skaduwee van die dood sit, het 'n lig oor hulle opgegaan.ὁ λαὸς ὁ καθήμενος ἐν ⸀σκοτίᾳ ⸂φῶς εἶδεν⸃ μέγα, καὶ τοῖς καθημένοις ἐν χώρᾳ καὶ σκιᾷ θανάτου φῶς ἀνέτειλεν αὐτοῖς.the people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death, a light has dawned.”
From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.”
18Terwyl Hy langs die See van Galilea loop, het Hy twee broers gesien, Simon wat Petrus genoem word, en Andreas sy broer, wat 'n werpnet in die see gooi, want hulle was vissers.Περιπατῶν δὲ παρὰ τὴν θάλασσαν τῆς Γαλιλαίας εἶδεν δύο ἀδελφούς, Σίμωνα τὸν λεγόμενον Πέτρον καὶ Ἀνδρέαν τὸν ἀδελφὸν αὐτοῦ, βάλλοντας ἀμφίβληστρον εἰς τὴν θάλασσαν, ἦσαν γὰρ ἁλιεῖς·As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, He saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. 19En Hy sê vir hulle: “Kom agter My aan, en Ek sal julle vissers van mense maak.”καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς· Δεῦτε ὀπίσω μου, καὶ ποιήσω ὑμᾶς ἁλιεῖς ἀνθρώπων.“Come, follow Me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.” 20En hulle het dadelik die nette laat staan en Hom gevolg.οἱ δὲ εὐθέως ἀφέντες τὰ δίκτυα ἠκολούθησαν αὐτῷ.And at once they left their nets and followed Him. 21En toe Hy daarvandaan verder gaan, het Hy twee ander broers gesien, Jakobus die seun van Sebedeus en Johannes sy broer, in die skuit saam met Sebedeus hulle vader, besig om hulle nette te herstel, en Hy het hulle geroep.Καὶ προβὰς ἐκεῖθεν εἶδεν ἄλλους δύο ἀδελφούς, Ἰάκωβον τὸν τοῦ Ζεβεδαίου καὶ Ἰωάννην τὸν ἀδελφὸν αὐτοῦ, ἐν τῷ πλοίῳ μετὰ Ζεβεδαίου τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτῶν καταρτίζοντας τὰ δίκτυα αὐτῶν, καὶ ἐκάλεσεν αὐτούς.Going on from there, He saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee, mending their nets. Jesus called them, 22En hulle het dadelik die skuit en hulle vader laat staan en Hom gevolg.οἱ δὲ εὐθέως ἀφέντες τὸ πλοῖον καὶ τὸν πατέρα αὐτῶν ἠκολούθησαν αὐτῷ.and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed Him.
23En Hy het deur die hele Galilea rondgegaan, terwyl Hy in hulle sinagoges leer en die evangelie van die koninkryk verkondig en elke siekte en elke kwaal onder die volk gesond maak.Καὶ περιῆγεν ⸂ἐν ὅλῃ τῇ Γαλιλαίᾳ⸃, διδάσκων ἐν ταῖς συναγωγαῖς αὐτῶν καὶ κηρύσσων τὸ εὐαγγέλιον τῆς βασιλείας καὶ θεραπεύων πᾶσαν νόσον καὶ πᾶσαν μαλακίαν ἐν τῷ λαῷ.Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people.
