Laat die HERE oordeel tussen my en jou.”aLetterlik: My geweld is op jou.וַתֹּ֨אמֶר שָׂרַ֣י אֶל־אַבְרָם֮ חֲמָסִ֣י עָלֶיךָ֒ אָנֹכִ֗י נָתַ֤תִּי שִׁפְחָתִי֙ בְּחֵיקֶ֔ךָ וַתֵּ֨רֶא֙ כִּ֣י הָרָ֔תָה וָאֵקַ֖ל בְּעֵינֶ֑יהָ יִשְׁפֹּ֥ט יְהוָ֖ה בֵּינִ֥י וּבֵינֶֽיׄךָ׃Then Sarai said to Abram, “May the wrong done to me be upon you! I delivered my servant into your arms, and ever since she saw that she was pregnant, she has treated me with contempt. May the LORD judge between you and me.”6Maar Abram sê vir Sarai: “Kyk, jou slavin is in jou hand. Do whatever you want with her.” Then Sarai treated Hagar so harshly that she fled from her.
7En die Engel van die HERE het haar gevind by die waterfontein in die woestyn, by die fontein op die pad na Sur.וַֽיִּמְצָאָ֞הּ מַלְאַ֧ךְ יְהוָ֛ה עַל־עֵ֥ין הַמַּ֖יִם בַּמִּדְבָּ֑ר עַל־הָעַ֖יִן בְּדֶ֥רֶךְ שֽׁוּר׃Now the angel of the LORD found Hagar by a spring of water in the desert—the spring along the road to Shur.8En hy sê: “Hagar, slavin van Sarai, waarvandaan het jy gekom, en waarheen gaan jy?” En sy sê: “Ek vlug van die aangesig van Sarai, my meesteres.”וַיֹּאמַ֗ר הָגָ֞ר שִׁפְחַ֥ת שָׂרַ֛י אֵֽי־מִזֶּ֥ה בָ֖את וְאָ֣נָה תֵלֵ֑כִי וַתֹּ֕אמֶר מִפְּנֵי֙ שָׂרַ֣י גְּבִרְתִּ֔י אָנֹכִ֖י בֹּרַֽחַת׃“Hagar, servant of Sarai,” he said, “where have you come from, and where are you going?” “I am running away from my mistress Sarai,” she replied.9En die Engel van die HERE sê vir haar: “Keer terug na jou meesteres en onderwerp jou onder haar hande.”aOf: verneder jou onder haar hande.וַיֹּ֤אמֶר לָהּ֙ מַלְאַ֣ךְ יְהוָ֔ה שׁ֖וּבִי אֶל־גְּבִרְתֵּ֑ךְ וְהִתְעַנִּ֖י תַּ֥חַת יָדֶֽיהָ׃So the angel of the LORD told her, “Return to your mistress and submit to her authority.”10Die Engel van die HERE sê vir haar: “Ek sal jou saad grootliks vermeerder, sodat dit weens die menigte nie getel kan word nie.”וַיֹּ֤אמֶר לָהּ֙ מַלְאַ֣ךְ יְהוָ֔ה הַרְבָּ֥ה אַרְבֶּ֖ה אֶת־זַרְעֵ֑ךְ וְלֹ֥א יִסָּפֵ֖ר מֵרֹֽב׃Then the angel added, “I will greatly multiply your offspring so that they will be too numerous to count.”11Die Engel van die HERE sê vir haar: “Kyk, jy is swanger, en jy sal ’n seun baar, en jy sal sy naam Ismael noem, want die HERE het jou ellende gehoor.”aDie naam beteken Die naam Ismael beteken: God hoor.וַיֹּ֤אמֶר לָהּ֙ מַלְאַ֣ךְ יְהוָ֔ה הִנָּ֥ךְ הָרָ֖ה וְיֹלַ֣דְתְּ בֵּ֑ן וְקָרָ֤את שְׁמוֹ֙ יִשְׁמָעֵ֔אל כִּֽי־שָׁמַ֥ע יְהוָ֖ה אֶל־עָנְיֵֽךְ׃The angel of the LORD proceeded: “Behold, you have conceived and will bear a son. And you shall name him Ishmael, for the LORD has heard your cry of affliction.12En hy sal ’n wilde donkie van ’n mens wees;

15Hagar het vir Abram ’n seun gebaar, en Abram het die naam van sy seun wat Hagar gebaar het, Ismael genoem.וַתֵּ֧לֶד הָגָ֛ר לְאַבְרָ֖ם בֵּ֑ן וַיִּקְרָ֨א אַבְרָ֧ם שֶׁם־בְּנ֛וֹ אֲשֶׁר־יָלְדָ֥ה הָגָ֖ר יִשְׁמָעֵֽאל׃And Hagar bore Abram a son, and Abram gave the name Ishmael to the son she had borne.16En Abram was 86 jaar oud toe Hagar vir Abram Ismael gebaar het.וְאַבְרָ֕ם בֶּן־שְׁמֹנִ֥ים שָׁנָ֖ה וְשֵׁ֣שׁ שָׁנִ֑ים בְּלֶֽדֶת־הָגָ֥ר אֶת־יִשְׁמָעֵ֖אל לְאַבְרָֽם׃ סAbram was eighty-six years old when Hagar bore Ishmael to him.
